Unless youโ€™re utilizing a mono-lift, youโ€™ll have to walk the bar out before the squat. The last tip for this week is about the walkout- take your time and minimize the fidgeting. Save your energy for the lift itself. โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ € . The walkout should be the same every. single. time. Rehearsal is important - keep practicing your walk out even during warm up sets. โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ € . Our advice for walkouts - 3 steps. Unrack with your feet parallel. Take one step back with your first foot, then step back with the next foot, the third step is used to settle or correct the stance. From there you return to Squat Tip #1 (breathe & brace) before descending. โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ € . Keep the fidgeting to a minimum. Save the energy. Aside from obvious weight loss, I want to take you back to where I was in the left photo. It was my 21 and I absolutely HATED taking full body pictures. I won't be feeling good after today! Itโ€™s time for me to have my TED talk. Flexibility and mobility are not the same thing. Joint stability and strength are also NOT the same thing. Mobility is the body moving within a finite range of motion that the body has. Determined at birth and cultivated over a lifetime. Stability in action are the muscles responsible for movement over a joint or multiple joints. Working in a mutually beneficial tug of war. Now either of these things by themselves mean NOTHING if the load isnโ€™t tolerated by the muscles. Muscle strength is what allows the movement to occur so donโ€™t be confused. How many yogis do you know that can squat over 225 lbs atg. Or, how many powerlifters do you know can hit mountain pose or Pidgeon? Itโ€™s your body and people repeatedly do things to them that hurts them. I donโ€™t understand! Listen folks, I just want to help but goddamn people are stupid. Flexibility, mobility, stability, these are words. They mean nothing if you donโ€™t apply them.
