I was once told if took all my problems put them in the bag and hung them in a tree next to everyone else’s problems in their bags in the tree and then told I could pick any bag I wanted - that every time I would pick my own. It’s because you know what in that bag. And knowing is half the battle. Not to mention when I think about it, really think about it. I don’t have it all that bad no matter how much I struggle. FINALLY! . . Finally I'm starting to feel like myself again,that flare up lasted 6 days. The first 2 days I couldn't function, the last 4 days I've spent trying to get back to life! . . Part of dealing with fibro is the anxiety attacks you have during a flare up, let me tell you they are exhausting and difficult to get through it. . . This flare up was different, I felt different, it took days to recover. I've had a lot of time to think about where I go from here, and what I want. . . I'm feeling better but I know I'm not out of the woods yet. I did plenty of research and made a solid plan on how I want to heal my mind and my body from all this stress. . . Lunch 😋 A delicious butternut squash soup inspired by @lovefoodibiza ❤️ I roasted the squash with chestnuts while that was in the oven I gently cooked cumin seeds in olive oil then added onion, garlic, turmeric and black pepper and cooked until soft. I the onion mix was then blended with roasted squash, 4 cups of water and a stock cube plus salt. It’s topped with coconut milk and chestnut garlic mushrooms with parsley and wild garlic greens, toasted pumpkin and sunflower seeds and chilli salt. Served with sourdough and butter - yum!! I got all the veggies from @riverford which I am loving as have various bits I wouldn’t have chosen. Plus I have less plastic and it’s all organic. @nbcovencleaning I didn’t forage for my wild garlic, it was in my Riverford box so it saved me a trip out xx at Sevenoaks, Kent

There is so much judgement around health. Especially in the workplace. Often people tell me they feel ashamed and vulnerable around their health or they feel they are failing when they have health issues and have to hide it at work. A lot of people also feel betrayed by their bodies when they struggle with their health. Some feel proud when they take charge of their health, some don’t want others to know they are getting support to do so. Why is health such a difficult topic for us and why do we feel ashamed? Why do we think of health as boring and restricting to our lifestyle rather than how we can live a life, where we feel better and get to do what we want to do with our life? And I’m not saying that healthy is the only way we feel good, however I have never met anyone who doesn’t feel better when they are taking care of (making choices that support) their health. However, health is not the problem. Health is a symptom of imbalances in our lifestyle and food choices, not the problem itself. Health is a sign of what we need to pay attention to. #GoodMorning ♥️ Saturday is in the housssseee! I am packing and preparing for another trip. This time overseas - San Francisco get yourself ready! I am coming next week! I hope your weekend is running slowly and you have a chance to #recharge and #relax As you might know (from my stories), my daughter had a piano exam last Thursday and she was really really stressed. She was imagining the worst possible outcome for her. And she was repeating to herself this unhelpful words... 'I am so scared! I am so scared!'. The fear levels were increasing to sky high levels. I tried to support her (knowledge acquired in #stressmanagement area helps me a lot). As you can imagine, teenagers are very dismissive of any feedback or suggestions 🙄 After next 'I'm so scared!' I asked her 'Do you think that the examiner could eat you if you don't play good enough?'. She burst into laughing. Often the best remedy in stressful situation is humour. Don’t be afraid to laugh even in more difficult situations. That helps bring things into perspective. I can only tell you that she did well and I am very proud or her and her hard work. The psychological benefits of journaling are well-documented. ⠀ ⠀ Journaling allows people to clarify their thoughts and feelings, helping them gain valuable self-awareness. It's also a good problem-solving tool where one can hash out a problem and come up with solutions on paper.⠀ ⠀ It’s such a wonderful practice because it’s so easy to do anytime, anywhere. You simply write down your thoughts and feelings in that moment. Some people swear by the method of writing for at least three pages because after the first one or two pages you’ve written about what’s top of mind and then you tend to go deeper into your issues after that.⠀ ⠀ But, really, any self expression will help clear your mind. 🙏⠀ ⠀

I long for the day that I can get my inbox to 0. Like, seriously. I may get there for a brief moment, and then poof! It was like it was all a dream.⠀ ✨⠀ But one thing is for sure, my anxiety would never let my inbox get to extreme numbers. I literally would not be able to go to bed at night. ⠀ ✨⠀ My ability to be as responsive as possible to people, and keep as organized as I can, is the key to both my success and my sanity. ⠀ ✨⠀ If you struggle with inbox overload, try implementing a few productivity strategies to help get you through. Maybe start by taking 15 minutes and going through all of those promotional emails you get from the places you shop, and create a filter system so that they end up in a separate folder that you can browse through when you have time. Initially this morning I felt as though I would be letting my team down by calling in sick, the lovely @_viviaanns2 my friend and colleague reminded me of something very important. If a member of my team felt how I feel what would I say? Of course it would be to rest up. Thanks Vivi for reminding me of my own principles. Friends, if you find yourself setting the bar a little too high in life and constantly comparing your actions to that high standard then remember this tip: whatever you’ve just said to yourself, imagine hearing that same critical statement from a friend referring to themselves, what would you say to them? Burn-out 101 💥 Ik wist niet wat mij overkwam toen ik burn-out raakte. Van het één op het andere moment kon ik gewoon helemaal niets meer. Eigenlijk een hele enge ervaring, vooral omdat ik het écht niet zag aankomen. Ik merkte dat ik nergens de informatie kon vinden waar ik naar op zoek was. Ik wilde niet de verhalen van artsen lezen, maar de verhalen van lotgenoten die weten hoe je je voelt. Dit is ook één van de redenen waarom mijn website binnenkort live gaat. Wanneer je burn-out bent kan het soms voelen alsof het nooit meer goed voelt én het is ook een lange weg. Maar het komt goed, echt! Nu achteraf ben ik mijn burn-out super dankbaar, omdat ik nu zo anders naar mijn leven kijk en van hele andere dingen geniet. Als ik merk dat ik me even niet zo goed voel, angstig ben of veel in mijn hoofd zit. Dan onthoud ik: niets is voor altijd! 💫 Deze gevoelens verdwijnen uiteindelijk vanzelf wel weer. En ze verdwijnen nog sneller als je ze gewoon accepteert, ze mogen er zijn. To cry is not a sign of weakness, and/or vulnerability. To cry is to acknowledge an intimate contact with yourself - an awareness of thoughts and emotions. It’s not something to feel small or submissive about, nobody else has the power over you if you cry. It’s just about you and there’s no need to hold back for anyone else in your surroundings. Your spectrum of emotions, your thoughts, and your awareness. IT IS NOT WEAKNESS. It’s not just mentally but also physically healthy as with our tears, the body releases toxins and stressors out of our body. It’s relaxing, however if you experience it everyday, coupled with feelings of sadness or being stressed, then you should talk to somebody about it.
