We are getting close to the start of the fuel cycle, so I want to share same information from Serene and Pearl on why they included the fuel cycle as a tool, and *surprise* it’s not only for weight loss! Of course weight loss is part of it, and the reason many people take on the challenge. But, the fuel cycle is about much more than that! It about truly experiencing our individual food freedom by learning how our bodies respond to each of the fuels. The fuel cycle is the perfect time to explore not just how your body responds to S meals and E meals. You have the opportunity to go deeper by changing up the type of foods you are eating within each category. For example, maybe you always eat oatmeal for breakfast like me. Then, for the rest of the day, I feel like I am good with healthy carbs and don’t need to eat any more E meals. The problem with this approach is that I’m not giving myself any opportunities to experience my body’s response to the other amazing, God-given, adrenal nurturing, E foods, like brown rice, quinoa, tropical fruits, sweet potatoes, etc. So, that’s my long winded way of saying, that I hope we can all use the FC not only for weightless, but also as an opportunity to learn about ourselves more deeply so that we can experience freedom more deeply as well. Can you think of ways to learn more about your own body during the fuel cycle? I can’t wait to hear from all of you!

Refrigerator challenge ! I was challenged by @mrscriddleskitchen So my fridge is sparse because I’m only going to the grocery once every 3 weeks. It’s now been 3 weeks. But my hubby is in the field, 🚜 and I’m not about to go grocery shopping w the kids. So what are we eating? From the freezer. And we’ll be fine for awhile. I’ve got 3 more heads of cabbage. 😆 My freezer has bread, many bags of okra, other veggies, & fruit. 2 deer, lots of chicken, & sausage. My farmers won’t go hungry! Fridge doesn’t have very many leftovers because there’s usually just one portion left of dinner for my lunch the following day. And I have an obsession with a clean fridge. My house may have the lived in look 👀 but not the fridge. 😆 I run it like a retail shop. Rotate & wipe down. And now I have this little Dyson vacuum that I love to vacuum up the crumbs that accumulate in the drawers. 😂 added a pic of my garage fridge where we keep our eggs & extra ice cream ingredients. Dinner was leftovers from last night. I made Creamy Green Chili Chicken Bake, the recipe is from Our Best Bites blog, we ate it at my sister's this weekend, it is so good! I had a great time this morning. It’s becoming less of a challenge to get past 5 miles! Today I found myself loving my shadow. It’s funny the things that we start to dislike about ourselves when we’re not at peace with our bodies. I’m so grateful to have had a chance to get my life back! ❤️10.36 miles for today, 123.68 for the month! Do you know how versatile sourdough starter is? I didn’t until I started digging deeper into different sourdough recipes. I’ve made bagels, pizza crust, crackers, cinnamon rolls, and the best no-knead bread. Pictured is my latest batch of crackers with one happy kiddo. I changed up the recipe this time by omitting bacon grease (I used coconut oil instead) and adding everything but the bagel seasoning. 🤤 So. Good. 3 years of becoming a butterfly. 🦋 (part 2)⁣ ⁣ these past 5 months have been eye-opening.⁣ ⁣ I’ve learned I was scared of carbs. I’ve learned that the scale had too much of a hold on me, so I put it in time-out for a few months. I’ve learned that I’ve relied too much on heavy S meals. I completed my 5th fuel cycle. I’ve learned I’ve been pretty sedentary, so I bought a second-hand FitBit in January and I’ve been consistently going on good, long walks since then. I’ve started working out consistently (2-4 times a week) again. I’ve learned I’ve used my knee as an excuse.⁣ ⁣ I’ve been around 90% on plan these last 5 months. I’ve still gone off plan...I’ve still eaten too much and had to reset with some deep S. but mostly, I’ve been on plan.⁣ ⁣ and y’all...the scale still says I’m 20 pounds over my goal weight. I’m not gonna stand here and say that doesn’t mess with my head a little and that I’m not frustrated. I’d love to see a little bit of a reward for all my hard work!!⁣ ⁣ BUT.⁣ ⁣ I’ve learned/am learning to put the scale in its place, and to focus more on how I FEEL. and you guys, I feel so. much. better. than I did last summer. I feel stronger, and healthier, and fitter. I still want to reach that goal weight...or at least be a whole heck of a lot closer. 3 years of becoming a butterfly. 🦋 (part 1)⁣ ⁣ May is my “trimiversary” month, and while it’s hard to believe I’ve been following the Trim Healthy Mama plan for 3 years now, it also seems impossible that it’s *only* been 3 years.⁣ ⁣ this journey has NOT been a straightforward one, but it HAS been a worthwhile one.⁣ ⁣ I started THM after years and years of struggling with my weight and trying out many different diets and exercise programs...none of which stuck or worked for long.⁣ ⁣ I healed my gut and hit goal weight within a year and a half of being on plan, but then I tried to make up for years of not eating gluten, and I simultaneously wrecked my gut again and gained back some of the weight.⁣ ⁣ two+ years on plan found me (once again) gluten free and at goal weight, but not what I’d consider “healthy”. I had injured my knee pretty badly, and I was only a few weeks from getting married. the stress was HIGH and my body was in constant fight mode.⁣ ⁣ post wedding (almost 9 months ago) found me sick on our honeymoon (fun stuff) and eating both sugar and gluten in the name of celebration. (bad idea.) over the next almost 4 months, I was on/off plan and gained about 20 pounds. YIKES.⁣ ⁣ the last few days of 2019, I decided enough was enough. I hated how I felt, hated how I looked, and I was ready for a change. Early lunch! I just made it and tbh I am so proud of it! 😂😂 i didn’t know what I wanted so I just grabbed items that sounded good out of the fridge and voila this was born. I bought some sweet potatoes yesterday not realizing they were white sweet potatoes. I'd never even heard of white sweet potatoes! But, looks like they are on plan, just not as nutrient dense.
