On our day time safaris everyone handles their own reindeerpark and the reindeer won't be connected anywhere else but the driving rope. Die Huskyschlittentour in Lappland war eines unserer tollsten Erlebnisse letztes Jahr. Haben wir euch eigentlich schon davon erzählt? Je näher wir dem Hof kommen, umso lauter wird es. Die Schlittenhunde springen und bellen, machen sich mit wölfsähnlichem 🐺 Geheul bemerkbar: Wann gehts endlich los? So eine Vorfreude bei Tieren zu sehen begeistert uns total. Mit aller Kraft muss Paul die gußeiserne Bremse mit beiden Füßen in den Schnee drücken, damit die Hundegespanne nicht sofort losrasen. Dann schiebt er die Schnalle zurück – und die erste Schlittehundefahrt unseres Lebens beginnt. Die Energie von 6 sportlichen Huskies zieht uns. Eine Zeitlang folgen wir den Schlittenspuren, die Bäume ziehen an uns vorbei, wir sind umgeben von sanften weißen Berghängen. ❄️🌲❄️ Mit dem rhythmischen Hecheln in den Ohren lasse ich die Landschaft auf mich wirken. Pipipausen gibts nicht nur für die Hunde, sondern auch für uns. Und zwar mit Lagerfeuer, heißem Kaffee 🔥☕ aus finnischen Kuksa Holzbechern und ein paar Würste, die wir auf Stöcke spießen und über den Flammen braten lassen. Die Hunde wälzen sich im Schnee zum Abkühlen. Nach der Pause wird gewechselt. Jetzt darf ich ins Leben eines Mushers reinschnuppern. Spoiler Alert: es fühlt sich großartig an. Wir nähern uns in Serpentinen wieder der Huskyfarm. Während wir den Huskies das Geschirr ablegen sind wir aufgeputscht und glücklich. Sogar einen Hundeschlitten-Führerschein kriegen wir. Last night lady Aurora showed up just as predicted. We had several successful northern light hunting safaris: with reindeer, on snowshoes and by car. Quests were very happy, no doubt. Luckily we have these nice fire places around the area to keep you warm. Last week's Auroras photographed by awesome photographer @j.vaahtera from @sallaskiresort. At the moment wee are again in a stream of high speed solar wind which is very likely to spark the Auroras again. Yesterday (Thursday) the conditions were very good for the lights, but unfortunately here in Salla sky was mostly cloudy. 2,3 meter long forest skis are traditional way of moving in the Arctic nature. With these backcountry skis you are not trapped on the tracks but you can choose your way by yourself. We are having the cold spell on us and temperatures are dropping down to -30°c and below. Our safaris are still running normally and the reindeer enjoy this kind of weather because it's not too hot to work.
