It's like boofie, boofie, boofie. 😱(when you invent a word and can't stop saying it🤣) ​🍑But seriously the Booty or the peach gets a lot of air time. What girl isn't longing for the perkiest, firmest, JLO est butt going? ​But let's just put aesthetics aside for a bit and look at how super important that peach really is. ​Weak, inactive, switched off Glutes lead to many problems. Back, knee and ankle pain just to name a few. Sitting down for as many hours as the average person today does is leading to more and more back pain and injuries. Tight hip flexors, lazy glutes and bang before you know it you have an injury in the making. ​I can not stress the importance of training your Glutes. Firstly wake them bad boys up with some activation work. Then put glute specific work in your program.  My absolute favourite Glute exercise is the hip thruster 🙌, along with Kettlebell Bulgarian split squats, Kettlebell swings and single leg deadlifts. ​Also for all you high bar squatters out there, chuck in some low bar squats for more Glute firing. ​If you have weak glutes causing you back pain, stop sitting and start moving. ​ #booty ​ ​

Prone (prone = face down) overhead press, with dowel. . A good upper back exercise! This a good one for warm-ups, or it could be included as a filler exercise. . Start with the dowel resting on top of your hands, with your thumbs pointing up. Initiate the movement by pulling the shoulder blades back and down. Lift the dowel straight up, then pull it back down, behind your head, squeezing the shoulder blades together. Allow the shoulder blades to fall up and forwards at the end of every rep. . These are great for the upper back muscles and shoulder external rotators! Note that, a reasonable level of shoulder mobility is required to be able to do them. . These are far tougher than they look! The work capacity! I guess that's why they call @inshape_queen Lil Killa. 7th set deep and still smashing out 72.5kg/160lb deadlifts for 10. We're building for a comeback competition around March next year, so at the moment it's all about building a strong base through volume and working on those weaknesses.

Buffalo Bar Box Squat - Top Single at 450 lbs - Making squats easier on the shoulders with the Buffalo Bar ✅While many people associate bench press with being rough on the shoulders not too many make the same association with squats as they’re particularly tough on them as well. I have come to realize this lately as I have better cues in place in my mind and am lifting weights that are closer to what my body is capable of rather than being limited by the way I was thinking about the movement. My shoulders don’t feel bad but I do get minor irritation in one of the isn’t perfectly positioned which I don’t get when using this bar. The shape of the bar and having a larger diameter than a normal bar makes this thing sit pretty damn comfortably on the back as the weight is dispersed over a larger area on your body. Since the weight is situated slightly lower when compared to the straight bar due to the curvature, it is probably more in between a low bar and high bar squat when this bar is placed in a high position on your body. 🧠Having better internal cues for the squat is making a big difference in its performance. I always would watch people squat that looked super “connected” throughout the whole movement and wonder what they were doing that wasn’t happening during mine since it would go alright until I completely lost all tension in the hips and would basically Goodmorning the squat up. Now I finally get it and am able to stay reasonably connected throughout the movement and move heavier weights! It was an amazing opportunity to be part of the inaugural GWA MAG Team Future Camp, on the 5th – 6th October. I was invited to provide a different aspect to the camp, with 2 trampoline based rotations (standard and pit). On the first rotation (standard) we worked on some trampoline basics, with Horizontal Displacement and Time of Flight as the main focal points. Second rotation (pit) was a skill building focused one. Me and the coaches involved had a bit of fun sharing and exploring our takes on how to teach skills. I tried physical therapy, X-rays, deep tissue massage, spinal adjustments. Everything gave temporary relief, but the hips always slipped back out of alignment and the pain always came back. . Using Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) therapy, Stu has helped me get a handle on my chronic/recurring injury/nerve and tissue pain that has kept me from practicing asana as well as many other daily activities I love (like sitting and walking 😜). . I have recently switched from a mind set of pulling under the bar to pushing under the bar. I have always been a believer in pulling under and have been coaching and performing this for sometime.
