🌙 Sleep and Mood🌙⠀ This one’s all about the importance of sleep in our lives. It seems simple or common sense, but it is easy to forget just how important it is, and overtime become accustomed to getting less than we need for our well-being. AND it is important we recognize how sleep can impact our mood in some significant ways. While this posted information is only a tiny fraction of all there is to know about sleep, I hope it gets us thinking or even doing our own research on sleep. ⠀ ⭐️⠀ There are so many barriers to keep us from a restful sleep, and some of those may not be able to be avoided or changed. However, hopefully some of these tips can help us to find ways to prioritize sleep and get a more restful night’s sleep. ⠀ 🌟⠀ ❗️ Important note: If you’re having trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, or feeling tired/fatigued even after sleep, it is advised that you speak with your doctor or physician. It is important that medical conditions are assessed to determine whether they are or are not related to your sleep concerns. ⠀ ⭐️⠀ Totally off topic, but, I know these graphics have some typos and punctuation errors. I have the itch to go back and fix them all, but I checked in with myself and determined that doing so wouldn’t be the best use of my time right now given my other responsibilities. 👩🏻‍⚕️A lot of people ask me if sleep medicine is covered by insurance.⁣ ✅Generally speaking, sleep medicine is covered by insurance BUT there are some important things to consider AND every case varies so I’m going to try to explain some basic concepts so you’ll know the right questions to ask for yourself. ⁣ ‼️The first thing to understand is that the question “is this covered?” and “will I have out of pocket expenses?” are different questions. ⁣ 👉🏻You might have a deductible⁣ 👉🏻You might have a co-pay⁣ __________________________________________⁣ 🎯Call the number on the back of your insurance card and verify that the doctor you are going to see is “in network” with your plan to ensure the best coverage. ⁣ 🎯If you are having testing, ask the doctor’s office what CPT codes they use for billing and what they charge for a service (i.e. a consultation or a sleep test). This varies a bit from office to office. ⁣ 🎯You can also use the number on the back of your card to verify the CPT codes are covered under your plan. ⁣ 🎯Ask the doctor’s office if they charge facility fees which are common at large hospital based settings. This will significantly increase your copay if you have one. ⁣ __________________________________________⁣ 👩🏻‍⚕️I prefer not to think or talk to my patients about billing but I know that getting cost effective care is extremely important. Where are you on the dial today? I have noticed that more than any other time I can recall, we're ALL fluctuating all over the emotional dial right now. And that is ok, perfectly normal. Most of us are bouncing around pretty much all points of the emotional dial. Worse case scenarios, past losses and pain-points are being triggered. All interspersed with touching moments of positivity and joy, deep moments of connection, gratitude and appreciation. Flipping one side to the other within moments. A few weeks ago many dropped straight down into fear and uncertainty. Some of us have lost people in this process and have dropped into grief. Many people are sitting in insecurity right now - understandably. Others are popping into blame and anger of others’ behaviour right now. Not ideal but it is purposeful. Blame and anger is a higher energy emotion than fear and grief. It's part of the way our subconscious mind naturally processes the lowest emotions to try to get us to a higher emotional state. Our mind doesn’t want us to get stuck too long in the lowest states, but without help it will naturally work to turn that dial up one notch at a time. It’s a natural clearing method, a way to externalise the lowest emotions, to literally throw them out of our energy body. If we understood and accepted that it's a natural part of the clearing process... we could throw them out, without trying to land them on someone else. It is going to be different for everyone, because although it’s a collective experience our very individual and unique-to-us pain-points and triggers will be hit at each level. As you hit fear - it will trigger your stored fear triggers from the past. You might feel some of those old situations from the past manifest in a different form again. e.g if you were bullied as a kid, you might find an online hater appears to reenact and clear that old energy with you. As you hit grief it might trigger memories of the loss of loved ones in the past. Continued in comments..
