Someone give me another word for favorite.. I feel like I say that about every post. But then it’s true also.. Rava khichdi - my staple at every bhavan. I love even the oily ones, imagine one made in ghee, loaded with veggies. If you want to know the difference between rava khichdi and rava Upma, please ask someone else. I make both the same way, with turmeric and more ghee is khichdi, without is Upma. As with every South Indian dish, when a recipe calls for ginger and curry leaves OD on it. Tomatoes are optional, you can skip it if you like. Adding a squeeze of lemon juice in the end s also something you could do. Keep tasting for salt and spice.. when the water boils, it should be a tad saltier than you like, so it adjusts with the rava. also at this point i should tell you, while I’m adding cashews n all and making it perfectly now, for these recipe posts, most times I don’t, so if you’ve a false impression of me doling our perfect looking dishes every time I cook, you couldn’t be more wrong. Vegetable Rawa Idli Idli is a soft & fluffy steamed cake made of fermented rawa or semolina . These are one of the healthiest protein packed Breakfasts from South Indian cuisine. Idli are easily digestible as the rawa idli is prepared by steaming the batter How to make Vegetable Rawa Idli firstly, heat 3 tsp oil and splutter 1 tsp mustard, 1 tsp chana dal, ½ tsp cumin, 1 tsp urad dal, pinch hing and few curry leaves. add 2 chilli, 1 inch ginger and 5 cashew. saute until golden brown. now add ½ carrot, ½ capsicum, 2 tbsp sweet corn, 5 beans and 2 tbsp peas. saute for 2 minutes or vegetables shrink slightly. further add ¼ tsp turmeric and 1 tsp salt. saute slightly. now add 1 cup rava and roast on low flame. rava turns aromatic after 5-7 minutes. cool the rava mixture and transfer to the bowl. furthermore, add ¾ cup curd and mix well. now add ½ cup water and mix well forming a smooth batter. rest for 20 minutes or until the rava absorbs water. mix well and add water as required, to form an idli batter consistency batter. grease the idli plate with oil. just before steaming add a ½ tsp eno (fruit saland mix well till it turns frothy. alternatively, add a pinch of baking soda. pour the batter immediately into the idli plate. do not rest the batter. steam the vegetable idli for 15 minutes on medium flame. finally, serve instant vegetable idli with coconut chutney . . . . . . . . . . . #idli #ravaidli #veggies #twist #cashews #carrots #peppers #corns #healthy #nutritious #filling #yummy #foodie # #desiindian #dilsefoodie #foodpic #foodphotography # torontofoodie #yummy #Breakfast #rava #semolina #greenchilli #foodiediaries #lovecooking #toronto #India #canadafooddiaries

Homemade Rava Dosa / Semolina Pancakes😅🙄 Ingredients for dosa: 1 cup rava/ semolina , 2-3 tbsp rice flour, curd, baking powder, salt and chopped: onion, coriander and green chilli. Ingredients for raita/ chutney: Grounded peanuts, salt, sugar and Curd Method for dosa: Grind rava/semolina until fine..then add dahi and create a batter. Re- grind the batter and let it set for 10 mins. Now add 2 pinch of baking powder, chopped onions, green chilli, coriander and salt. Mix it well and lay it of semi heated pan. Ready😍 Method for chutney: 2 spoons of grounded peanuts, 2.5 spoons curd , sugar and salt. A simple yet extremely delicious dessert from south of India,Rava/semolina Kesari!! 🌺 This is such a simple dessert that it requires no ingredients at all but iam adding here my version of recipe for making Rava Kesari😎 . Ingredients; Rava-1/2 cup Sugar-1/2 cup Melted Ghee– 3-4 tbsp Water-1/2cup Milk-1/2cup(optional);you can add only water (1 cups) Kesari food color-a pinch(optional) Roasted Cashewnuts and raisins– 1 tbsp 1/2 tsp-cardamom powder . Preparation; In a pan, heat 1tbsp of ghee. Suji Ka Halwa - Just handful of 4-5 ingredients and you can make this famous Indian sweet dish in 10-15 minutes. Ingredients: 1 cup Semolina (Suji / Rava) 1/2 cup Sugar 2 cups of water A pinch of saffron (kesar) 1/4th tsp Cardamom powder 1/4th cup Ghee (Saturated Butter) Dry fruits chopped - Almond, Pista, Cashews Method: We will make Suji ka Halwa in 2 simultaneous processes In one kadai, we will cook suji and in another pan we will melt sugar in water. Have taken a cup of suji (rava) For every cup of suji take half a cup of sugar or if you like more sweet than a little more than half. So now heat up the pan with water and let sugar dilute in it; we don't want to make thick sugar syrup; just want to dilute sugar in water In the same pan of sugar, add some saffron (kesar) And add some elaichi powder (cardamom powder). In the other kadai, heat it up, and add 1/4th cup Ghee (Saturated Butter) As ghee melts, we will first fry some dry fruits - am adding some cashews (kaju), almonds (badam). Once dry fruits are mildly fried; add suji (rava); and let it cook for some time Keep checking if sugar has melted in the other pan Wait till Suji is roasted; if you add sugar diluted water in raw suji then you will not get that aeroma. So make sure suji is roasted properly for 10 minutes Once you get that aroma, you will know that suji is roasted properly; it's time to reduce the flame and start adding sugar diluted water in parts; and keep mixing it. You will see that Suji will start soaking water. You should add upto 2 cups of water for 1 cup of Suji. As water gets soaked, halwa will get ready and soon it will start folding up and leave the surface of kadai and you will also see ghee on the sides being released from Suji; which means Suji Halwa is ready. Enjoy that fresh aroma of cooked semolina, kesar and ghee. Serve Suji ka Halwa in a bowl; garnish with chopped almond and pista. Enjoy hot; and if you store suji ka halwa then heat it in a microwave every time you eat it.
