Day 5 :) . There are several conflicts. There's the typical hero vs villain but the hero (Eloise) is also dealing with conflicting feelings about who they are and who they want to be. And as Eloise goes through the story, she starts feeling conflicted about who the listen to andd who to trust. . Day four of #mywipdecember2019⁣ ⁣ • • • ⁣ ⁣ I have two main themes. The first theme is personal evolution. With this theme I want to capture how people change throughout time and how those changes effect themselves and others. I want to capture how this may affect a person mentally as well, and how our mind expands as we age. The reason why there’s mythical creatures in my story is not only for fun, but for it to manifest in a more literal way throughout the novel. (I could go ON about this theme.) The second theme is about dreams and purpose. Since many of the characters are teenagers, and my target audience is basically teenagers, my novel touches on the difficulties of finding your purpose. I was researching medieval musical instruments one day when it hit me that I was limiting myself to nothing but European instruments. So I decided to search for some traditional instruments of other cultures as well. That, long story short, is how I discovered the two of the coolest instruments I've ever heard: the pipa and the erhu. Guys, seriously. Look them up. I assure you you've heard nothing like the erhu before. . Anyway, I drew some of my favorite European and Asian stringed instruments from my research, and here they are. #PublishingRoad 379... WELL WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT?! A few weeks ago I submitted my first ever screenplay to a club that I’m apart of and I WON!!!! Which means IT LIVES IN THE DARK is being turned into a short film!!! Now for those of you who don’t know, IT LIVES IN THE DARK was my first ever short story that I wrote and self-published here at Pitt. In fact, it was my first ever horror story I’ve ever written, and also, this was the first time I wrote and published something in first person POV. A lot of “first’s” with this work now that I think about it😂 • Anyways! I’m now the director of this short film which means I’ll have my very own cast and crew AND we start pre production early next semester. Now, with most book to movie adaptations, the book is always better and the film is nothing like the book😬 For me, that’s sort of true because I was restricted to fifteen pages for the contest. HOWEVER! I know the short film will be just as good as the written work, and the main premise is still the same. Its still about a group of college students getting stuck in an academic building and when the lights start going out, they begin to understand why we’re so afraid of the dark. • I’m looking forward to this very much, especially sharing it with you all!
