Just do you. . . Story time for you kids. When I joined my last work, I was told by one of the trainers that in order to ’do well’ at that job, I should stop running. His justification for passing a ridiculous comment to someone he had known for the whole of a week? ‘Because you’re never going to win a marathon, so why waste your time’. . . 👀 . . Well, had I listened to that individual, I wouldn’t have achieved as much as I have in the last 18 months. Coming up to my fourth marathon, numerous halves and 10km’s etc. But most of all, the confidence and happiness it genuinely brings. . . So the lesson here? Don’t let others sh*t on your parade. You want to run? Run! You want to do CrossFit? Great. You want to start yoga? Amazing. JUST DO YOU. Make your own day by doing things just for YOU. Never feel like you have to justify yourself, or change yourself or the things you enjoy just to fit in with others. If they criticise or try to put you down... well, that’s probably more to do with their damaged self esteem 🙃 . . Want help finding your groove? Still taking things easy here, so I finally had a chance to reflect on what helped me self-coach myself to a better marathon time. . . Totally realise this will be not interesting to many, but maybe give some hope or ideas to a few late starters like myself, so thought I would share what worked for me... . . 1. Less running 🏃‍♀️⏩🚲🏊‍♀️ Well, quality over quantity. Having sustained two injuries in the past six months I cut my mileage significantly and replaced almost all ‘easy runs’ with cross training in order to focus on three (ish) quality runs per week (one long, one tempo, one speedwork). I believe that saved my legs from further injury, but also made my whole body stronger. 2. 🧘‍♀️Yoga 🧘‍♀️ . A good friend recommended the most wonderful yoga studio here, and I have fallen head over heels in love with the practice and philosophy all over again. I went to 20 classes in the four weeks before the marathon and all that mental and physical flexing helped me enormously 🙏 3. Nutrition 🦖⏩ 🐿 I am really not a fan of restrictive dieting, and don't follow any kind of nutritional plan through training. I usually eat *quite* a lot (*around 3000 calories per day) - but I am very active too and feel my body is quite good at telling me what I need, so I try not to waste time overthinking it and eat as intuitively as possible. That is until the the final three weeks when, as the mileage dropped, I did try to cut down on 'empty calories', and replaced them with more protein, fruit and veg. I also cut out alcohol, caffeine and chocolate altogether (apart from chocolate milk, which is like my crack). (Yes, I know I'd be a much better runner if I did these things all of the time but I'd be a right grumpy old cow too!) . . I basically plan to do all of this again. And again. Maybe get a little faster. Maybe run some more marathons in cool places. And DEFINITELY be a strong old lady runner! My ultimate goal is to still be chasing my grandkids around the block in 20 or 30 years to come! . : What is your ultimate goal?

While hot soaks can help ease strained, injured and overexerted muscles, ice baths are an extremely effected tool for limiting inflammation and next-day soreness. Yes please 😍 and this one has a sneaky little secret... it’s a nutrient packed power house that doesn’t dent the calorie budget. 💪🏼 ⠀⠀ •⅓ frozen banana • 1 serving vanilla whey • 2-3 cubes steamed and frozen pumpkin •2-3 florets steamed and frozen cauliflower • 3-4 ice cubes • 60ml milk of choice • Cinnamon • Vanilla Essence ⠀⠀ Literally just chuck everything in a blender (I use a nutribullet) and let it work through everything. I love waking up to Snapchat showing me pictures of myself 3 years ago today! Throwing back to the times that @alwright9o parents bathroom was my ultimate selfie spot & not the gym.. I never ever used to have pictures taken full length of me unless I’d taken them in a mirror at this weird sort of diagonal ‘I will be slimmer’ angle! 3 years ago I genuinely don’t know how much I weighed because I attempted to ‘diet’ a couple of times before & just put the weight back on! Let’s just say I was above 15 stone, I was a lot bigger than this angle shows, unhappy with the way I looked but absolutely desperate to rock the bumblebee yellow & black combo (as I seem to have multiple pictures from this day in this mirror but none of them ever made it out of the Snapchat memories)! Fast forward to this weekend! I’m buzzing all over the place, even with a picture someone else took of me.. Genuine happy smile & I don’t hate what I see, HAPPY LITTLE BEE!🐝😂

As you can see, I did my heaviest weight so you have to find yours, OK… Lately you start there with the heavy weight you might do 3 reps. Right away decreasing little by little and do 3 reps… the lighter you will feel like the heaviest… I guarantee you… Don’t forget breath and keep your back straight OK. Guten Morgen ☀️ . Gestern musste ich zum Crossfit gehen, denn das Monstermädchen ist diese Woche nicht nett zu mir. Ich habe festgestellt, je mehr die Mama sich bewegt, desto ruhiger ist sie, bedeutet ich werde auch zu Hause meine Sport Ecke aktivieren. . Meine Hassliebe Burpees waren gestern meine größte Herausforderung und irgendwann ging nichts mehr, dafür hat meine Teampartnerin mir den Rest abgenommen, auch wenn sie synchron waren, wenn es nicht mehr geht, dann geht es nicht mehr. . Ab sofort werde ich wieder Magnesium zu mir nehmen, denn die Beine neigen sehr zu krampfen, wer hatte das auch schon während der Schwangerschaft 🤰🏼? Ebenfalls muss ich an meine Füße ran, die Faszien verkleben wieder und das ist echt schmerzhaft (hatte ich schon, brauche ich nicht nochmal). . Gestern stand folgendes auf dem Programm: . 45 AMRAP 400 mtr 🏃🏼‍♀️ ✅ 20 Synch Gobelet Squads ✅ 40 Cal Bike/Ski/Row ✅ 20 Synch Burpees ✅ fast 40 Box Jumps Over ✅ 20 Synch FR Lunges ✅ 40 Wall Balls ✅ . Ich liebes es, wenn es Beinlastig ist, hier habe ich die Kraft vom laufen, dafür Jammer ich immer wenn es an die Arme geht, wobei hier Übung den Meister macht. . So ich rolle noch etwas beim fertig machen und dann geht es ab ins Büro. . Posting this in replacement to my tantrum post.. Pizza yum! I would have probably deleted the other post sooner but seen as my body needed to sleep for a full 12 hours straight (I can’t even remember falling asleep) this wasn’t possible! I’m still tired & my whole body aches, I’d blame it on the gym but I’ve only really done back & legs this week seen as I’m focusing a lot more on my legs! I hope I’m not getting poorly just before the weekend & looks like an earlier than early night is on the cards tonight too..🥺😩

It's been ages since I attempted a dead lift or any compound lift actually. I've had some pain in my hip that I've been working on. I've gone right back to basics trying to restart. I'm trying REAALLLYYY HARD to perfect my DL and stop over extending at the top. Old habits die hard! Have to get into a new habbit of "fucking the bar " as Tim puts it 😹 I see small improvements here. CALLING OUT THE DIET CULTURE BS ✨⁠ ⠀⁠ ⠀⁠ I get so frustrated by the success of products and companies that completely prey on women's insecurities. Diet and weightloss is a $70bn industry which continues to grow.⁠ ⠀⁠ ⠀⁠ Doing a 14 day 'teatox' is not going to help you with your body image⁠ Having a 7 day 'shot drink' won't help you with your body image⁠ Eating appetite suppressing lollipops won't help you with your body image⁠ ⠀⁠ ⠀⁠ And they certainly won't help you lose weight either⁠ ⠀⁠ ⠀⁠ IF you truly want to lose weight you do NOT need to buy into the false promise of these products - they will leave you feeling disappointed and defeated, keeping you in the diet rat race⁠ ⠀⁠ ⠀⁠ Sustainable weightloss can often be achieved by making healthy lifestyle adjustments (food, exercise, sleep, managing stress, water intake), but I challenge you to look at WHY you want to lose weight in the first place?⁠ Repost: @charlotttequeen
