The only time youโ€™re allowed to get low in your life is during your squats.๐Ÿ‘ - - I actually had a good legs and hamstrings session today. I feel my legs pretty dead and I tried to do heavy weight in my squats today and it was a success. (if you really know me, you know I rarely incorporate squats on my leg days๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ but itโ€™s in my challenge for the month so too bad I have to do them๐Ÿ™ƒ) - - Motivation tip๐Ÿ’—: Donโ€™t give up. You can do this and more. Iโ€™ve been seen that so many girls/guys compare them selfโ€™s to IG people. Remember that IG is full of perfection. Itโ€™s full of poses and angles. I love those angles and poses trust me. But Iโ€™m not perfect at all. Be yourself and love yourself. I finally understood that I will never look like some girl from IG. Halloween's roots can be traced back to Celtic culture in Ireland. According to their "Druid" religion, November 1st was the start of a New Year on their calendar. The celebration would begin on October 31st, and last into the following day. The spirits of all who died in the prior year, would rise up and roam the earth on this night. ๐Ÿ‘ป . This was known to be an evil night when spirits roamed the streets and villages, which is why we dress up to scare them off. Lord Samhain, the lord of Darkness, would arrive in search of the spirits to take them to the underworld. The Druid religion of Celtic tribes worshipped Samhain, and to some, he was also referred to as the "lord of the Dead". โ˜ ๏ธ . Hence, a time to start anew, the Druid New Year began on November 1st, which later the Roman Catholic Church called All Souls Day to honor and pray for the souls of the dead. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ . The Irish carved Turnips and put coals or small candles inside. They were placed outside their homes on All Hallow's Eve to ward off evil spirits. Today, we use pumpkins as Irish immigrants in America found them easier to carve. ๐ŸŽƒ . HOW we practice is just as important as WHAT we practice. Like every posture, squat posture can be incredibly beneficial - it can help to stretch our quadriceps, glutes, lower back, hamstrings and achilles. And, if we sink and sit in to gravity in this pose, we can compress our hips and lower back (not ideal)...โ € โ € When I used to have back pain, this posture would immediately put my low back in to spasm. It was because of HOW I was practicing the posture, not the posture itself. Remember, every posture is healing, depending on how we practice it. โ € โ € In squat, press your heals down in to the floor, and think of using your legs and glutes as if you're going to stand up. Your hamstrings, quadriceps, glutes and pelvic floor muscles will engage. Lift yourself up at least an inch or two higher than your lowest point of flexibility here, so you're RESISTING gravity. One more #zionnationalpark pic + less than 24 hours to sing to my plant babies ๐ŸŒฑ in NYC + arrival in the Poconos tonight for @campowerment retreat prep. The last few days have been a whirlwind ๐ŸŒ€, but being back with my camp crew feels like home โ›บ๏ธ Home has become a state of mind to me, and in that way almost plural or dynamic. Of course, thereโ€™s โ€œhomeโ€ home in MO, which will always be Home with a capital H, but along the way Iโ€™ve acquired many more homes.
