One of the things I have struggled with my whole life is feeling good in a bikini. This last year has definitely been a year of positive growth in this area, however, it is still a struggle some days. . When we were in Thailand recently, we spent most days in our swimming costumes and I felt so happy that I could put on my bikini without any worries! 🎉 . However, on this particular day I asked Aidan to take a picture of me looking out into the ocean. The first thing I did after he took the picture was turn around and ask him if you could see any of my back fat 🤷🏻‍♀️ In that moment I even shocked myself. I was in one of the most beautiful places I had ever seen and I was worried about back fat 😳 It was a major wake up call for me! . So what if I have a little back fat, or a tummy roll or cellulite? It doesn’t change who I am! It has no impact on my abilities to love people or make a difference! . This is so relevant for me right now. I tried to post about this earlier today, but I ended up deleting it before I hit post. I’ve been struggling the last two days with my body image and my self worth. I considered not sharing this because I know my page aims to promote these things and I didn’t want to let you all down, but the truth is, we all have bad days. In high school I was extremely strict with my dieting and would over exercise to try and stay slim. I’ve managed to overcome a lot of those bad habits, but I still fall into some emotional potholes from time to time and start to feel as though I’m not enough. I shared a caption last night about how you don’t need to look a certain way in order to be worthy of love, and this is something I really struggle with. As much as I am so passionate about body positivity and supporting women of every shape and size, I often fall into the trap of feeling as though I am not worthy unless I am in my best possible physical shape. This obviously isn’t a healthy mindset and it leads to a negative cycle where I continue to eat badly and feel unmotivated because I feel unworthy, which makes me feel worse and so forth. I wanted to share this with you all not to be negative but to reinforce that we all have bad days and we all have some bad habits, be it physical or emotional, that it can take years and years to overcome. Keep at it, recognise what you recurrently struggle with, seek support from those that you love, surround yourself with people that make you feel empowered and remember that you are enough, you are always enough 💛

when I said we had big things coming, I wasn’t kidding! Jillian and I have talked about things that were useful or would have been useful to us in residential treatment, and one thing that was never lost on us was the effect of mail. whenever mail was delivered, residents would crowd the staff desk, not necessarily looking for mail for themselves, but simply excited about the possibility of mail for someone else. one of the rcs (residential counselors) compared our reactions to those of military troops getting mail on deployment. while we weren’t fighting for our country, we were fighting for our lives, and separated from family. the transition into res is so super hard, and so is the treatment, but it is one of the most worthwhile things you can do. I woke up yesterday and instantly wanted to cancel on my morning coffee date. Not because I was tired or didn’t feel good. But because it meant putting myself out there. And that scared the shit out of me. I’ve struggled to make friends all my life and let me tell you something, girlfriend. It can be so freaking lonely.⠀ ⠀ So today I chose to do the thing that scared me and went to breakfast with a woman that I met at #ptbb2019 last weekend. HOLY CRAP!⠀ ⠀ We have SO much in common and both have struggled in the past to find “our tribe”. And that was so refreshing to hear. 😌⠀ ⠀ I’m not alone. I’m not the only weirdo who would rather go hiking or meal prep on the weekend instead of wine tasting or clubbing.⠀ ⠀ I’m not the only one who chooses to put my health first instead of eating foods that make me feel sick.⠀ ⠀ I’m not the only one who dreams of helping people and living every single day with purpose and intention.⠀ ⠀ .....I have been lonely most of my life and I thought there was something wrong with me. But the truth is, I’ve been surrounding myself with the wrong people.⠀ ⠀ So this message is for YOU! I was listening to a podcast this morning about the traits of highly successful people (something I'm becoming super obsessed with btw!) and this was one of them. Highly successful people, those who achieve and surpass their goals no matter what they may be, never ever give up. And what's more, they KNOW that failure is part of the road to success. Why? So I did so good catching up and then was so drained (thanks Fibromyalgia 😑) after cooking the whole Thanksgiving Dinner yesterday I forgot to post!!!!! So here is my final day for #fallorbalance and I chose Tree pose because it is one of my fave go-to balance. The minute I used to lift 1 foot to try this pose I would just start wobbling so bad (it could be my left ear having almost no hearing that makes my balance so bad because it has been bad my whole life).... It still takes me a few moments to breathe into it and find my balance but I can achieve it everytime and bring my foot back down without falling!! Wins!!! Something I feel strongly about: getting rid of negative self-talk and not caring what others think.⠀ ⠀ For so long, that was the only dialogue I had with myself and it takes a toll on your mindset. Something that has helped me have a lot more positive self-talk was, every time I had a negative thought, I’d replace it with two positives. So that way, I always had more positivity than negativity so my thoughts overall became more positive. *mind blown* 😂⠀ ⠀ I can remember always trying to keep up with the “trends” even if I didn’t really like them because hello?! I was in middle school/high school and didn’t want to stand out or look different than my friends (anyone have these same feelings?) BUT do you know what I’ve learned since then? I am supposed to look different, act different, BE different. I own my weirdness now and take pride in being different 🤷🏼‍♀️😈⠀ ⠀ So who’s with me on turning our negatives into positives and to stop giving a crap about what others think?! 🥂

Let me tell you something about wild possibilities. Back in March, when I was in the depth of my struggles with anxiety, I actually took an online course on anxiety recovery. (Forreal!)⠀ ⠀ It was helpful in a variety of ways, but one of the first things that really helped me was the importance placed on visualizing a positive future for yourself. ⠀ ⠀ When you’re battling anxiety, you spend a lot of time thinking about negative outcomes. You look for danger everywhere, and it’s hard to see beyond the fog of fear that hangs over everything. ⠀ My physical symptoms were so severe, so uncomfortable, so terrifying that I was convinced every day going forward would be some version of the torture I felt I was living at that time. Things looked bleak to say the least. ⠀ ⠀ But when I heard this advice—to spend time actively TRAINING your brain to imagine a beautiful future where you are healthy and happy—I knew it was a worthy pursuit. I would lay on the ground in my bedroom (this was when I was still too dizzy to even sit-up still) and I would picture myself strong. I would picture myself running, and laughing, and feeling “normal” again. After practicing this for a while, I started to kind of up the ante. I wouldn’t just imagine myself going back to the way I was, I would imagine myself even BETTER than before. Stronger than I could imagine. Happier than I could imagine. Freer than I could imagine. More peaceful than I could imagine. I would always stretch the boundaries of my imagination and challenge myself to reach for a future that was WILD and beyond what was in front of me. ⠀ ⠀ I’m not saying that belief alone is what healed me. It was a LOT of tiny habits and commitments and support and experimenting with different things and I’m STILL healing. But holding tight to the the belief that my future held possibilities that went well beyond my imagination gave me an immense amount of hope, and that hope is what fueled me every day—especially when I was exhausted from the fight. ⠀ ⠀ If you’re still in a struggle, remember that the future is still unwritten. Practice imagining a WILD future of beautiful things beyond what this moment leads you to expect. 💛💪

I have a question for you. How many times have you said the phrase, “I’ll start over on Monday”? Or what about, “I’ll begin tomorrow”? I remember saying those words so much that it got to a point where I straight up knew I wasn’t going to follow through, it just made me feel better to say it. What if you didn’t wait until tomorrow? What if you started right now, today? How would your life change? Improving your health is not a start and stop process. That is the dieting process. Improving your health is making small changes overtime, that will create life long habits. You do not have to make this overwhelming commitment to change everything about your life and deprive yourself of all the food you enjoy. You do not have to make this overnight transformation, where you eat and exercise perfectly from that point on. That is just NOT realistic and honestly, you’re setting yourself up for failure if that’s your expectation of yourself. Small steps add up to BIG transformations. ✨ Maybe today, start with drinking half your body weight in water. Maybe today, start by incorporating 30 minutes of movement. Maybe today, start by being honest about your intentions, goals, and what it means for YOU to get healthier. Where can you start to take small steps in improving your health, TODAY? 👇

Let’s talk about vulnerability for a minute. Say all you want about how damaging social media can be (because yes it absolutely can be in some ways if you let it) BUT I think it is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL that some people have been brave enough to be their true selves, share their realest stories, and use it as a platform to inspire others to do the same. I think we are so moving in the right direction spreading so much awareness about so many things. . However, I want to challenge you to take it a step further. It’s easier to share a story about what you’re going through on a keyboard than it is to be vulnerable enough to GENUINELY, AUTHENTICALLY be true to yourself in EVERY MOMENT of your life, not just your Instagram caption. . Gulp. That is HARD WORK. To speak how you feel regardless of the company you’re in. To never change your opinion when the entire room disagrees with you. To preach love and actually act on it, even when someone cuts you off in traffic. To ask for help when you need it. To be proud of what you do regardless of what someone else might think about it. To dress in a way that makes you feel comfortable, not everyone else. To advocate for things you’re passionate about even if people make fun of you for it. . We’re all human, and I don’t know that anyone alive can truly be 100% vulnerable in all situations, but I hope tomorrow you’re brave enough to take one step closer to allowing the world to see your truest self in all of the smallest decisions you make. The world needs YOU.

A lot of people want to give you their opinions about what loving your body should look like. ⁣ ⁣ Again and again I see comments that say “ this is just an excuse to eat whatever you want, whenever you want”. ⁣ ⁣ When in fact it’s all about unlearning the diet culture BS and it’s rules that we’ve been taught since we were kids. ⁣ ⁣ Those diet rules that tell you what is acceptable to eat and what isn’t. ⁣ ⁣ Those rules that tell you what is an acceptable weight to be and what isn’t.⁣ ⁣ Those rules that tell you what exercise is “best” for you and what isn’t.⁣ ⁣ Abide by these rules and you will be happy and have a great life. But when in reality they sink you deeper and deeper into shame about your body and who you are as a human. ⁣ ⁣ Unlearning all of this DOES NOT mean you’re giving up on taking care of yourself. ⁣ ⁣ Unlearning all of this is meant to HELP you take care of yourself in a way that feels amazing to YOU. ⁣ ⁣ Not in a way that feels like your life has been sucked away and all that matters is that you’re “checking off all the right boxes”.⁣ ⁣ What some people think is “an excuse to eat whatever you want” is you learning how to eat without shame. Eat food without beating yourself up later. Removing that added layer that creates more overeating and binging. ⁣ ⁣ So I want you to know that I see you. ⁣ ⁣ Trying to love yourself when the world is telling you that you’re doing it wrong. ⁣ ⁣ But don’t give up.⁣ ⁣ There are mixed messages but you get to decide not to listen to any of them.⁣ ⁣ And from a place of love and kindness for yourself, deciding what “loving your body” looks like.⁣ ⁣ IT DOESN’T LOOK THE SAME FOR EVERYONE.⁣ ⁣ It’s okay to be afraid. It’s okay to go against the norm. ⁣ ⁣ Figuring out what it looks like for you is important and it matters. ⁣ ⁣ If you struggle with this but truly want to unlearn all of those things you’ve been taught that are moving you further away from a loving relationship with yourself…then don’t hesitate to DM me, I’m here to help. ❤️

October 14,2019 •••••• Today I decided to continue myself love journey because there is still so much I need to learn about myself and work on that I can’t put it off anymore. If I want to heal and live a life that makes me happy then I have to focus on me everyday. I plan on starting to get into healthy routine. •••••• I start my mornings with my journal which is kept in my nightstand. I write down the bible verse that appears on my phone for the day. I then write down 5 things I am grateful for and 5 goals I have for the day. I then make my bed, brush my hair and teeth, put on my clothes, do my makeup get my lunch and breakfast ready, and go over the schedule for the day. I then take my morning vitamins and go about my day. This is usually when my self care would stop and I would come home and be done with me but I needed to do more. •••••• At the end of my day I would like to come home and complete 3 productive things and take my afternoon vitamins. However, today I just came home and read a little bit and watched tv which is okay it’s progress and I allowed myself to be okay with not doing everything I set out to do for the day. I am not going to beat myself up about now completing it all especially because today mother nature took her course. •••••• I did take my vitamins for the day , I did give myself some time to work on me, and I finally put the dishes away and loaded the dish washer. There are only 2 1/2 months left to 2019. You better believe I’m hitting those freaking goals harder than ever before. 💪🏼🌱 I remember first starting yoga when my goal pose was headstand. I practiced constantly until I got it. I would research all the conditioning poses and remember how wobbly and uncomfortable I was when I started but I was determined and kept practicing. Now I can pop up into headstand and any variation of it with no problem. Most things you want will take time, consistency and hard freaking work! It doesn’t happen over night. Am I old enough to be having a high school reunion already?? . That’s the thought that hit me this past winter when my classmates started asking about our 10 year class reunion 🤦🏻‍♀️ (btw, the answer is YES) 😂😂 . I can’t believe it’s been ten years... I remember leaving high school and feeling like I was going to grab life by the horns. I was unapologetic and sassy and outspoken and confident! . Fast forward a couple years with a super-destructive abusive and codependent relationship and deep depression. I was only a shadow of my former self. I didn’t recognize or even like the person I saw in the mirror. I had taught myself to be quiet and small. I was timid and shy and unsure and insecure. I am thankful every day that I had friends and family to help me see I was worthy of so much more than I was willing to accept. . When I finally plucked up the courage to walk away, it definitely wasn’t easy. The next year I struggled, I questioned my choices, and I beat myself up endlessly. It’s been a long journey back from hating myself enough to stay unhappy. But the last seven months, I have seen more personal growth than I ever thought possible. . Seven months ago I started mentoring other women to take back their health and put themselves back at the top of their priority list. And my job became doing the same thing for myself. I started telling myself I am important and worthy and capable of achieving my biggest dreams- because after all, if I couldn’t believe it for myself, how could I possibly instill that belief in others who were asking me to help them find their strength?? . I finally like who I see in the mirror again. I see a glimmer of that 18 year old sassy, confident girl. And I hear her when I speak. I am so grateful for the opportunities I have had through coaching, the friendships I have made, and the lives I get to help change. But most of all, I am so grateful to feel like me, to love the person I see staring back in the mirror, and to know that I am worthy of happiness, love, and joy.

⠀ “I have got to prove Tim wrong.”⠀ ⠀ That’s what I told myself when I started my home fitness journey 6 years ago. ⠀ ⠀ He watched me for years on the yo yo diet wagon, always trying the next “best thing.”⠀ ⠀ I’d go to the gym for a week or two and then life would get busy, I’d fall off, and then feel so defeated (again) that it would take me months to start back up again. ⠀ ⠀ From weightwatchers to myfitnesspal to nutrisystem, to slim fast, to no carbs, to CrossFit, to Tim guiding me at the gym...I never stuck with it. I was filled with self doubt and excuses. ⠀ ⠀ Then when I was on another one of my “hey babe I’m gonna try this new fitness thing” rants, he said “you won’t even go to the gym after work, are you really gonna stick with a home workout program? You have some in the dvds you’ve never even touched.”⠀ ⠀ He was right. ⠀ ⠀ He wasnt trying to be rude, he was expressing the truth. ⠀ ⠀ This probably would be “just another thing.” ⠀ ⠀ Except this time, his words spoke to me a little differently...⠀ ⠀ I was sick of giving up on myself. ⠀ I was sick of quitting. ⠀ I was sick of how I felt. ⠀ I was sick of letting him down every time he believed in and supported another one of my fitness frenzies.⠀ ⠀ And I wanted a FAMILY 💙⠀ ⠀ So I decided. ⠀ ⠀ To show up every day. ⠀ To TRULY give this a chance. ⠀ To see what 60 days of dedication might do for me. ⠀ ⠀ And here I am 6 years later. ⠀ ⠀ Through life. ⠀ Through the ups and downs.⠀ Through the hard days.⠀ Through the doubt. ⠀ ⠀ I promise you if you’re reading this and can relate in ANY way...you are just as capable of changing that. ⠀ ⠀ But it’s up to YOU. ⠀ ⠀ Why do you want this? ⠀ How will it feel if you achieve it? ⠀ Is that worth the sacrifice you’ll have to make? ⠀ ⠀ It sure was for me ❤️⠀ ⠀ If you’re in need of a place to start I’d love for you to join my free accountability group focused on you having somewhere to check into for fitness/nutrition accountability every day so we can cheer you on! ⠀ ⠀ Drop a ❤️ if you’re gonna join us! 😘 And if you don’t, I hope you’ll find something that works for you and stop giving up on yourself. [Self portrait] • I was drowning in self hate. Who was this woman staring at me in the mirror? I didn’t know her well, she was new and 40 lbs heavier. An acquaintance I wanted to soon forget. • She followed me everywhere reminding me of the pain. She wouldn’t let it go, forcing me to recalculate every step, every set back, every block, every doubt, every break down. Telling me I was damaged and forgotten. • It felt like I would never get it back. Like I couldn’t control who I had become. I was lost but I had the map somewhere. Somewhere collecting dust. • I knew what I had to do. I approached the strange woman in the mirror and told her she had to go. She had no more power over me anymore. I was taking over now. • She visited every once in a while mocking my process & comparing me to them. She pulled on my flesh and sucked in my gut. She was persistent and evil. All my buttons were pushed and I was about to explode. • A familiar voice was yelling at me. I couldn’t see her but I knew her voice. GET UP! SHAKE IT OFF! CHALK UP LETS GO! DO IT AGAIN! AGAIN! AGAIN! The phrases had been drilled into my head since I was a little girl but now they were louder than ever. Maybe coach Cindy knew I would desperately need to cling to every word as an adult. She believed in me then, now I needed to believe in myself. • The strange woman stared at my reflection and laughed, mocking my every move. But I danced through the pain. I fought harder. I wanted this more than her. Headphones in, volume all the way up. Body and/or weight comments are not ok✋ Whether talking about weight loss, weight gain, or the shape of someone else's body, talking about and centering body size is harmful for many. Anddddd, it still happens. ⁠Allthetime ⁠🤦‍♀️⠀ ...⁠⠀ So, what can you do when these types of comments arise? Here are some ideas👇🏼 ...⁠⠀ > Simply walk away. Don't engage. The other person will get the idea. ⁠⠀ ⠀ > Change the convo, and don't acknowledge the comment at all. "Did you watch x last night?" ⁠⠀ ⠀ > Respond with a boundary. "I don't engage in body talk anymore, can you tell me about xyz?" ⁠⠀ ⠀ > Respond with education. "Mom, I love you a lot, and when you make comments about my body, I feel xyz. I've felt a lot better recently reading and listening to podcasts about intuitive eating. If you're interested, I can give you some recommendations" ⁠⠀ ...⁠⠀ What else has worked well for you? The REAL workout starts when the mind wants to QUIT. I fell off the wagon so to speak. Usually I eat mostly healthy with some treats sprinkled in. But, starting Thursday this switched. I managed to still get my workouts in but they were a lot harder! My body was feeling all the processed junk. My body tired out faster and mentally, I wasn’t feeling charged. It was a mental battle to not press stop the entire time. I don’t know if it’s all in my head, but my body feels more jiggly. I def am not loving my body today. This is where most people say f it all together. Thankfully, I know how to work past this. No, it’s not easy. I can literally start crying right now. But that will not get me anywhere. Instead, I have to work past this block and get my eating back in order because believe it or not, my journey is mostly about my mental wellness and I can feel my depression and anxiety knocking at the door. So bottoms up!!! My shake will help kick my cravings, my meal plan will get my eating back in order and I have a kickass tribe of women to keep me motived!!! Want to try it out for a week and see if it’s the right solution for u too? 👊🏼
