Good evening, ladies! Hope you all had a nice, fulfilling Monday! Today is my last posing tips post for these series, and soon I plan to create a few short videos with more posing tricks for you, as I can still tell more during the video than type in a single post, and I can show you movements, distance from the camera, etc, much easier. Today, as I promised, we continue to discuss our hand positions during your portrait session. When you think what to do with your hands, remember that we use our hands to direct the viewers' eye, so be aware where you place your hands and where your fingers point to. To avoid two most common mistakes with posing hands and arms, make sure your hands are relaxed (think "ballet hands"), and never press your arms to your body, because it makes them look larger and not flattering this way. Make sure your waist line is visible, so place your arms either away from your body, or move them closer to the stomach area, leaving your waist line open in any case. Just make sure you still leave some space also between your arm and your chest (so move your arm a bit toward the camera), but at the same time avoid pointing your elbow right at the camera, as it will create a weird optical illusions about length and size of your arms. A few words about hands: it's better visually to turn them to their side from the camera angle (side view), because hands tend to get attention away from your face. But if your goal is flirty posing, you can use your hands driving attention to the certain parts of your body, by touching neck or lips, for example. This is such a huge topic to talk about hand posing, so stay tuned, and I will work on a series of videos for you, where I can explain and show you better. And we will also talk about posing legs, and some sitting positions that are flattering. Any suggestions and questions are welcome! #handposing #posingarms #posingtips #richmondphotographer #fireartstudiosphotography #richmondportraitphotographer #posingtips #howtopose #howtoposelikeamodel

Hi ladies! Do you feel most nervous in front of a camera, because you don't know what to do with your hands? It feels awkward to let them hanging down like noodles, and it feels weird to put them behind your back, and you can't think about any better placement?.. And if you are having a family photo session, it makes it even worse: should you hug your husband or just sit next to each other trying to smile and look happy? Unfortunately, you can't look happy, if you feel uncomfortable, unsure, or tense, and this is why we have all these Monday-Tuesday posts, to learn easy tricks that will make your photo shoot experience much more relaxing. So let's talk about your hands and arms. As you remember, we talked about your best body angles and putting weight on your back leg. So what to do with your arm that is closer to the camera? You look your best, if you define your shape and your waist line, no matter what age or size you are. Baggy clothing might look flattering on your body, but will make you look larger on your photos. So make sure you accentuate your waist line, so this is why your arms shouldn't cover it. Don't ever just hang your arms down along the sides. Use your closer to the camera arm to create a triangle between your elbow and your waist line. You can put it on your hip or have it slightly down the hip, or behind your back if leaning to the wall; just remember two important things: 1. You should have negative space between your defined waist line and your arm (otherwise you will look much larger than you are), and 2. Your fingers should be relaxed; the best weight point is your thumb, other fingers are soft and flexible (think "ballet hands"), otherwise you will look tense and nervous. A few words about your back arm: you can just hide it, but make your hand visible as it comes out on your hip or leg. Or you can connect it with your front arm, shoulder, or neck; we will talk about it later. And please don't forget about shoulders; always keep them down and your spine straight. If you feel too much tension on your shoulder area, just move them around until they are relaxed #richmondportraitphotographer #richmondvaphotographer #posinghands

Hi everyone! This week let me explain you how leaning forward can make a difference on your photos, and we will also discuss what to do with your arms in front of a camera. In my earlier post I told you about high and low angle, and which one to choose for which reason. Unfortunately, if you want to look both slimmer and more confident at the same time, it's not easy to do, as to portray confidence and power we usually choose low angle, but at the same time it makes your body larger and your head smaller. Don't worry, I have a special trick for you today: all you need is to lean forward to the camera! And remember, don't hold your camera too low; ideally it's between your eyes and your chin, but it still makes you feel more powerful. And if you lean forward (just a bit to make it look natural and friendly (don't bend!), your head and top of your body will be closer to the camera than your middle part. You can lean in any position, standing or sitting, or even leaning on a chair or table. What does it make people feel as they look at your photos? They feel your confidence / power, and welcoming / friendly attitude at the same time, because if you have a conversation with someone and they lean to you, their body language tells you that they are interested to hear what you have to say, and it makes you feel good, doesn't it? Why not make your potential friends or clients feel this way just by looking at your photo? We all want to deal with people who make us feel good. Slide attached images to see more examples. Tomorrow we will talk about arms and hands placement, which is huge topic to discuss. See you tomorrow! Happy Monday, my friends! As promised, we continue with some more posing tips and tricks for you to look attractive on your pictures, whenever it's a selfie, or you pose for a photographer who doesn't guide you through it. Where you place your camera or a phone makes a huge impact on the final photo. Each person is unique and has different concerns, but there are some universal rules to consider. A high camera angle (above your eye level) will focus on the face, make it slimmer, hide your double chin if any, and add volume to your hair; just remember to not hold your camera too close, as I explained in my last post. This is also good for a heavier set person, if you capture more than just a headshot, to help them look slimmer, if they wish so. A low camera angle (below your eye level) can make you look taller, your head smaller and more round, and also uses for a purpose to appear more powerful. It might be not flattering for most people, because it makes your body look larger than your head, and is better to avoid if you try to hide a double chin. Of course, there are a lot of other tricks I use for my clients to make them look slim, even if I shoot from the low angle. I will share some in my separate post tomorrow. For now, please remember: if you shoot from the high or low angle, do not make it too drastic. High angle doesn't mean holding camera above your head; it means above the eye level. And low angle is best if you hold your camera below your eye level, but not lower than your chin. So tomorrow we will talk about how to look both powerful and slim on your photo; it's especially important for professional shots, when you need to be portrayed as both confident and attractive. If you have any specific questions about it, post a comment. Have a great day! #posingtips #richmondphotographer #professionalheadshot #richmondphotography #professionalposing #glamourphotographer #richmondportraitphotographer #richmondportraits #lookslimmer #powerfulheadshots

Ladies, if you are thinking about a boudoir or glamour shoot, you might feel not ready because of your "extra pounds", body shape, "wrinkles", or any other "concerns" that others might not even notice. If your photographer is skilled, you don't see "body shape", you see "beautiful". You can be photographed from the most attractive for you angles, and your photos will scream beauty as you have a great time just being yourself, playing with fabrics, and your favorite outfits and props. It is about your feel and mood, your personality and inner power; this is what attracts others and makes you happy. Don't you worry about your extra pounds; a professional photographer should be able to pose you the best way, sculpt with the right lighting, and do smart retouching. There are so many things I use to portray my clients the best way possible; but most importantly we work on your mood and emotion. If the experience is fun and guided, you feel comfortable and confident, and this is how i get the best portraits of my clients! Technical skills, posing, lighting, and retouching knowledge saves me time to focus on your emotional state, create a comfortable and relaxing experience and get your inner fire out! Yes, everyone is nervous at first, and this is normal. But we do this together, and I do every pose with you, and we laugh and talk about things you love, and at the end you see and discover how beautiful you are, no matter of your age or shape. You can be dazzling, bright, and attractive! If you want to try it and see for yourself for a low promotional price, I still have a few spots left for my mini boudoir sessions only till February, 15! Boudoir portrait is a great personal gift not only for your significant other, but for you as well; it's a gift of confidence! #richmondphotographer #valentinesdayphotoshoot #richmondboudoir #richmondportraitphotographer #womaninred #boudoirshoot #glamourshots #valentinesdaygift #valentinesday2019 #lookfabulous #feelbeautiful #richmondvalentine #confidenceportraits #lookfabulous

Good morning, my friends! Yesterday we started talking about how to pose for flattering headshots, so let's continue today. Many photographers suggest you to also move your chin down, in addition to pushing it forward, to define your jaw line even further. To me, it doesn’t fit everyone, because we all have different facial shapes and features we want to focus on or hide. Should you move your chin up or down? It depends on your specific concerns. When you move it down, it makes your forehead and eyes larger, your nose longer, and your face thinner and more defined. When you move it up, it makes your chin larger, your nose and forehead smaller, and your face rounder. For example, I want my nose look smaller and don't mind my face to look more round, so I always pose my chin forward and up. Look at the image I attached to show you how drastic the change can be, if you simply move your chin up or down. Another example, my friend is concerned about her round face, and also wants to make her nose look thinner, so I pose her slightly to the side (45 degrees), to make her face and her nose look slender. There are also a lot of other tools you can use to make your features stand out or hide them, to define volume or to make it flat. Whatever you use, don't overdo it. Tomorrow I will tell you the easiest way to distort and "ruin" your facial features that most don't even think about. Stay tuned, and feel free to comment if you have any questions! #posingtips #richmondphotographer #lookbeautiful #posingright #lookfabulous #attractivephoto #fireartstudiosphotography #richmondphotographer #richmondportraitphotographer #richmondportraitphotography #professionalphotographer

Did you always have a healthy relationship with your body? We, women, are so critical of our looks, especially on the tough stages of life. Whenever going through divorce or relationship problems, we might start questioning ourselves, to figure out what makes us unhappy with ourselves. Often we feel ashamed of our body. I meet many women who want a boudoir session, but don’t feel beautiful and fit enough, and most of the time because they “need to lose a few pounds first”. The paradox is that boudoir session with a photographer who knows how to find the most beautiful angles for women of any body shapes and sizes can be truly a life changing experience and something that changes your perspective about your body. You feel more beautiful and confident after the boudoir session, and as a result, you do become more attractive to people. Confidence is your best beauty tool! People perceive you the way you perceive yourself. And boudoir session is a great tool to boost your self-confidence. How does the photo session help you? First of all, this is a bold experience, which let you BE and accept yourself as a feminine, beautiful being. It’s fun, exciting, a bit scary, but it pays off! When you see the ready images, you start seeing yourself from a different angle, the glorious, dazzling, and sensual you! And no, you don’t need to lose pounds to have beautiful pictures taken, if your photographer knows how to use camera angles, lighting, and posing for great results. The best thing is that once you fall in love with your body again, it might start changing to become even more beautiful; this is how confidence works. Happiness attracts more happiness! #boudoirshoot #boudoirphotographer #richmondboudoir #richmondphotographer #richmondportraitphotographer #richmondvaphotographer #confidencephotoshoot #confidenceboost #feelbeautiful #feelconfident #valentinesday2019 #valentinesphotoshoot #valentinesdayboudoir

Even though they can be a challenge, I still love when couples include their fur kids. ❤️🐶 So I came to know Erica and Phil a few years ago through my brother and sister-in-law as they all attend the same church in Arlington, Va. These two have been through more together than most young couples their age, and unfortunately, they are now going through another difficult trial. If you’re the praying sort, please keep them in yours... this week especially. Pray for strength and courage for both and most of all healing for Erica.
