I need to stop. Stop scrolling. Stop wanting. Stop feeding my mind with superficial desires. Lately, I find myself consumed by the flashy Instagram accounts and their red carpet worthy wardrobe and house decor that Joanna Gaines herself would envy. I used to just look and admire. Lately, I look and want. I look and suddenly feel like I NEED these things. I need the outfits. The holiday decor. The endless clothing. The newest fashion. The stylish decor. I suddenly need it all. Want it all. Wish for it all. Like somehow adding these things to my life will fulfill me in new ways. I need to stop. I need to refocus. I need to unfollow and rewind. I’ve filled my feed with people that have made me less appreciative of my own life and more ambitious to seek the lives, houses, and closets of complete strangers. That isn’t me. That’s not how I was raised. That’s not my heart and not my soul. Those things are not important. I need to stop. I need to refill my page and feed with people that inspire me to be better and do better. None of which has anything to do with the light fixtures in my house or the brand of clothing I wear. It feels hollow to constantly scroll just to feel less and want more. It’s not the influencers fault and it’s not the fault of social media. It’s something within me. Which tells me it’s time to move on and reevaluate the pages I follow and the inspiration I seek. I don’t need to better my house. I don’t need to grow my closet. I don’t need to book an appointment with the best stylists, lash gals, brow gals or plastic surgeons. I am proud of the woman I am. And I need to remind myself of that when I’m scrolling past a page that challenges that thought. I am enough. You are enough. How can I be more present in the moment? . I can be more present in the moment by accepting what is. Accepting what’s right in front of me. Accepting how I’m feeling as truth, accepting my thoughts as they come, accepting me as me. . I can be more present in the moment, by letting go of negative feelings and thoughts associated with the past. In essence, not “crying over spilt milk.” What’s happened has happened, what’s done is done. What I can choose to do is focus on the positive, the assets. The things I was gifted through the lesson, the takeaway I choose to carry on. . I can be more present in the moment, by reevaluating my life, restructuring my priorities. Begin to unfold myself in a more aligned direction. I must take great care to clear out the spaces in my heart that are filled with feelings of loss, defeat, and depression. Make room for the light to shine in, to shine through, and gift me the clarity of vision. Vision of who I want to be, vision of who I truly am. As long as I keep accepting, I’ll remain here. In my stories today I shared some thoughts I've had lately. Specifically how we spend our time and money. . People say they want to be healthy. They say they don't have time to eat healthy or exercise, but the hard truth is that they don't really value it enough to make it a priority. The reality is that what you spend your money on and how you spend your time is a reflection of what truly matters to you. . . Take a minute and evaluate your day. Where does your time go? Look at your bank account. Where do your hard earned dollars go? . I pay for a gym pass. I buy healthier food options. I invest in a customized workout program and coach. I truly VALUE those things and the benefits they bring to my life. . If you really want to adopt a healthier lifestyle, restructure your day and allot some of your budget. I'M NOT OK and that's ok. The last few months (or this year!?) has been so FULL of challenges! I've dealt with unexpected and unknown illness, having no money, no job, being in huge amounts of debt, a relationship breakup, moving my entire life several times. All while doing my best to keep my head above water, keep my new business flowing and my life in order! LIFE GETS HARD, goodness yes it does! Life throws lemons, and rocks, and buses. It hurts, it burns, it scars, it tears you open from the inside out! I've lost count of how many times I've cried my self to sleep. After years of studying yoga and meditation, and gaining so many tools for health and wellness, never did I think I would feel the wrath of depression again. But that sh*t is REAL. And everyone goes through hards times! Regardless to what you see on social media, never assume you know what's going on in someone's life. I'm not ok, and that's ok! Because if I didn't know what "not being ok" was , then I wouldn't have all the powerful opportunities to start checking in my self. Really, when "bad" things happen, I understand from a higher awareness that they are messages. Messages that something isn't quite right, something needs to change, something is not in alignment. These "bad" feelings are so important for me to constantly gain a deeper understanding of who I am and how I choose to show up in this world. They are the important messengers of the necessity of change or re-evaluation. I am ok with not being ok. It's a part of this beautiful reality I live called being human. If you are human too, know that it is ok to not be ok. It's a very necessary part of our experience. It's really about how you choose to respond to this "bad" that holds true power.
