Friday night at the bar🍺. Thought I'd share one annoyance I occasionally run into with some commercial gyms. When the floor is slanted and the deadlift bar sloooooowly rolls away 😁. . Here I am trying to keep the bar in one spot while it keeps sloooooowly rolling away! Spent a couple of minutes on this. Became rather obsessive about it. Just me? Funny in retrospect but very annoying while it is happening😡. . . Job says God gives and God takes away. We put so much emphasis on the "takes away" part, and forget all that He gives. I wonder every day what I did to deserve this husband, this life we're building. We've had our practice trusting God in the times when we feel like we're between a rock and a hard place, but I like to step back sometimes and remember that just as God has strengthened our marriage in our deprivation, He has also supplied us with an over-abundance of joy and love. . . Cameron, you are my treasure. Every time I look at you my heart is so filled with love I can barely stand it. I feel so loved and secure when you look at me with those timeless grandfather eyes that I love so much. To be loved by you is the most overwhelming, exciting, and unbelievable privilege. You are my sweet thing and my home. Just wanted to say so 😊 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I feel someone out there needs to hear this, so this is for you 😘Wanna know our secret to a happy marriage? My husband and I do not yell at each other, we do not say things we don't mean, and we do not attempt to control one another. We seek God individually, and as one flesh, lift one another up, support each others dreams and allow for change, and we make sure to hold each other accountable to the others walk with the Lord. God did institute marriage, so honor him in it. He intends for you to be happy, He intends for your relationship to be amazing and filled with love and joy, so if you're miserable and exhausted, maybe you aren't listening to Him. Do not tolerate abuse or infidelity, but do look past flaws because we're all chalk full of them. Love your husband or wife, boyfriend or girlfriend whether they deserve it that day or not, for we do not deserve Jesus's sacrifice, but Christ loves us unconditionally anyway--and tells us to love others in the same manner. Difficult things happen TO relationships, but the relationship in itself is not supposed to be difficult. Being married to Cameron is the easiest thing in the world, and our life has not been a walk in the park. We are a united front in God against all the crap that's thrown at us. Best advice? Seek God, put Him first, and love hard 😘

Soutzoukakia. A traditional Greek dish. Meatballs in a rich tomato sauce with olives. When you are nostalgic for your Greek heritage but also lazy. You make a one pot meal 😊. These meatballs are delicious and can be served cold or hot. They can be served over rice, spaghetti or home fries, or plain with some sort of bread to sop up the sauce. The scent of cumin is wonderful! Excellent source of protein, fat and carbs. Soutzoukakia recipe Use 1 large frying pan for this entire dish Ingredients for meatballs 3 medium slices of crusty bread, crust removed. Soaked in water for 10 minutes, drained and squeezed dried. 1.5 lbs ground beef or lamb 2-4 garlic cloves crushed 1tbsp ground cumin 1 egg lightly beaten Salt and pepper to taste 1/4 cup flour to roll the meatballs in 3 tbsp sunflower oil for frying the meatballs Mix the ingredients by hand until well blended. Take a small handful, size of a walnut and roll it into a sausage shape. Roll all the sausage shaped meatballs lightly in flour. Fry the meatballs until golden on all sides and put aside on a plate. Discard the oil and clean the pan for the next step. Ingredients for sauce 3 tbsp olive oil 1 tsp cumin seeds 1 can diced tomatoes 28oz 1 tbsp tomato paste diluted in 2/3 cup hot water 1 tbsp oregano Salt and pepper to taste Pitted Olives green or black, optional Fry the cumin seeds in the olive oil for 1 min. Add the tomatoes, diluted tomato paste, oregano, salt and pepper to taste. Add the meatballs, olives (optional) and simmer gently for 30min. Let cool and enjoy. OPA! The sauce may be absorbed after cooling. Add 1 cup of hot water to the dish and mix gently if you want more sauce to enjoy with bread or other carb. Today I donated blood. They took about 2 cups of my blood. So what happens to gym life when you donate blood? For at least a week you are not as strong. I lose 50-100lbs on my deadlift!!! . Heavy lifting👎No. You suck. HIIT👎No. You will have an out of body experience😱. High volume👎No. See above. Light lifting 50% -60% 👍OK. Light cardio 👍OK. Treat it as a deload week. Get lots of sleep and fluids. Take iron supplements. Ease back into it after a week. Females are impacted more than males. Males can donate blood every 56 days. Females every 84 days. In Canada, the blood supply is managed by the Canadian Blood Services, a not-for-profit, charitable organization operating at arm's length from government. Its sole mission is to manage the blood supply for Canadians. 🚨warning: contains feelings 🚨 . . 💁🏼During my cut, confidence was easy. I was feeling lean and beautiful, could rock any outfit, and felt fit and tight in any position (👉🏼girls you know what I mean #slouch😉) . . 🙅🏼Post-cut, I've leveled out to my maintenance weight which is only slightly above where I was, and I find myself struggling with confidence. Although I probably don't look much different to others, and realistically I am still in the best shape I've ever been, I somehow find myself constantly wondering if I am right back to where I was when I started. This process has taught me that confidence and security cannot depend on outward circumstances, looks, or how you feel that day because that all changes. Your mind will believe anything you feed it...so feed it faith, feed it truth, and feed it love. . . Obtaining your idea of the "goal body" does not equal confidence, just like money does not equal happiness. They help, but are not the source. They don't satisfy that deep down yearning we all have for acceptance and love. Deadlift and Squat progress. It's always a good idea to step back and review your progress. Video 1 Deadlift The top video is from a competition about 6 months ago. My top lift at 1 x 485 lbs. Quite a grind! The bottom video is from a few weeks ago at 3 x 485 lbs... and after heavy squats. Video 2 Squat (swipe) The top video is from a competition about 6 months ago. My top lift at 1 x 408 lbs. The bottom video is from a few weeks ago at 5 x 405 lbs... and this was my low weight that week! Video 3 Bench I suck at this so no video😊. . Despite setbacks and slow progress... I have definitely improved💪. Progress is judged in the long-term. Use a training log (or insta) to keep track of progress. It will help give you perspective on those weeks or months where progress is stalled. .. I intend to be able to lift 500lbs when in my 60s 💪. . Deadlift Friday. So today was a disappointment. Thought I'd show a "fail". Not all training goes in a straight line. My 3 working sets were supposed to be: 5 x 405 lbs 3 x 455 lbs 1 x 515 lbs I've been fighting off some sort of bug so was prepared to stop depending on how I felt. The fist two sets went up like nothing, so I thought I had this👍. I did not have this👎. The video shows 3 x 455 lbs and 1 x 515 lbs fail. My thanks to the young man who fist bumped me after my fail. 👊Certainly made me feel better. Despite the fail, I moved a total of 14,105 lbs this session.💪. To make this interesting... ⚠️INSIDER⚠️ . . Though I always work on perfecting my form, once a year I totally back off the heavy weights and essentially start over. I unlearn my bad habits, increase my base strength, build power and explosion on the bottom end, and work my way back up with the intention of taking my current 1 rep PRs and making them my new 3 rep maxes. . . Every year this has gained me exponential progress and has advanced me as an athlete in a shorter than normal amount of time. Final attempt at 140 # felt the cleanest it ever has 👍🏼👍🏼 If you follow me you know I'm always nit-picking my form, but I realized I never share how. So for whoever is interested👉🏼👉🏼 . . the last two months I trained chest twice a week. I focused on bringing my elbows in tight, flexing my lats, and keeping my wrists in line with my forearm. I also trained with an over-exaggerated pause for every rep of every set, including warmup. It made such a huge difference in my power and confidence. You see pictures of him when people talk about squats. . I can now do deep "ass to grass" pause squats with 4 plates (405lbs) 💪. I have the facial hair, and now, I have the squat depth equivalent to Anatolij Pyssarenko!!!👊. . My goal is to reproduce this picture. What do you think? I think I can pull it off. Sunday meal prep for the week. I prepare enough to feed me and one other for the entire week. It's not that hard to prepare healthy meals. From left to right... . 1. French toast. We ate most of it but some is left over from the morning. Makes excellent desert, with icecream for the evening or a quick breakfast in the morning. . 2. Fried battered cod. Healthy lean meat. Can make fish and chips, fish and rice or a sandwich. . 3. Smoked paprika spiced chicken thighs fried in olive oil. I don't understand the obsession with chicken breasts. Thighs have equivalent or better nutrition and are much more tasty and tender. Can make chicken and salad, chicken and rice and these make really good sandwiches for lunch. . 4. Spiced liver fried in olive oil. One of the healthiest, most nutrient dense foods around. Can have it with a small salad, or a slice of feta cheese. . 5. Dill Lima beans (Greek dish). High protein vegetarian dish. Can be used as a side dish for all the above. Supper tonight. I felt like paella again, a traditional Spanish dish. The nice thing about paellas is that you can make a million recipies... depending on your food mood. Today I felt like seafood.🐙🦐🦑 For the carnivores among us, the left pan contains 1 lbs of chorizo sausage, and 3 lbs of seafoods (shrimp, octopus scallops, calamari, muscles, clams).
