At @360ncollective we believe that Chris is a passionate photographer that is excited to promote sense of place by inviting the expectator to feel and be part of the landscape, see more of @chrisalfthan work in his IG page. Check Chris's post: This photo of a forest fire in Hanko got selected for the Trace photo exhibition hosted by Haltia nature centre located in Nuuksio national park which is one of my absolute favourite places in Finland. This is their first exhibition ever and it focuses on the human impact in nature which is something I feel very strongly about as I try to avoid including human elements in my nature photography so this was a good challenge for me to try something new. I am incredibly proud to present my photo at the exhibition, thank you Jenny for encouraging me to send it in! Here is the official text that will accompany my photo: “Waking up in my tent to the smell of smoke was not the best way to start a day in the forest. I packed my gear as yellow-grey smoke billowed up from the tree line and quickly headed back to my nearby family cabin as a precaution. For the next two days my family watched as helicopters flew above the never ending smoke. The news reported the fire's origins to be man made, most likely from hot ammunition discarded by the army recruits in Syndalen. The fire destroyed around 100 hectares of forest and evaporated Tvärminneträsket, a nearby bog. A week later me and my brother felt we needed to see how much damage had been done and hiked out to the area where I was able to fly my drone and take these aerial photos of the destruction.” The exhibition opens 2.3.19 and runs till the 12.5.19 at which point it will go on tour.
