Day 1️⃣0️⃣3️⃣ complete. Push day was a major success with @__joshm the gym partner back. Even though I have a sunburn it didn't affect the pump. Side note ran out in to the rain after I finished the last set to retrieve the car that was parked a good distance away to pick up Josh at the door. Almost got stuck driving home in the heavy rain in my 2006 Honda Civic. Hitting dips for 3 sets of 6 with 7.5 pounds around waist. I love doing dips and they’re my favourite chest and triceps workout as well as my favourite body weight workout. With dips you can really get the deep stretch in your pecs to really activate the muscles needed to push you up that you wouldn’t be able to get by using the bench. So today was my last day at Barney’s Gym. The next couple of days will be prep time for our move to Southern Texas. Not sure what the gym situation will be down there, but my wife assures me that we’ll find a temporary home for me. Lol! As most days, got my workout hoodie on. As @therock puts it, “FOCUS!” . . And a bit of an update on our E-Bear. He proudly shows his chompers. Enjoys his food. Lays there in his crib or on the floor, thinking. But thinking about what? So curious what goes through his head during those moments. I had put him to sleep using the carrier, which I haven’t used in months due to him having set nap times now. But he’s still not used to sleeping in places outside of his crib/room. Just reminded me of his newborn/early days as an infant. My does time fly by. . . And our Nuri Bear. She in her teens, so it makes her a grandma. Last night I had 3 PT sessions & it was honestly my fav way to spend a Friday night! But it had me thinking about how I never use to like doing any type of Arm Workouts until I realized my body look toned everywhere but in my arms. It all depends all your goal, but believe it or not they both hit the tricep in the same way. While Overhand grip is the most commonly used (in my experience) it is most popular because you are able to rack up more weight, without the bar slipping out of your hand. With that being said, most people rack too much weight on & compensate their form (elbows out, shrugged shoulders) Underhand grip pretty much of forces you into good form & you may find that you feel your triceps a bit more in this position... Yet you won't be able to go up as much in weight without the bar sliding out of your hand. My opinion 🤔 do both on different days. Nice (by nice I’m referring to a massive burn in the triceps) finisher added into yesterday’s push session after heavy straight sets courtesy of @hypertrophycoach ! . He takes his set further than I did with extended pullovers/iso holds (he’s more manly than me), but 3 rounds of extension into press was more than enough to fry my triceps! . With four hours of sleep it was very VERY tempting to not go to the gym (Baby didn't sleep much👶) However I got my butt out of bed and did it anyway. It wasn't the most intense workout but it was the first time I've been able to hit biceps and triceps in about three weeks. So that's a completed week in the bag. PREP UPDATE WEEK 5: Another good solid prep week in the books, slight improvements from last week are visible and of course I’m down to a new low weight...89.4kg / 197lbs 🎉🕺 For this 19 week prep I split it into 3 stages: -Stage 1: week 1-5 -Stage 2: week 5-15 -Stage 3: week 16-19 This is to better prepare me for challenges and changes I might encounter, and of course keep me focused 🎯 Stage 1 is typically where big changes occur quickly and it’s all rather exciting. Stage 2 (I’m currently in) is the long process where you’re tested mentally, changes might stall or not happen as fast to you anymore, and you start comparing yourself to others and that’s where insecurity comes in...it’s tough and you’re often never the only one who goes through it. Reach out to people, remind yourself why you do what you do, where you started from, why you started, and above all remember IT IS ONLY IN YOUR HEAD! Stage 3...now that’s the fun part in terms of how you’re looking (depending on how the other stages have gone of course 😂). Energy is low, you’re depleted but you’re lean and looking forward to stepping on stage and showcasing what you’ve worked so many weeks on. If anybody ever tells you women can’t get triceps, I give you permission to tell them to go kick rocks because well I don’t advocate any violence here 😜- but for real have you ever used these little things called resistance loops? Something set my anxiety off this morning so bad that I got nauseous and had to sit on my stairs and take CBD on my way out the door. I finally went to the gym and sat in the parking lot, wasting even more time. Then my excuse to not go in was that I’m almost out of time. I got gas and went home. I sat there for 2 minutes and said nope I need to lift things. I just KICKED MY BUTT harder than I have in awhile ‼️ Some days are good as fuck and some days you have to fight. That’s life with an imbalance in your brain. That’s nothing to ashamed of. In fact, it makes me a strong ass bitch 🧠✨⚡️ - Side note: not too long ago I saw somewhere @jmihalyfit posted that if you don’t push yourself to failure, you’re wasting your time and it has not left my mind. I’ve been putting that into effect more often than not and working out is no longer fun 😂 but it is SO MUCH more rewarding.
