Don’t let others negative feelings bring you down, people often portray what they’re feeling inside, so if someone is treating you badly and there doesn’t seem to be an explanation - try not to take it to heart and instead react with kindness. HOWEVER sometimes people are just d*ckheads so factor that one in too and let things go over your head instead of giving them the reaction they want - you will feel better & leave them to question their unprovoked behaviour.

PROUD.. still fluctuating between a 7-9 on the pain scale but I’ve found positive ways to cope all weekend. Instead of freaking out and focusing on how terrible I feel I’ve been coaching myself through the waves of pain thinking about @mindfulmigraine words. “I work hard for my body and my body works hard for me”. Every flare up, has a flare down. Relax. Breathe. I can do this, it will pass. I’m ok. Breathe... ⁣ ⁣ Don’t get me wrong, I’ve reached for the pain killers (but not the ones I wanted to) I’ve cried, I’ve been frustrated that I have to ask for my husband to help with basic tasks because I’ve lost a lot of my ability to function but I’ve shown up for myself this weekend and I’ve really tried to remain calm, positive and grateful for the smallest things throughout 💕 ⁣ ⁣ If you’ve had a tough weekend I hope you can find 15 minutes to show yourself some love, in whatever form that is for you. If you look in the mirror and constantly tell yourself you don't like your body, it's only temporary and that you will work hard to change it, how do you think your relationship with your body will be? The perfect body doesn't exist - so next time you stand in the mirror, take a look at the parts you don't feel are perfect and change the conversation with yourself. Tell yourself and your body that you love it and/or your imperfections because... If you do this daily, after a few weeks, check in with how you're feeling and see if you notice a deeper connection with yourself and even improved happiness. I know it can be hard - particularly for women, but we are worth more than the size and shape of our body. RESTORE Today is all about self care 💛 I'm looking forward to a day of restorative yin yoga, pranayama practice, guided meditation, delicious food and beautiful surroundings. It's so important to take time out to reflect and restore so that we maintain a healthy level of energy and compassion. It's not always easy! All sorts of things can get in the way including pressures, demands, emotions, physical health, lack of time...Perhaps not surprisingly it tends to be our emotions (guilt) and beliefs around self care (i.e that we are being 'selfish') that prevent us from attending to this much needed area of our wellbeing. I'm sure you can all relate. This is why I feel it is important to pause and reflect to consider where our energy is being drawn and to learn how to replenish and restore it so that we don't feel fatigued, empty or drained. How do you take care of your self? Do you find it easy? I'm interested to hear about your experiences 🙏

I want to talk about this briefly because it’s one of the things that has helped me the most!⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ We all have an inner child. All of us. 👩‍👦 Nurturing ourselves in the way we would a child switches up the perspectives we have on ourselves. If you’re incredibly hard on yourself, set high expectations and get impatient with yourself too, you might need this especially. 🌻⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Reparenting, to me, is about providing my inner child with the support they need. And this is two sided:⁣⁣ •Being loving, patient and gentle with ourselves in times when we are feeling sad, fragile or scared makes the most incredible difference. ❤️ ⁣⁣ •And on the other hand, there’s times where we might need some more discipline, boundaries and a firm approach - and being able to do this with yourself in a supportive way will also help enormously.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ It might be that you were missing some parental support, emotionally or practically, as a child and so it’s really important for you to give that to yourself now. Or it may be that you are just missing these influences, guidance or support in your adult life. And instead have an inner critic making life difficult and painful. The good news is that we can absolutely provide ourselves with all of the things a positive parent would. Although it is wonderful to receive support and love externally, you have everything within you to give it to yourself now. Day 78 of 120 Yesterday I binged The anxiety of waiting for the Singapore contract finally caught up with me Lots of pineapple cream cake, two packets of chips and beer To be fair, I am on my 77th day of no-white-sugar program and it's a reasonable that recovering sugar addicts will give in at some point Unlike alchohol or drugs, sugar is every where around you. Being offered blatantly everywhere you see-supermarkets, cafes, canteens It's also socially acceptable to carry it around, consume it thru the day and offer it to ppl around you Staying off it is hard AF! So I would say I've done quite well. And i am proud of myself Bend, so you don't break is my mantra this yr So yesterday i just accepted that i needed to hv some. Gave myself some love instead of self beating #selflove and #selfcompassion are learned behaviours. Ones that don't come easily to us women Anyway, the analysis i hv done in my head tells me I hv been experiencing latent #anxiety since 26 Jul when the firm in SG told me they would like to hv me as a Consultant on board but cannot sponsor my work permit SG has been very protectionist abt their work visas since the last 3 years. It's election yr for them this yr and their govt is scrutinising employers more than job seekers. Firms are afraid to file for work visas So we've been trying to figure alternatives And one of the alternatives requires me to wait J.u.s.t w.a.i.t Just the kind of thing that bubbles and froths anxiety in me It's a clever alternative, i must admit. And one that only this firm cud hv come up with So it tells me that they are sincere abt their intentions to hv be join them in SG But, it's hard hard hard hving to wait for the universe to work it's course God, give me peace. Give me strength p.s - This is me at the beautiful #LeelaPalaceChennai praying to God for the same thing. It helps that they have so much beauty and quiet there, it's easy to stay still and pray

There’s this sense that I’ve had since I was young that I am a bystander to the whole world there’s “them” and then there’s “me” and I have never been worthy significant or special enough Enough to be in the game. It didn’t matter that I was successful growing up (as per what the status quo of “success” looks like for children — a twisted concept) I never saw a place for myself in the world. And maybe that’s a sign that I wasn’t successful as a child. A method of survival head down stay out of the way don’t strive too much or care about anything in any particular way (risking ridicule) Avoiding disappointing myself? No... Avoiding humiliation, failure in the eyes of my parents. Scrutinizing eyes. I remember in school the idea of “goals” stressed me out (at the time I had no idea why). Why would I want to set a goal? I was already ticking off all the appropriate boxes for adult approval. Why would I set myself up to fail, when I could succeed without trying too hard? Set the bar low, where I know I can reach it. I wasn’t interested in challenges for personal growth. If you don’t set goals Don’t have a plan you can do what you’re doing make it look okay fit those social norms... and, mostly, people leave you alone. I’ve set and achieved some goals in the past few years. It was hard for me to believe that I was worth it. I had to give myself permission to fail, just in case that happened. I had to be open to the path unfolding. In my career, I haven’t ever Ever set any goals. I didn’t even have a goal to finish school. I wanted to drop out in 3rd year, and probably should have. I gave up that idea in response to my mother’s pleading — who didn’t help at all (in any way, even emotionally) with my education. She lived vicariously through mine and my sister’s accomplishments and really wanted to have “a daughter who graduated from University.” I am saddled with debt now. I don’t regret finishing, that’s just what happens when you keep on going to school until it’s over, 4 years later. Yeah, I’ve got that paper. It’s helped a bit. I’ve developed my own strange kind of career path. But none of this was my goal or dream. Continues 🌸

That it’s important for your health to have these girlfriends. 🖤 This hype about girl pals and this image of friendships can kind of being discouraging. It bummed me out made me feel less then so I had to really think about why, break it down. 🖤 Life, trauma , chronic , mental illness can cause lots of built up anxiety about friendships. I do think having a trusted crew of people and support system is important. BUT I think family , fur babies , a few close friends whatever it’s to you is a support system. 🖤 If you feel strong & supported then you have the right crew. If you are working on yourself and keeping your boundaries & honouring where you are at the you are on the right track 🖤🖤🖤

Day 17: just be 💙 I can cultivate compassion for myself by not trying to rebuild what I had- but honoring everything that’s happened for me, letting go and creating something new. That’s so common with trauma: people think healing is being the person they were before the trauma occurred- but it’s meant to transform us. We’re not supposed to be who we were before. By drawing on my many, many strengths- one in which The Emperor represents: my logic. My divine masculine🤴🏽 My protectiveness. An older man gave me advice recently this past Thursday too (a new intern we have at my agency- & he reminded me to advocate for myself). Focusing on my perseverance. My inner strength and bravery. My confidence. & Utilizing all these traits & skills I’ve always had to overcome self-doubt, fears & anxieties. I’ve survived so much already. Reframing the way I think about things and shifting my focus to the present and what I’m grateful for. Really being mindful of myself and meeting myself where I’m at & honoring that placement without judgment. There’s way too much going “right” to focus on what’s going/what has gone “wrong”. Even if its listing 10 things I’m grateful for every morning. Reflecting on what I’m learning from my challenges instead of the challenge itself. Gratitude journaling! I want to comfort, soothe and validate internally; while motivating, protecting & providing externally. Learning to work WITH my self-critic- not against it. Because love turned inwards allows our light to shine bright for others ✨ I’m part of something much larger than myself. 1. Today I took three young boys on a day trip, solo. 2. I figured out how to drive a golf cart, which felt like a go cart, and I’m terrible at driving go carts. 3. I drove into forbidden parts of Catalina, blondly driving right past the many, large warning signs - and ending up at the sewer plant where we were all gagging for breath while I struggled to reverse us out. 4. I laughed the whole time because, 🤷🏼‍♀️. 6. This is one of the biggest gifts of sobriety. Being able to take my boys on little adventures and showing, by example, that mistakes can be funny, as opposed to frustrating and embarrassing. Mistakes make the story interesting. 7. All three said they could drive better than me. 8. Yep. #daytripping #soberaf

Today has been one of those days of reflection. The perfect balance of business and family and gratitude. I may be a tad emotional as I prepare for my oldest (age 11) and my youngest (age 3) birthday parties tomorrow. Time truly goes so fast and I’m so grateful I’m able to be such a big part of their lives. It’s been a long summer of chaperoning my middle child’s (age 4) field trips and as rough as they are (bless every teacher and their patience), it meant the world to my son that I was able to be there. The days are long but the years are short... make them count.

Have you considered the beauty of all your imperfections. Looked deeply into the rawness of your wounds and seen how they weep, felt into all that oozes out of the edges, as life's way of teaching us just how real pain is. We all feel it, we all experience it, we all understand a depth of pain. We don't need to push it aside or move it into a more comfortable place. Have you considered the ease you create within someone else's heart when you speak of your pain, how it's shaped you, made you who you are, and continues to each and every day, still. And have you considered that your own heart is so deeply precious, something to be treasured, to not push the emotions aside or hide pieces that are parts of you. All you. There is no such thing as imperfection. There's just a willingness to see it and look at it with eyes of the most compassionate love. And you know that love because how else do you reach through challenges, or change or transitions, except by seeing that love ahead and within, grasping at it, because you feel it's anchor, it's hold on you. The kind of love that dances with your reflection, sings songs to the parts you've kept hidden for so long, runs like rivers through your viens that gives you life to breathe. Have you considered the beauty inside yourself. Have you looked long enough to see beyond any shred of doubt that why else would you be here, now, unless there's something that already knows and yearns to feel held, listened to, seen beyond measure. As the edges of our wounds heal, we soften. As the bleeding stops and the wound becomes a scar, our hearts open. You see, when you consider pain as the parts of you that are most beautiful, you would show your wounds, and you'd say unapologetically, this is who I am. Or perhaps you'd just write it and send notes in a bottle across the sea, and someone a million oceans away, who needed to read this, would find it, and trust that within themselves, they too know this pain, this tender dance and song of love. It's a lifetime kind of love that grows inside, then expands around us with all that we do. If it weren't for pain we wouldn't understand. Have you considered the beauty in this. With love x

Why then, do we “beat ourselves up” when stress is high and we’re in the pit of a challenge? . . A new job ⚠️ leads to people-pleasing, emotional eating, sleepless nights, and binge-drinking . A breakup ⚠️ leads to thoughts of being worthless, insecure, and derailed, while refusing to eat, shower, or talk to friends . . Money stress ⚠️ leads to finding an escape with social media, tv, worry, or gossip and then a relapse with our exercise routine. . I don’t know anyone who would encourage or allow a friend or loved one to think or behave in any of those ways.....🔴SO...WHY would anyone ever allow or encourage this in the way they relate to themself ❓ . . ‼️ACTION STEP‼️ When the next challenge arises in your life...BEWARE🚫of relating to yourself with . ❌criticism . ❌isolation . ❌denial . ❌ punishment . .
