If you have no time to do a long workout in the morning or just don't love to do long workouts or super high impact workouts this is a great video series! Sarah Beth is great at guiding you through the most challenging and most simple poses. Even if you just start with 5 minutes per day you'll feel great! And remember its the journey not destination. Enjoy the ride while gaining strength and flexibility. This is a level 2 practice I recommend starting with level 1 if you've never done yoga or just getting back into it. She has 1000 different classes available on YouTube just search Sarah Beth. Don't get me wrong I LOVE in-person classes but if you can't make it or can't spend the money this is a great option. The posterior chain [muscles on the posterior side of your body that run up from your foot, all the way to the back of your neck,] is the foundation & “powerhouse” of your body. Why? Because it holds all the largest and most powerful muscles back there.💪🏼 They are designed to get you up, keep you upright & propel you forward all day. In today’s society, we sit at a desk most of the day, we have sedentary lifestyles, and we don’t exercise consistently either. This causes an array of health issues and chronic pain.💢 Are you one of the many that has that pesky low back pain, that either is constant, or keeps coming back to bother you? 😖 More often than not, it’s from weak & under active muscles in your posterior chain. 💭 If you think about it, we as humans see in front of us, and move in front of us. We sleep in the fetal position, we hug people, we hunch over when we sit, stand, relax in any position, we carry things in front of us, we cook, clean, work all in front of us! That leaves the muscles on our back side getting weak, under active, and sometimes over extended, all leaving them unable to function properly, throwing us off-kilter. Does that mean you should immediately stop all those things? Obviously we all still need a hug.. but this should be well-balanced. There is proper form to do certain movements as you function in your front-facing life, and there are exercises to do in order to balance out that back side!🍑 A few exercises to start implementing: * deadlifts, any variation * good mornings * glute bridges * any type of row, bent-over dumbbell, TRX, seated cable machine, renegade, etc. * lat pull downs, or pull ups Have any questions on the posterior chain, what can strengthen it, what you can do? Ah the Dart! I just can’t get enough of this gorgeous exercise at the moment. I fall in and out of love with the Cobra but a Dart never fails to disappoint... opening up the front of the body, creating length through the spine and making you feel that little bit better when you’ve been sitting in front of the laptop all afternoon ♥️. This is also a lovely exercise in early pregnancy and postnatally to improve your posture 🙌. . Some tips on how to do this exercise: . Start position: Lie on your front in a straight line. Rest your forehead on a folded towel. Arms are lengthened by the sides of the body, palms up to the ceiling. Legs are turned in slightly at the hip joint so the big toes can touch. You can have a flat cushion under the abdomen to support your lower back if needed. . Breathe in wide to your ribcage, then exhale to first lift and lengthen the head, neck, chest and upper spine away from the mat, simultaneously drawing the legs together and lengthening the arms turning the palms in to the side of the body. . Hold for a breath in, feeling length through the spine with the crown of the head reaching away from your toes. . Breathe out to return the spine to the mat one rib at a time, bringing the neck then the forehead down last. . ⭐️TIPS⭐️ . 1️⃣ Make sure you have a connection to your deep abdominal muscles throughout the exercise to protect your lower back. See my earlier post about this if you are unsure.  2️⃣ Think about length through the body rather than height, to avoid compressing the spine.  3️⃣ As you return to the mat, come back with length and control (as tempting as it is, don’t just collapse back onto your front!) at Godalming

A great exercise to improve neck strength & posture as well as decrease neck pain! 💂‍♂️ The deep neck flexors often become elongated, weak and inactive, especially in those with forward head posture. . This group of muscles are the deepest muscles in the front of the neck and important for stabilizing the cervical spine. 🔙 As the head shifts forward with poor posture, these muscles become inactive and weak, the head tends to tilt into slight extension, allowing the opposing muscle groups to become short, tight and contracted. 😫 We often see patients who come in with this problem, so this is an obvious exercise to start with. For you, there may be no better time to start than now! 🔜 To perform this exercise: 1️⃣ Lay on your bed, face up and slide to where your shoulders are up to the edge of your bed. 2️⃣ Holding your head up, not letting it hang down, flex your neck forward, tucking your chin to chest. 3️⃣ Avoid lifting your head any higher than parallel with the floor. 4️⃣ Repeat, 3 sets of 15 repetitions each night before bed. at Neck Pain

Hey everyone!!!🤩💪🏽 Tonight we have @ac2.fitness performing the dumbbell shrug exercise‼️💢 The main focus of doing a shrug is your shoulders, the trapezius muscle to be precise. The trapezius muscles, or traps, is a triangular muscle located on your upper back which connects the shoulder blades, back of the neck, and down to the spine. When you are doing the shrug exercise, your shoulder blades does a rotating motion. That motion is accomplished with the help of the traps. The upper, mid, and lower portions of the traps all do their part during this exercise. The middle part of the trapezius retracts the shoulder blades while the lower trapezius assists the arms. Other than the trapezius, there are also other muscles that get a good workout during this exercise. The levator scapulae will also be doing its part during shrugs. The levator scapulae muscles act as support by stabilizing your body when doing a shrug exercise. Shrugs can deliver amazing results in building lean muscle mass on your upper back and shoulders. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this exercise to anyone who wants to build MONSTER traps, and huge shoulders😤💪🏽 I hope everyone studied hard this week!!!
