Auroras on Jupiter This image combines an image taken with Hubble Space Telescope in the optical (taken in spring 2014) and observations of its auroras in the ultraviolet, taken in 2016. Auroras are a natural electrical phenomenon characterized by the appearance of streamers of reddish or greenish light in the sky, especially near the northern or southern magnetic pole. The effect is caused by the interaction of charged particles from the sun with atoms in the upper atmosphere. In northern and southern regions it is respectively called aurora borealis or Northern Lights and aurora australis or Southern Lights. The Iris Nebula in a Field of Dust. These cosmic dust clouds drift some 1,300 light-years away along the fertile starfields of the constellation Cepheus. The beautiful Iris Nebula, also known as NGC 7023, blossoms at the upper left. Not the only nebula in the sky to evoke the imagery of flowers, its pretty, symmetric form spans about 6 light-years. This nebula's dominant blue color is characteristic of the pervasive dust grains reflecting light from a nearby hot, bluish star. But darker, obscuring dust clouds cover most of the nearly 4 degree wide field of view. At the right is the LDN 1147/1158 complex of Lynds Dark Nebulae. Stars are forming there, still hidden within the dark cloud cores. A search through the sharp image can identify Herbig-Haro objects though, jets of shocked glowing gas emanating from recently formed stars. #nasa #space #astrophotography #astronomy #sky #nature #photography #moon #science #universe #night #stars #galaxy #earth #iss #hubblespacetelescope #astrobiology #nightsky #astronomer #milkyway #cosmos #solarsystem #spacefacts #spacex #planet #star #photo #picoftheday #astronomyfacts #spacephotography

@LeSNE(151)......The fastest man made object to go out of the Solar System! Voyager 1 after being launched in 1977, went pass Jupiter in 1979 and Saturn in 1980! It has a top speed of 17.2 km/h but even with that speed, it won't reach near our second nearest star (Alpha Centauri) in the next 70,000 years! We don't know if human race would survive until then! But we can be sure that if Voyager 1 won't hit anything on its path, it will continue to move forward when Earth can no more be hospitable for life! The 'Pale Blue Dot' photograph taken by the probe when it was 6 billion km away from Earth still remains as one of the greatest photographs ever taken by Mankind. If anything could give it a competition, then it is the first ever photo of the Blackhole! If any aliens extract data from the probe ever... It will say.. WE EXISTED! Two teams of astronomers have discovered the largest and farthest reservoir of water ever detected in the universe. The water, equivalent to 140 trillion times all the water in the world's ocean, surrounds a huge, feeding black hole, called a quasar, more than 12 billion light-years away. "The environment around this quasar is very unique in that it's producing this huge mass of water," said Matt Bradford, a scientist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif. "It's another demonstration that water is pervasive throughout the universe, even at the very earliest times." Bradford leads one of the teams that made the discovery. His team's research is partially funded by NASA and appears in the Astrophysical Journal Letters. A quasar is powered by an enormous black hole that steadily consumes a surrounding disk of gas and dust. As it eats, the quasar spews out huge amounts of energy. Both groups of astronomers studied a particular quasar called APM 08279+5255, which harbors a black hole 20 billion times more massive than the sun and produces as much energy as a thousand trillion suns. Astronomers expected water vapor to be present even in the early, distant universe, but had not detected it this far away before. There's water vapor in the Milky Way, although the total amount is 4,000 times less than in the quasar, because most of the Milky Way’s water is frozen in ice. Slide 2 shows the quasar in all its detail. For the full story, hit the link in bio. . . . Planets that are of the Jupiter size orbiting close to their host stars whose orbit takes just 3 days to revolve around with no self-rotation causes extreme variations in the planet's atmosphere. During the day, their temperatures are so hot (around 1700°C) due to their proximity towards their host stars and the opposite side of the planet faces the extreme cold with temperatures around 800 degrees celsius (1472°F). Due to this shifting of day and night situations on the planet, minerals of the planet such as manganese sulfide or silicates may be vaporized due to extremely hot temperatures during the day forming rocky clouds. The nightside temperatures are probably the result of condensation of vaporized rock. A dead galaxy means that there are no new star births. During the early stages of our galaxy, very massive stars have formed with an elemental abundance of oxygen, magnesium and silicon also known as alpha elements. Due to their size, they died within a short period of time resulting in massive explosions forming type-2 supernovae. When shockwaves appeared and heated the gas to high temperatures 7 billion years ago, the gas has stopped flowing into the galaxy and stars ceased to form. During this period, the exploded stars started injecting iron into the gas and changed the elemental composition of the gas. As the gas cooled by emitting radiation, it began flowing back into the galaxy 5 billion years ago and made the second generation of stars rich in iron (which is our sun-like). "Verification of General relativity" . Albert Einstein's fame began in November 1919, after a historic meeting of the Royal Society and the Royal Astronomical Society in London. Arthur Eddington, the Plumian Professor of Astronomy at the University of Cambridge, and Frank Dyson, the Astronomer Royal, announced that their observations of a solar eclipse on 29 May from west Africa (Príncipe) and north-eastern Brazil (Sobral) had confirmed – almost for sure, but still with a margin of uncertainty – a key prediction of Einstein’s controversial theory of 1915. Light from distant stars passing the Sun, on its way to the Earth, is deflected by solar gravity through a particular angle, 1.75 arcseconds – twice the angle predicted by Isaac Newton’s theory of gravity. . #generalrelativity #relativity #epic #historic #pic #great #facts . 🇮🇳PHYSICSINDICA🇮🇳 . NASA Reveals New Gateway Logo for Artemis Lunar Orbit Way Station NASA's effort to develop and deploy a small space station in orbit around the moon now has its own logo. The agency's Johnson Space Center in Houston revealed the Gateway program logo in an update to its employee online newsletter on Tuesday (Sept. 17). The Gateway, which is sometimes referred to as the Lunar Gateway, is a component of NASA's Artemis program, which is focused on returning American astronauts — including the first woman — to the moon by 2024 before pushing onwards to Mars. "It is a bold look closely aligned with the Artemis brand. The logo symbolizes NASA's efforts to go forward to the moon and on to Mars," wrote Deepthi Cauligi, a communications strategist, for Johnson Space Center's Roundup Reads. #nasa #gateway #artemis #moon #mission #space #spacestation #apollo #logo #news #spacex #esa #astronautlife #astrophysics #astronomy #aerospace #nasagateway #nasa_gateway #physics #spacelovers #astronaut #fact #interesting #spacefacts #spacelife #lovenasa

Scientists have unveiled the first photograph ever captured of quantum entanglement, the physical phenomenon in which two or more “entangled” particles are connected via their quantum states, even across vast distances. Physicists at the University of Glasglow published the image and a report of their findings in the journal Scientific Advancesin a paper titled, “Imaging Bell-type nonlocal behavior.” The groundbreaking photo shows two entangled photons sharing physical states for a brief moment in time in a strong form of quantum entanglement called Bell entanglement. To create the photo, scientists pumped a beta barium borate (BBO) crystal with an ultraviolet laser, which produces quantum linked photons. This stream of entangled photons was then separated with a beam splitter, and the first photon was sent through objects that change the phase of photons passing through. An ultra-sensitive camera was triggered to capture photos of both entangled “twin” photons, resulting in the image of quantum entanglement. The scientists say that this pioneering photo opens the door to “a whole new class of quantum imaging demonstrations and techniques.” #nasa  #isro  #space  #time  #spactime  #spacefacts #spacefact  #stephenhawking  #stringtheory #quantumphysics  #timetravel  #tesla #theoryofrelativity  #einstein  #earth  #theblackhole #blackhole  #cosmophotography  #cosmology #cosmos  #interstellar  #infinity  #astrophysics #astronomy

The Laniakea Supercluster is the galaxy supercluster that is home to the Milky Way and approximately 100,000 other nearby galaxies. It was defined in September 2014, when a group of astronomers including R. Brent Tully of the University of Hawaii, Hélène Courtois of the University of Lyon, Yehuda Hoffman of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and Daniel Pomarède of CEA Université Paris-Saclay published a new way of defining superclusters according to the relative velocities of galaxies. The new definition of the local supercluster subsumes the prior defined local supercluster, the Virgo Supercluster, as an appendage. A Lunar Corona over Turin What are those colorful rings around the Moon? A corona. Rings like this will sometimes appear when the Moon is seen through thin clouds. The effect is createdby the quantum mechanical diffraction of light around individual, similarly-sized water droplets in an intervening but mostly-transparent cloud. Since light of different colors has different wavelengths, each color diffracts differently. Lunar Coronaeare one of the few quantum mechanicalcolor effects that can be easily seen with the unaided eye. The featured lunar coronawas captured around full Moon aboveTurin, Italy in 2014. Similar coronae that form around the Sun are usually harder to see because of the Sun's great brightness. @anything_about_science

To put that into an astronomical perspective, the average distance from the Earth to the Moon ~ 384,398.25 km (238,854 miles). So, light crosses that distance in about a second. Meanwhile, the average distance from the Sun to the Earth is ~149,597,886 km (92,955,817 miles), which means that light only takes about 8 minutes to make that journey. But, this also implies that if the sun would explode (which it won't) we will "see" it after 8 minutes of it happening. But we wouldn't notice it, we'd be death before we could realise that the sun was gone anyway. This tells us that we always see the sun as it were 8 minutes ago! So the further we look out into space, the further we look back in time. If, for example, someone were to stand on a planet 50 light years away and look towards Earth trough a telescope, that person would see how Earth was in 1969. I know it's hard to understand, but it's true! #light

#enem2019 #fisica #physics #physicsonly #physicslover #sciencelover #astroscience #collision #spacetime #darkuniverse #darkenergy #darkmatter #spacefacts #particephysics #wormhole #blackholes #astrophysics #blackhole #scienceexperiment #sciencelab #sciencefun #physicsfun #ilovescience #technologynews #techlover #techies #techgeek #electricalengineering #destaquedafisica #bebezao

No, this isn't a firework.🎆 ~ You are looking at a flame and the glowing soot clusters it produced aboard the International Space Station. ~ These yellow soot cluters grow larger than those on Earth, cause' they stay inside the flame longer in microgravity. ~ This flame was one of many ignited inside a combustion research facility to investigate the amount of soot that is produced in different conditions. Soot is the carbon residue left behind when organic matter (or other carbon-containing material) doesn't fully burn. ~ It causes environmental and health issues, but can be helpful in multiple ways, including by enhancing radiant heat. ~ This experiment could allow the design of flames that are more sooty or soot-free. These result may help create burner designs which are more efficient and less polluting. ~ @nasa @iss ~ #cosmic #saturn #moon #moons #infrared #universe #universum #bluesky #ring #cosmology #cosmos #spacetime #spacestation #spacex #spacefacts #speedoflight #spaceships #solarsystem #galaxy #planet #planets #physicslove #physics #hurricanedorian #nasa #mars

. . ⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ #deepspace #astrofacts #astronomer #hubbletelescope #nebulas #carlsagan #cosmicperspective #neildegrassetyson #spacefacts #natgeospace #blackholes #astronomylover #spacetime #earthfromspace #astronomyy #astronomyfacts #astronomyclub #astronomylovers #astrophysicist #astrofizik #kozmoz #cosmos #aliens #alien #ufo #life #astronomy #curiosity #space #time
