Well 10 weeks ago I got my Bent Press back. And that day I made a decision I was going to do something some people would think was really stupid. . I was gonna participate in @dolbystyles One Hour Long Cycle charity event and I was gonna Bent Press the whole time. . My goal was 675 reps with the 24kg (53 #s) and I some how got ahead of my clock and had 90 seconds left to sprint and encourage by some good friends I ended at 695 reps unbroken in the 60 minute time limit. . Endurance Bent Pressing makes you feel like you were in a car accident. But I was so happy that @adriannakara helped encourage me every week to stick this out and do something that no one else has seemed dumb enough to do. I didn't think I could keep the training up some times with my travel schedule and she kept me on course, so thank you. A big thank you also to my #IronClub family too. We raised almost 2,000 dollars for @walkwithsally. And if that 60 minutes showed me anything today, Its I may have gotten seriously injured a year ago. Believe it or not even with two weeks of travel I was lucky enough to keep up on my training for this year's One Hour Long Cycle. . Over the last two weeks I've spent time with some amazing people. One of which was man Gary here. . I met Gary while teaching at Power Monkey out in Tennessee. I get asked to jump in photos with folks all the time. But I asked Gary if he'd do me solid and take one with me. Gary's 71 years old and still kickin ass and I told him I wanted a photo for my guys Todd and Steve back home. Age ain't nothing but a number. That's one. Today felt like you've been turned to your back. It would be easy to give up and get pinned. But instead you fight, you get to your stomach, you get the other guy on his back and the stands go crazy. There were no cheering crowds today. Just the gentle him if chest freezers. Establish 20 rep max back squat. Decided to make a 20 # jump to 215 #. Rep nine felt awful and I wanted to quit and try lighter, but I pushed through and hit 20 reps. This is a 60 pound increase from our first testing a few weeks ago. I thought 155 # was killer then. That's four. Now I just have to make sure I wake up to the alarms to workout before work tomorrow to make it 5/5. Today was coach saying I have to wrestle with Coach during love wrestling because I need the challenge. It sucks, it's brutal, but I'm better for it. Except my shin. I forgot to wear my deadlift socks. 5 rounds of 75 single unders, 10 DKB front squats with two 53 # bells, and 5 deadlifts@255 #. 11:41. The front squats showed me down the most. Last night was a wrap to our last of 8 teaching blocks at this years #PMC8. Really hated to have to take off early to hit the road again but was really happy to get to work with all the campers before we had to leave. - @powermonkeyfitness really has a great thing going and I was super happy to be able to be part of it again with my guy @jeffmartone. - It was, as always, a blast getting to spend time with the guy I call Coach this week. Afternoon training before lunch and then evening coaching sessions. Haven't been posting to many workout lately cause they've been kinda boring as I train for an event. - And now that I'm tapering they aren't that much more exciting but this one was kinda fun, did the following. - 5 Rounds - 10 Alt. Dead Clean + Bent Press 10 Burpees 10 DxKB Dragon Flags - Dropped 2 Bent Presses each round just keeping my muscle memory fresh and we're teaching a ton of bells now anyways. - Been awesome hanging and training with @jeffmartone again this week. That's two. "Short time!" Coach yells it from the corner. It means dig deep and do something to score. That was today's workout. Finished the seventh round and two minutes were on the clock. I hustled through the KB part of the round and hopped on the rower made it 160m before the horn sounded. Today was a good day. Conditioning: 18 minutes AMRAP 10 ft KB farmer walk with 2 53 # bells, 4kb lunges,4 burpees, walk bells back to start, row 250m. Each round add ten more ft to the farmer walk, when you but 50 ft reset to ten feet. Workout called for 200m run but it's below 40 out there. That's one. Today was wrestling up a weight class and giving up 70 pounds to your opponent because coach needs a heavyweight. It's brutal and exhausting, but it feels fantastic when you win the match. Added another ten pounds to my 20 rep max back squat. Up to 175 and it felt easy and smooth. Conditioning was 2 rounds of: 6 ground to oh @155 #, 8 box jumps, 10 T2B, 4 ground to oh, 8 box jumps, 10 T2B, 2 g2oh, 8 box jumps and 10 T2B. Time was 13:31. This past weekend @adriannakara stepped onto the lifting platform for her first Kettlebell Meet. - The product of that effort was 133 rep in the single arm long cycle in 10 minutes. This result by itself is pretty amazing. But there was something else that made this accomplishment of hers even more important. - And that was the completion of AJ's training. - I am very proud to announce the I was able to award my first Black Bar to AJ this past Saturday. That bar signifies AJ becoming the first Club intern to complete the entire internship testing process and be promoted to the title of Master Level Iron Club Coach. - Today's article on Old Country Strong may be a tad long but it breaks down what this young lady did in the last three years to accomplish this goal. The title is "A journey of a Thousand Miles begins with a single step" and the link to that article is in my bio. If you don't have the time to read it or don't have any idea what this promotion really means then just know this. - The undertaking is a Herculean challenge that takes a large amount of time to accomplish. That's one. Really hoping to get beyond two this week. Today was like a practice after someone broke a major team rule. And the whole team gets a day of conditioning as punishment. It sucks, but you grit your teeth and dig deep to finish. Added 10 # to 20 rep max back squat. 165 #. And the conditioning. 800m run, 8 snatches@ 115 #, 10 pullups,10 dips, 750 m row, 16 snatches@ 95 #, 20 pullups, 300 single unders, 24 snatches@65 #, 30 pullups. 19:25.
