I got punk’d. Yes, Ashton Kutcher Punk’d! When I opened the email from @lululemonsf asking me to join their Luminaries program, I thought I was going to get fit and lose 60 pounds. Lol. I was wrong. 🤣🤣🤣Instead I would spend 12 weeks with this group of boss women learning more about mindfulness with @welcometowe and building new friendships. I wasn’t going to lose the physical weight, I was going to shed the emotional weight. Phew! We are only 6 weeks in and I have found a whole new community of women who understand me, know my struggles and are willing to push me to my upper limits. Big day today. Lots of picture. Last two are from my run. Run streak day 112 I ran an out and back trail run this morning in Griffith park on the flat trails. Beautiful fall weather once again! Thank you so much Southern California for this beautiful weather. Before I took off on the trails I did a memorial remembering spray air for my mother since today is her Jewish anniversary of her passing. I felt very grounded and connected on my run today. My legs felt strong and steady and I kept my body weight on top of my feet as I glided over 5 miles this morning. Fall break, bring my daughter to work, run home at lunch to get my son to a friend’s house, back to work where my daughter sits in on a major meeting across campus. Today was a good day. Super busy and productive- and amidst that chaos a few very special moments that continue to make me so grateful to do what I do🖤 . On a different note of gratitude, thanks to my car for absolutely needing an oil change and keeping me accountable to my run. I was feeling pretty tired and sluggish this morning, but I thought I might as well get a run in since I had to drop my car...although there was a moment I heavily considered grabbing a coffee and getting my nails done instead🤔 . •8 miles . I felt like I officially became a runner when I started scoping out good sidewalks. I drive this road all the time and finally had a good reason to run here and it did not disappoint. Such a good change of pace👟 Now to pack for a quick weekend get away☀️

BALANCE | I get asked sometimes how I manage working, owning a gym, having a small child, fitness, and all the other things life throws at us all. — The truth is sometimes I don’t manage it very well. I get stressed, tired, cranky, but I’ve learned a few small hacks over the last couple years: 1. Stick to your strengths - you can’t do it all and do it all well. Stay in your lane. 2. Prioritize - I’m a list maker. I write down everything that needs done in the order of priority. “Me time” like working out, reading, or doing whatever you enjoy should be high on the list. 3. Learn to say “NO” - I used to be so bad at this. My guilt and people pleaser mindset would get the best of me. But you cannot please everyone. YOU’RE NOT CHOCOLATE. 🍫 4. Exercise - when I go more than a day or two without exercise, I just don’t feel great. Exercise boosts endorphins, your body’s feel-good chemical. When you feel good, you can accomplish more. 🙌🏻

Swipe for this weeks episode of, “exercises I would never do in public, but now idgaf.” ➖I have a couple months left before I begin my official active fat loss phase, which means now is the time to take full advantage of higher calories for muscle growth in my workout regimen. (Current Macros are 2500-2600 cals, 165 protein, 310 carb, 75 fat) ➖I’m encouraged and excited seeing my progress & how my waist and ratios are changing⏳ ➖Some weeks it feels like I’m coasting & all of a sudden I turn a corner and I start to realize the changes my body is making. I used to straight up AVOID training my lower body at the gym because in my head, (before I got my macro ratio right & was scared to eat.) I thought it would just make my legs and butt look even bigger & I hated it. ➖If you’re someone who’s motivated by the esthetic aspect of working out, GO LIFT & BUILD your muscle. (Which also means you probably need to eat more.) ➖Body building is such an art & I’m obsessed with the challenge that is PATIENCE & consistency, & reaping the rewards. I have been wanting to compete for YEARS now, & this is by far, the most knowledgeable & prepared I have ever been. I’m competing in an NPC division this spring that emphasizes lower body development (hello was this made for me or wut) and working closely with a world-renowned coach: @mikeblackbeard 🔥🤓

My two go-to exercises right now for core work! Save and try or share with a friend who needs to work on their core!💪🏽😏 1️⃣Roll outs on a rowing machine 2️⃣Hanging leg raises (I use a dip bar instead of hanging from a pull bar because of my shoulder injury) Recently I’ve been adding a couple sets of abs at the end of each workout. Pick two exercises and superset them to burn out for a few sets 👌🏽 Keep grinding and keep getting better ✊🏽

Despite not getting enough sleep and not having any motivation today, I made it to the gym and as always, I’m always energized afterwards. I’m always happy that I went. Never do I want to regret doing something or not doing something that I could have either easily done or not done. Sometimes it’s all about sacrifices and you don’t always have the motivation to go. You don’t always have the drive and energy. But you know what you always should have, no matter what? Goals! You should always have goals. Whether it be something small or large, set goals!
