I spent Friday beating myself up and full of self loathing after finding out I need major reconstructive surgery on my hand & wrist. Asking myself; HOW I could be so weak and not just suck up the pain?!!? HOW can I be so weak that I need such major surgery that will sideline me AGAIN !!!!???!!!! WHEN will all of this end ?????!!! After 12 long years and 14 surgeries and nine pins & screws holding both of my arms together!!?!!. . . . @scandela_fitness reminded me that I am ONLY human I am NOT super human. CHRONIC PAIN SUCKS!! Oven Roasted Beets & Carrots. An easy veggie meal prep idea and so yummy. Ingredients: 3 pounds of beets, peeled & chopped 2 pounds of carrots, peeled & chopped 1 teaspoon each salt & pepper A few tablespoons your preferred oil 3 tablespoons fresh chopped rosemary (optional) Directions: Preheat oven to 400F Place chopped beets & carrots in a bowl and drizzle with coconut oil and mix to coat evenly Add seasonings and mix to coat evenly Pour onto a large baking pan lined with parchment paper Bake until tender about 30-40 minutes Thanks to @wholefoodshamptonroads for these beautiful ingredientsโค #ahimsadiet at Whole Foods Market

I ain't dead yet (but as you can see I real life almost died and this weight is only medium RIP) . Guess I'll just hang with the bench and squat PRs this week. Ya win some ya lose some (I blame it on not eating @_cosmospizza this week). This was supposed to be 265 by 3 but, as you can see, it was not . Fun fact about me: I have had peripheral neuropathy for like, ever (since I was 14) and the cause has never been determined. This basically means I get numbness, muscular imbalance, and partial paralysis down my left side. It comes and goes and today was a day that it made it's presence known. . I was recently tested for B12 deficiency as the cause because woot woot vegetarianism. In the past I've been tested for brain tumors, MS, spinal tumors, multiple forms of cancer, herniated discs, autoimmune diseases, diabetes, and other things. Fortunately I have been negative for everything so far which is such an incredible blessing. Unfortunately, the cause of my neuropathy isn't yet determined. It's probably due to my scoliosis (I have 3 curvatures over 22 degrees each) and the fact that I fractured my L5 endplate a few years ago, but there aren't any significant features on my x-rays that suggest this should be the ongoing cause. At least we've ruled out everything severe! . So basically, don't let your body get you down. It's gonna do it's thing and that's aight. We just can't use those things as excuses for our every day behavior or performance because if we push through, in the end we'll come out just a teeny bit stronger. . "Choose to be optimistic, it feels better." ~Dalai Lama I still cannot do full squats with a barbell because I have a broken arm and cannot grip the barbell yet. But, instead of focusing on what I can't do, I am focusing on what I can do and finding a way to keep going. This weight may only be a fraction of what I can squat, at least I CAN still squat. Sometimes shaking up your routine is a good thing even if it wasn't planned. I have learned so much in these past three months about overcoming obstacles, embracing change and appreciating everything I have and everything I can actually do. Always focusing on the positive and losing our ego is truly the most peaceful way to live. A huge thank you to the LOVE of my life @ray_pickell for taking care of me, loving me beyond my wildest dreams, helping me workout, always loading my plates on my leg press machine, going to Spin class with me and filming this clip. Butternut Squash Soup So easy, yumny and lots of leftovers. I added Macros at end if recipe. Ingredients 3-4 whole butternut squash 4 large leeks chopped (truly makes this recipe awesome) 4 cloves of garlic finely chopped 3 tablespoons maple syrup 2 cups veggie broth (more if you want soup thinner) 1 can coconut milk 1 can pumpkin puree 1/2 teaspoon sea salt 1 teaspoons black pepper 1 tablespoons turmeric powder (optional) Pomegranate arils for garnishing.( optional) Directions: Preheat oven to 450F. Cut squash in half and remove all seeds. Place squash cut side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake squash until tender, about 45-60 minutes. Allow to cool to touch. Place chopped leeks, garlic, salt & pepper into a large pot over medium heat, add a little oil and cook until softened. Place leeks/garlic in blender and blend until smooth. Remove outer shell from vooked squash. Add cooked squash to leeks in blender and blend until smooth. (You may have to do this in batches.) Pour back into large pot and add remaining ingredients, simmer on low heat for about one hour to allow flavors to blend. OR place in slow cooker on low for a few hours. Macronutrients per 1 cup: 19g Carbs 5g Fat 2g Protein

Today's top sets at 175x5 and 185x3. Almost didn't post these because I wasn't feeling pretty today (probably because I wasn't wearing @feedmefightme), then I remembered that I didn't pick powerlifting because I wanted to be pretty so here we are. . I'm pretty stoked for this prep because even though I don't have specific programming it's been PR central this week, including these squats and 125x2.5 on bench Tuesday (my spotter stepped in too soon so I'm counting a half). Squats are def my weak lift because I have trouble with low bar due to severe scoliosis and ongoing back injuries ๐Ÿ™„ but I'm ready to spend some serious time on them this round and CRUSH IT in November! .
