🔥 HOW TO LOSE BODY FAT 🔥 - Follow 👉 @adviceonfitness Post by 👉 @maxweberfit - 💃🏻 No matter who you are, or what you look like, chances are that you want to drop at least a few pounds of stubborn body fat, and likely maybe more! If that’s the truth for you, then you’ve stumbled upon the right post! Because we’re talking about how to lose body fat, with tried and true principles that you can get started with this week! Let’s dive in… - ⚖️ Step 1: CALORIE DEFICIT! In order to lose body fat, you need to consume fewer calories than your body burns each day. There are dozens of ways to calculate the number of calories your body requires to lose body fat, but a really simple way to estimate it is to multiply your current bodyweight (in pounds) by 10. Eat that many calories, lose weight (generally speaking). For a more accurate estimation, hit me with a comment or DM and we’ll chat. - 🍗 Step 2: PROTEIN! Protein is a macronutrient (as are carbs and fats) and it’s really important for fat loss, as well as muscle gain. Here’s why: protein is muscle sparing, meaning it retains lean muscle in a deficit. This means you’ll burn more calories at rest, you’ll look and feel better, and you’ll be “toned” once your body fat is lowered. Plus, protein keeps you full. Win-win-win. - 🏋🏻‍♀️ Step 3: STRENGTH TRAINING! Lifting weights won’t make you bulky or any BS like that. It’ll help you shed body fat and look sexy as hecckkkk!!! Do it 3-4x per week minimum in a deficit, and you’ll be golden. - 🏃🏻‍♀️ Step 4: CARDIO! If you love it, do it! And if you hate it, don’t. Simple as that. At it’s core, cardio for fat loss = additional calories burned (and nothing more). You don’t need it, but it can support fat loss. - 🥒 Step 5: MICROS! Eat veggies and fruits and do it often! They rock, keep you full, are healthy, yummy and amazing! - 💤 Step 6: Sleep well, and drink often. And I don’t mean alcohol! I mean good ole water! Lots of it. 64 ounces minimum per day, ideally more. Got it??

In the past few weeks, I’ve recovered from the Coronavirus, and I’ve watched my wife have to get a number of tests as she deals with the effects of the virus herself. I’ve been feeling pain in my chest, and I thought I might have the same thing. When I described the pain to my doctor, he told me it was stress. My body was telling me that I had to slow down, I was still going 100MPH, even as I was recovering from this serious illness. I had been ignoring the pain and pushing it away, instead of listening to the pain. There’s two lessons here: 1: No matter how much you work to get to the next level, you can fall into your old patterns. It happens to me all the time. I never claim to be perfect. 2: You have to acknowledge the pain. When I took the time to meditate, breath, get a good night’s sleep, and acknowledge how hard I was pushing my body, my pain started to go away. Life is always giving you feedback. Do you ever find yourself, quick to judge, criticize, or feel agitation towards someone for even the most petty of things!?⠀ ⠀ •⠀ ⠀ Guess what, we all do! It’s human nature. Do you feel like a control freak in your house sometimes? Everything has to be done a certain way? Clothing has to be hung and folded a certain way, washed a certain way. Dishes need to be washed and put away a certain way. Yeah I use to be that way...one day I woke up and way like why does it matter? Is it that important to make the people I care about feel like they can’t do anything right over a folded towel? Nope it’s not. So now the dishes gets put in the dishwasher anywhere they fit. They get put away where they fit and the same does for everything else around the house. Life is to short for that. Call it out of control if you wish or chaos but for me worrying about every single item in the house and how I think it should be done only caused more chaos in my marriage. Today’s #tiptuesday is all about STRESS.⠀ In the world of COVID we are all feeling it and most of us are happy to admit to it now. But truth is we’ve all been chronically stressed for some time with all the rushing around and juggling a million things...no wonder burnout and chronic disease are on the rise. We are always pumped full of cortisol and constantly consuming caffeine to stay afloat. So what do I do to decompress:⠀ .⠀ 1. ORGANIZE THEN GO WITH THE FLOW:⠀ Having an idea of how and when you’re going to spend your time allows you to know how things will get done and feel productive without adding stress. Taking a few minutes at the beginning of the week to plan will save you so much time and stress. Do your best and go with the flow. Inevitably, there is traffic or an appointment goes longer than you expected. Know that this will happen and it’s okay.⠀ .⠀ 2. THREE REALISTIC GOALS:⠀ The key here is realistic! I always put too many things on my to-do list then get agitated and upset when I never accomplish the million items on the list. I think having 3 goals each day is a great idea because it allows you to really focus on those item and know that you still have a running list that you are slowly chipping away at. Also when picking your three goals of the day consider how long it will take you to accomplish the goal. You want to be able to check them off at the end of the day so if you work an 8 hour work day don’t pick three 2-hr goals on top of it!⠀ .⠀ 3. SMALL VICTORIES TO BOOST YOUR HAPPINESS:⠀ Accomplishing small victories throughout the day keep you positive and happy which naturally combats stress. This could including drinking your water instead of soda, getting a little movement in or a phone call to connect with a friend instead of scrolling mindlessly (unless your reading your spending your time reading #tiptuesday of course 😉).⠀ .⠀ Let me know what you do to decompress and any other helpful tips your using to bring down your stress levels! While it can be overwhelming to answer a constant barrage of questions, a text or DM can go a long way to let someone know you care. This allows the person some space to respond when they are able or feel comfortable but doesn't put them on the spot for lengthy conversation. If you know your friend is struggling, take a cue from @tactical_conversations and "just ask" what they need from you at the moment. THE 4 E’S AFFECTING WEIGHT LOSS/WEIGHT GAIN 🤓⁣ ⁣ 🤯 Did you know that your body weight is affected by MORE than just diet & exercise?! ⁣ ⁣ 🤔🤔 Maybe you’re of the mindset that if you work out really hard (aka burn a ton of calories) AND keep to a low calorie diet (1000-1200 cals/day), you’ll be able to lose weight faster? Maybe you’ve been doing this for a LONG TIME & the scale goes up and down, or simply doesn’t budge? Maybe you’re frustrated & it’s not making sense to you?⁣ ⁣ ‼️ THE PROBLEM with this approach is that while you’re working out like a maniac & prolonging a caloric deficit, you’re also taxing your hormones & creating immense stress on your body (and likely your relationships). It’s hard to make ANY progress in that state. ⁣ ⁣ Ironically, “controlling” your body is the furthest thing you need to do when it comes to creating progress. Your body already knows how to do it’s jobs, so UNDERSTANDING the choices you can make to support your goals, AND support your HEALTH is key! 🔑 ⁣ ⁣ Let me break it down:⁣ ⁣ 🏡 Environment: Where you live & who you surround yourself with greatly influence your habits & stress levels. Stress impacts our immune system & metabolism, which influences weight gain/loss. ⁣ ⁣ 🧠 Emotional State: No matter how you slice it, mindset matters! Whether it’s emotional trauma, negative thoughts, or limiting beliefs, ALL of these things affect behavior & our behavioral patterns ultimately affect results. ⁣ ⁣ 🍴 Eating Habits: Generally speaking, eating in a surplus over time may result in health complications & fat gain, and eating in a deficit over time can result in fat loss, but we can’t dismiss that eating habits are heavily influenced by the previous two categories. ⁣ ⁣ 🚶🏼‍♀️ Exercise: Often the LEAST important area when it comes to weight management. Has stress affected your ability to achieve or maintain your health goals?😅⁠ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠ It's important to know that stress highly affects our health, particularly our weight, via the hormone cortisol.⁠ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠ Cortisol rises whenever we experience stress, which in turn increases our appetite in two ways: through the fight-or-flight response (during which the body feels a need to overeat), and through an increase in insulin, which causes us to crave sugary or fatty foods.⁠ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠ This is why managing stress is essential if you are looking to better your health!⁠ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠ Here are some of my favorite ways to prevent and manage stress:⁠ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠ 🧘🏻‍♀️Meditation - ten minutes a day is all you need to switch from the fight-or-flight state to rest-and-digest. Don’t know where to start? Try an app like @calm, @insighttimer or @headspace.⁠ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠ 🗣Deep Breaths - similar to meditation, deep breathing naturally helps to relax the body. When you are feeling stressed, take a few deeps breaths in… and then out, ahhh.⁠ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠ 🚶🏻‍♀️Long Walks - brisk walking helps reduce stress through the creation of endorphins. I've been taking daily walks with my girls, and it's helped me clear my head and manage stress during quarantine!⁠ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠ A few more things I highly recommend are getting adequate sleep, leaning on your friends and community, and using essential oils such as lavender oil. I'm obsessed with the essential oils from @doterra. These are all things that affect your body's chemistry in a positive way, reducing or even reversing the harmful effects of the stress hormone, cortisol.⁠ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠ Let me know which tips you've tried and has success with!
