It’s part of my typical morning routine to lay in bed and write my daily post, but this morning I was fresh outta zingers 🤷🏼‍♀️ . While doing daily tasks, dealing with peoples and daily hassles and stressors, we just drain our lots of energy, positivity and sometime happiness too, which ultimately start interfering in our tasks and make our performances LOW at different level and directly effect our moods. Taking on from where we left in the last post. What predisposes the young to Substance Abuse? - Individuals with low levels of self control are more likely to fall prey - An individual’s family beliefs and attitude towards drug use - A peer group that encourages drug use - Individuals with poor coping skills to deal with stress - Negative pattern of thinking like all or nothing approach to life. This type of thinking involves looking at your life in extremes like being either perfect or horrible. How do we deal with Substance Abuse and plan a way forward? The first reaction to the problem is often denial on the part of caretakers/parents. Some resort to being angry, some confront, some get the affected individual to make promises to never touch those substances and some argue. The problem thus gets worse and out of hand. The first positive approach, therefore, would be to accept the problem and ask for professional support. On an individual level you could communicate with the affected persons that you care for them, build that trust, tell them that you still love and support them. Medication, family/community support fortified by counselling is an effective long term treatment plan that helps individuals come out of Substance abuse successfully. The way forward would therefore, be, to have a more positive approach and empower individuals. This would benefit the young take responsibility of their choices and not be caught unawares to peer pressure or to the sheer act of experimentation!! What's your inspiration for doing what you do? If you told me 5 years ago I'd be a social media manager. I'd say no way! ⁠ ⁠ Why? ⁠ ⁠ Well, I was set to start the MSW program at Portland State University fall 2017. I'd gone back to school later in life to earn my BS and then applied to grad school. During school I worked for Oregon's largest children's behavioral health agency providing case management and care coordination. My goal was stay with the agency as a therapist. ⁠ ⁠ But, I didn't take care of myself and it took an emotional toll on me. So much so that I quit my job and withdrew from the MSW program. ⁠ ⁠ Eventually, I got my wings back. I thought about re-applying but decided to go a different route. ⁠ ⁠ My goal is to help therapist/coaches spread wellness. To create a platform across all social where speaking about self care, mental health, emotional wellness is okay. FREEDOM FRIDAY 🙈 . What works for you? And what doesn’t? 💕 . Knowing this might not be that easy. It’s a process which requires reflection, getting to know yourself, evaluating your habits, activities, relationships, style of communication, lifestyle, reactions, job, etc. 💪 . Take one step at a time 🐾 . Start taking a look at your daily routine. Observe how you think and feel in the morning, before a specific activity, before and after spending time with people and during your daily habits and routine. Start exploring your dreams and your passions. Reflect upon what inspires you and what makes you feel free. Not free from obligations. But free of TOO MUCH stress and meaningless activities. Some activities might not be fulfilling. It’s okay. But you might need a change if you’re drained half the day because you’re not doing what works for you 🦋 . #wybfreedomfriday 🙏

WELLBEING WEDNESDAY 🌎 . On this wellbeing Wednesday, I HAVE to write about traveling🙈 . This quote describes so well why I love traveling. “I want my mind to be in constant awe of life on earth. I want to see things with new eyes” 🦋 . When traveling, I change. I listen to myself. I listen to my dreams. I open up. I feel more aligned with the person I am, my values and my dreams. I feel transformed by places and people. I leave pieces of my heart wherever I go. But when I’m back, my heart is full. Of people, places, adventures, magic, dreams, love, kindness, compassion and trust. This is my kind of wellbeing 🌱 . I’ve fallen in love with the two islands Solta and Brač and the past six days have been great. Stunning views, turquoise water, wild nature, steep hills, sun, no tourists, meaningful conversations with my friend, good laughs (she’s the funniest friend, I have!), hikes, bicycle trips, reading, relaxing and no rush at all. Today we leave Solta and head to Split where we have one day before returning to Copenhagen 🌎 . #wybwellbeingwednesday 🐾

I’m sure the world would be a better place if people were more aware of their values and acted more in alignment with them. Doing more of what aligns with your values will make you kinder, more compassionate and more loving. You will have more fun. More vitality and energy. Be more you. And people will notice that.
