Our 9:30am classes at Intrepidus are filled will mostly Mum's and so we have a special Mummy Membership just for them. The classes are perfect timing just after school drop off and we even have a creche supervised by a qualified childcare worker who we've nicknamed the baby whisper as she's amazing the the kids @marisamagistro We cater for postpartum mummy's, complete beginners and those who have training experience. Many mum's who start with us have no history of weight training and so initially we focus on teaching them to move well and then we focus on getting them Strong 💪🏻💪🏻 Some of the best transformations I have seen over the 5 years that I have been training my clients at Intrepidus have been from the mums and when I say transformation this to me is much more than physical. To see mums doing something for themselves, to see them grow in confidence and to see them becomes stronger physically and mentally is what keeps me going. The best bit for my clients though is that they have a Mum for a trainer who understand the ups and downs of motherhood, the sleepless nights in the early days, the toddler tantrums in early childhood and the feelings of guilt that we sometimes experience as mums when we do something for ourselves. @skwaat_monsta came to watch me at the Australian Championships over the weekend. He himself is just getting back in to his lifting after an epic 3 month European trip. Not allowing me to outdo him, the day after I lifted my PB deadlift of 150kg, he turns around the next day and does a 151kg deadlift 😂💪. He did this on the balcony of his Melbourne AirBNB apartment. Travelling with his weights. That’s commitment! What a legend! at Southbank, Victoria, Australia

My best training days are when I feel the most confident prior to the lift. If powerlifting has taught me anything, it’s that confidence matters and mindset is everything. I treat my volume sets/days with just as much intensity and focus as my top singles or a PR. How else are you supposed to get strong if you don’t believe in your own strength and abilities?? 🤔 Sumo top single: 235. 5x5: 195. Comp bench 5x5: 100. BW also going back down. Sitting around 53kg. It’s not all ☀️ and 🌹es. Some days you win, some days the weight wins. But if I only posted the good days, I’d be fake, and I’d be putting up an unrealistic image of who I am. - - I know that I wasn’t fully there today. Things like... 🌹Mental fatigue 🌹Not resting long enough in between sets 🌹More narrow stance than normal 🌹Lifting later at night 🌹Increased stress and anxiety levels 🌹Physical fatigue ...are all factors for today, not excuses by any means. Me at BOB3 last year. Probably the best shape I have been in for a meet. I am nowhere close to this kind of shape going into the meet on Saturday. If I make weight, I will have cut 20lbs in the last 6 months and basically started over on squats and dead’s after having surgery in February. I may not be putting up huge numbers but I’ve put in a lot of work to get this far. I’m already calling it a successful meet! Two big things today: 1. You are your own worst critic 2. Trust the process - - - The last few days, I’ve been weighing about 1-2 pounds heavier than my regular range. Minor, I know, but it’s been worrying me a lot. I immediately started thinking of ways to decrease my calories and drop back down. But I had a very important series of thoughts and reminders that brought me back to reality: - I’m stressed, I’ve got 3 exams in 2 weeks and it’s a lot of work. Stress can cause fluctuations in weight! - I’ve been stressed about my weight...which doesn’t help the issue. - I’m lifting hella weights and building strength. - Literally NOBODY has made a negative comment about my body lately that I can even remember. I am the only one being critical of the way I look, and I need to work on loving myself for who I am. - My coach set these macros for me because he knows what he’s doing. It's OK to not be OK 100% of the time. It's OK to need to take a day or even two days to yourself to refocus your mind and to just rejuvenate your body. It's OK to lose motivation at times and it's OK to not feel like going. For the last 3.5 months, I’ve gone from maintenance mode to eating more than ever (and it’s not just making me squishy heyyy 🙋🏼). I knew if I wanted to get bigger, I was going to have to make some changes - and I think I’ve found the “sweet spot”. Currently, I eat 2,000+ cals a day (a lot for my 5-foot self) and never dip under 250g of carbs. I love that I’m never hungry, I have lots of energy and I literally have treats daily. There were a few years where I ate in a major deficit, so in comparison, this almost feels too good to be true. My goals right now are only to build muscle and stay healthy. Surprised I even touched parallel at 185 lbs. Been slacking a little on my workouts because of how exhausted I’ve been. When I went to Menifee last weekend, all we did was relax and eat tons of good food. When I got back, it was back to working 3 jobs starting at 3 am. Whew, I was ded and prioritized a little extra sleep I can have over waking up early to gym. Really happy I even hit this for 2 mediocre reps. Things are slowly falling back into place! 🤙🏼 Ft. some Rufio to make up for a boring video. Lol! at PSNS Gym

It starts with an idea. The idea that more is possible. That you’re capable of something great and that - if you really want it - you can make it happen. I wholeheartedly believe in this now, but I never used to. There are people who are more extroverted, always optimistic, and positive -- but, I am not those things, at least inherently. Most of my energy is allocated to ignoring the general anxiety I wake up with every morning. Or the imposter syndrome in my head every time I have an idea that makes me excited to pursue. I'm very introverted. I'm not the go-to person for motivational quotes or "how to love yourself." I'm generally pretty cynical, really. I used to think that not having these traits meant I couldn't be the "type of person," capable of creating the things I went to bed every night dreaming about. "I'd really love to do this, but..." I finally realized that the only common denominator was that I never let myself try. I kept letting those thoughts hold me back from even starting. "Other people do this, not me." So despite the anxiety, despite the imposter syndrome, despite the mistakes -- I basically just said fuck it, and tried, because I really, really care. I care about the things I want to create. I put my whole heart into the things I believe in and the people I love. Since then, I've promised myself that I will always keep trying. I will always keep doing -- because I'm finally creating things I feel really good about. It's so freeing to be excited and obsess over an idea endlessly throughout the day and then let yourself follow through. Just start. Create it. Anyone can do it, but not everyone DOES. So, yeah, now I believe in it. And I think, there are a lot more people like me. Despite how it sometimes feels scrolling through Instagram.
