Deadlifts..on a Monday. Left knee isn’t feeling too hot, so decided to bust out the stiff bar and see what I could do on this rainy day. I haven’t used a non-deadlift bar in at least 3 years 😂 turned out great tho. Top sets with no belt: 600lbs/272.5kg for the top weight + 1rm with this variation. I hit 628lbs on the deadlift bar a couple weeks back, interesting comparison. 551lbs/250kg as the last warmup. Back down sets were 496lbs/225kg x 8 reps and 463lbs/210kg x 5 reps paused. Finished with SSB goodmornings, weighted pull-ups and decline sit-ups. When something hurts..do all the things that don’t hurt 😂 thanks to my boy @andycharlesling for coming in today and helping me out 🙏

Max clap pushups = 10. Went for 11 on one set and face planted so I’ll take that as direct feedback that I hit a 10RPE (rate of perceived exertion). These aren’t easy but as always you can regress them to your current abilities. First off you should have a solid push-up base with good form, then simply choose an incline level that allows you to deload some bodyweight and complete the movement. I had the pleasure to take @thailam_aerialist's workshops this past weekend! I started filming myself at the beginning of the learning process to better understand my thought process and learning style. I learned a lot... . 1) I can learn sequences fairly quickly now and they don't look so horrible my second run through ☝️ 2) my knee hangs are horrible and slidey and I don't hide that panic very well 😖 3) I hate drops going forwards and am a real big baby about it 😂 4) I freaking love fabric theory 5) wtf happened to my snowflake 🙈 . Took a much needed mental health weekend of not doing a whole lot of anything. After feeling on the brink of totally loosing my shit it was time for a little self care. There was a mini breakdown and lots of time spent in bed. It’s ok to not always feel on top of your game, it’s ok to simply not be ok. I remember 3.5 years ago I saw @naudiaguilar do the FP Splitter Jump online for the first time. I had never seen something done like that as an exercise. It made me start to think I was understanding this FP thing. (Boy was I wrong, lol) "This is just like running, only more vertical rather than horizontal," I thought to myself. I attempted it and filmed myself doing so. The 30 minutes I spent tangling with the exercise left me in disbelief at my own incompetence. I could box jump 52" at the time but the coordination, tensions and sequencing needed to fulfill the requirements of this movement were inaccessible to me. I ended up just compressing my hip like I usually did with most exercises I would try. I knew I had imbalances and I thought I was trying to address them at some level, but had little success with all the ambiguous and uninformative resources I tried. Mobility WODs, Calisthenics, Gymnastics Training, Yoga, Animal Flows, Banded Distractions, Voodoo Flossing, Static Stretching, Isometric Stretching etc. Thankfully I began to see @functionalpatterns for what it is. An ongoing and ever-evolving attempt at an all-encompassing human optimization system that brings together known concepts of physics, natural law and human behaviour to re-condition well adapted human beings. Rehabing the pain associated with your bum knee or shoulder is just the beginning. Have you ever thought that the way you act or think in frequent situations have a link to the dysfunctional movement patterns or body language ticks you habituate? That can in turn can lead you back to your pain response. Posture is you, it's who you are, Gait is dynamic posture. Changing posture means changing you. The world is looking to go through some humbling times in the near future. We're all going to have to show some great humility to come out on the other side. Improving mind and muscle connection on your lats Barbell Rows & Dumbbell Rows are staples when it comes to building your back. However, many beginners and even intermediate lifters have trouble "feeling" their lats when doing these exercises. If you don't have a good "mind muscle connection" when performing rows, you are losing out on a lot of gains. Here is a variation of a rowing exercise that will help you feel your lats better. First, lie face down on an incline bench and support yourself with your feet so you don't slide down the bench. Begin rowing the dumbbells by driving your elbows up and back. Your forearms should be perpendicular to the floor the entire movement. Make sure you row until your elbows are past your body and squeeze your lats as hard as you can at the top. Once you feel a good contraction, lower the dumbbells back down in a slow and controlled manner. Choose a weight that is half of what you usually dumbbell row and perform 15-20 reps for 3-5 sets. Once hot add tomato and spices and cook for few min stirring. Add garlic and cook for another minute. Add the remaining ingredients except spinach and garnish. Stirr to combine for another 10min uncovered. Add spinach and cover and cook until spinach wilts. Some updates. As you can tell I’ve been eating good..resting well and lifting heavy. It’s been almost one month post show and I’m sitting at 97kg, around 4kg above stage weight. Embarrassingly, all the weight gain came from binging the weekend after the show. Instead of cutting back down and try to stay lean year round like I did before, I just went right back to maintenance and kept it right there. ‘Lifting heavy makes you bulky’ 😂 One line that always makes me giggle inside. While lifting heavy weight and eating in a surplus can make you bulk if that’s your goal... you can also lift like a beast while having a healthy balance between lifting and eating habits leading to a well rounded strong body with a bit of squish to keep ya warm as it gets cold. • This past week I have been oh so busy, just keeping my head down and grinding not only in work... but fitness goals as well. You bet your bottom dollar we hit the gym 5 times this week as planned, pumping one another up along the way with cat naps wherever possible! Thank you @ovofitfam for always being down for a cuddle and nap when this kitten is feeling so very sleepy 💤 • The one thing I have really enjoyed this week was being to busy to instagram and Instead doing what I love and what fills my soul. The beltless savagery continues. 666lbs/302.5kg x 3 reps beltless for a new PR - this felt harder than it should’ve been, but I got standing ab wheel soreness to blame for that 😂 still got it. Deficit conventional: 529lbs/240kg x 4 reps beltless off a 3.5” block. Bitched out, should’ve done a 5th. Followed by 496lbs/225kg x 7 reps backdown. Finished with rows and RDL’s. Improvements all around. Beltless training is super valuable in fully understanding your setup/execution as you don’t have the belt to ‘rely’ on as a crutch. Thanks to @famousbouncers for keeping me from self destructing..yet again 😂

(Link in bio). . This was a fun machine I used in LA. Note that when you reach higher (increase shoulder flexion) for pulling movements, you stretch your lats more . Happy Sunday Everyone! ⠀ Excuse my photo skills here...turns out I’m not a food blogger (yet) haha. So you asked for the recipe to my breakfast sandwich and here it is!⠀ Preheat a small cast iron pan to medium high heat (about 5min).⠀ Place enough oil in pan to coat it lightly (so it won’t stick.⠀ Crack eggs directly into pan and then lower heat slightly and cover. About 2-5 min depending on how runny you want your yolk.⠀ While you are doing the above, cut tomato’s and mash some avacado. Pop your toast in the toaster and it all should be done around the same time.⠀ Spread avacado on one side of the bread and depending on your condiment taste you can do @spreadem cashew cheese, mayo, mustard or cream cheese on the other. I have friends and family who like all of the above.⠀ (I personally just do avacado and mustard).⠀ Garnish with tomatoes and salt and pepper and enjoy!!⠀ Let me know how this goes!

REHAB ~ 4 months ago I was struck by a car as a pedestrian. as a quick recap to any of my new followers i suffered from some upper back, neck, and shoulder mobility limitations. The bruises, scraps, and road rash has healed but there’s still some discomfort training upper body and most likely will be for the next couple of years due to the impact my body took from the car. I posted a poll on my story awhile back and most of you were interested in me sharing my rehabilitation regimen that my RMT & Physiotherapist advised to assist my recovery. SO HERE IT IS🎺- finally! These movements focus on improving my overall neck and shoulder mobility in addition to core stability . REHAB METHOD⤵️ . SHOULDER STRENGTHENING: . ✨Wall Extensions 8-15 reps *press arms against wall with pressure to increase difficulty (the friction from doing this daily WILL remove any arm hair you have😂PSA) ✨Resistance Band Shoulder Shuffles (5 small shuffles up & down) AMRAP *keep arms shoulder width apart and as parallel as possible throughout movement ✨Foam Roller Wall Slides with Resistance Band *apply pressure on the foam roller and keep steady - roll out to the top as if your reaching to a high shelf ✨Swiss Ball Lateral Shoulder Presses 8-12 reps Keep your neck locked in neutral at all times for all exercises in general. If you notice it’s jutting forward, reduce tension/weight as it will only cause strain‼️ be HUMBLE with the weight especially if you are injured. Work your way up gradually. CORE STABILIZATION: . ✨Palouf Press 10 reps (1 rep forward + 1 rep at 45 degree angle = 1 total rep) BACK STRETCHES: . ✨Cat/Cow bend ✨Cobra back bend transitioning into Child’s Pose ✨Supine Spinal Twist back stretch ✨Neck stretch (hold onto the edge of a seat and hold neck for 30 seconds, then repeat but look down to the side, then again to your right side - repeat for opposite side . ✒️note that this is sped up for demonstration purposes and you should usually hold most stretch’s for approximately 30 seconds+ I hope you guys find this recovery routine useful! #recovery | #rehabilitation | #mobility

Morning Fog of War. 🙏🏋️‍♂️🦄 When you climb up a mountain, you climb yourself. Inspiration Below 👇 When i first embarked on the Grouse Grind, it was March and there was snow after the half way point on the trail. I was 285lbs... This was absolutely brutal. I recall portions where i literally was clawing up the mountain like a bear. I was slipping everywhere. My belief was that i was doing some sort of initiation to see if i could cut it. One hiker remarked that perhaps the test was "to see if you were smart enough to go back down." Well. I didn't go back down and it took me well over 90mins to finish. I didn't quit. Today, i did just under an hour on the BCMC and i feel amazing. I could never have imagined that i would have this life, back then.
