Some think love can be measured by the amount of butterflies in their tummy. Others think love can be measured in bunches of flowers, or by using the words โ€˜for ever.โ€™ But love can only truly be measured by actions. It can be a small thing, such as peeling an orange for a person you love because you know they donโ€™t like doing it. - Marian Keyes Illustration by Loreta Isac #counsellor #counselling #glasgowcounselling #lanarkshire #traumainformed #traumarecovery #selfcare #selfworth #complexhuman #angermanagement #relationships #selflove #emotionallife #human #glasgowlife #scotland #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #quoteoftheday #self #glasgow #love #thebodykeepsthescore #scotland #scottish #ilovegla #nextstopglasgow #mentalhealthscotland #artist #arttherapy #art

Do you have questions about Fascia? โ˜๏ธ๐Ÿ˜

Very well stated @fereraswan...complex layers for sure...๐Ÿ˜ ใƒปใƒปใƒป To believe that one โ€œdoes not knowโ€ their first/biological family; therefore, rendering them insignificant is an uneducated, irresponsible assumption. It may feel easy for those who grew up within their families of origin to view these issues in simplistic ways, but our kind of loss and trauma reaches far beyond what others may define/understand as โ€œfamilyโ€ and into multiple, complex layers of our very own existence. . . #adoptee #adoption #familyseparation #trauma #infanttrauma #grief #thebodykeepsthescore #mentalhealth #advocacy #reform #adopteerights #humanrights #speakyourtruth #justlisten #vulnerability #empowerment #courage #socialmovement #everystorymattters #evolve #empathy #compassion #heartthoughtsbyfalishar

Favorite trauma book -The Body Keeps Score. Updated information on how our body and mind store trauma and all the impact. Have you read it? And what was your favorite chapter?

I am in the frozen section at Costco and just wondered why I was having a surge of emotion and then did a mental check and remembered how many times I have received phone calls with answers to biopsies or news about lab reports at Costco. And it makes sense that I am feeling all the feelings between the wild caught shrimp and organic chicken nuggets. #nowilaymedowntofight #thebodykeepsthescore

Itโ€™s not all in your head! ๐Ÿ”… When life comes at us thick and fast we are impacted psychologically, emotionally and physically. ๐Ÿ”… The tightness of our chest, the sinking in our stomach, the burdens weighing heavily on our shoulders. ๐Ÿ”… Traditional forms of therapy make space for the psychological and emotional processing. ๐Ÿ”… We talk it through, give oxygen to our pain. We cry, maybe we even voice our anger, grief or despair. ๐Ÿ”… Sometimes this is enough. We know we are better because we feel better, in our hearts, in our minds and in our bodies. ๐Ÿ”… But if you have experienced deep trauma, talking and crying isnโ€™t enough to access the thwarted survival responses in your body. ๐Ÿ”… The contraction against the physical onslaught, the bracing against harsh words, the residual tension from walking on eggshells, the unshed tears still tight in your chest. ๐Ÿ”… Itโ€™s not all in your head, itโ€™s in your body too. ๐Ÿ”… We need to find avenues to access the stifled trauma stuck in our bodies, otherwise we remain incomplete. Trying to move on but still chained to the past buzzing in our nervous system. ๐Ÿ”… I had absolutely no idea how much trauma was stuck in my body from childhood until I started working with TRE. I had no idea how much TRE would help me with the trauma that was about to hit me. ๐Ÿ”… I had talked it out but still felt anxious, I had challenged and reframed negative thoughts but still felt worried about what would happen next, I cried buckets of tears but still felt scared and sad. ๐Ÿ”… I have been practicing and teaching TRE (tension/trauma releasing exercises) for a number of years now and as the residual tension leaves my body it makes space for more clarity, groundedness, resilience, confidence and strength. ๐Ÿ”… I have a special on until 31st December 2019, learn TRE with me, 3 sessions for $250, online appointments available. ๐Ÿ”… When you have tried everything else it might be time to try shaking it free with TRE.
