At work yesterday, I worked the aquatic physical therapy with a different person than i typically do. She is super athletic, a personal trainer, and a body builder. I've always been intimidated by her because I'm just little 'ol me with my at home workouts. I do what i can, but i definitely don't see myself at her level! We got to talking, and it was so neat. She talked to me like I was an equal. She even said I should think about entering body building competitions. I've been asked or told that before by other people, but never someone who actually enters them. Seriously, not something I plan on doing because I just workout for the fun of it and to be healthy for my family, but it was a super encouraging interaction which I needed during this time when I'm so limited with what I can do because of my hips. Super proud of myself for pushing through today!!! . I slept like shit and ended up with a horrible migraine. It actually started last night and then got worse after I couldn't sleep right. . I am on deadline for my magazine so a stupid migraine was exactly what I did not need. It took me a while to get going but I smashed Week of Hard Labor total body, which is a goddamned GRIND. . I haven't done that one in forever and it almost killed me. It's ladder workout and the back half of the ladder was rough. It sucked so bad I forgot how bad my head hurt. . Then I went and grabbed my migraine meds from the pharmacy. I hate taking that stuff. It's non-narcotic, obviously, but I still hate to take it. And it makes the nausea so much worse. . It's like it has to get worse before it can get better. . After that, I finally made myself sit down and start to write. Good thing I have yoga in the morning because my legs are DONE! 🔥🔥🔥 I love that he works out with me 🥰 we have so much fun 💦 Speaking of yoga, I’m halfway through my 3 week retreat. This morning was a challenge because one leg balancing is kind of my weakness. Last week they introduced the tree pose and I kept falling BUT this week on day 10 I killed that tree pose 👊 never lost my balance once!! 😃 but let’s not talk about that downward dog one leg balancing stuff... maybe next week 😂 Look, I know exercise isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but it should be... it’s sooooo good for your health! Your goals might not match mine and that’s cool. Full disclosure I wasn’t strong enough to push the bed covers off me and get my workout done. After I found out that my tennis team are champions elect my mood changed drastically...I couldn’t get to the garage quick enough 😁. Mathematically we are there with one game left but it is a game against a team that has been beaten all season. Well. Somehow I survived yesterday. . You guys, that was hell. I'm not even exaggerating. I'm still a little out of it today... I've got what I like to call a migraine hangover. I'm pretty wiped out and will most likely go home and crash super early. . I managed hard labor shoulders and arms this morning, so that was a major accomplishment. For some this picture might not mean a lot, but to me it’s been years in the making. Today I finished #weekofhardlabor. I had never done this much lifting without mixing it up before, but it was exactly what I needed this week and this photo proves it. Today was up the ladder and down the ladder to 8 reps. These are my light and medium weights. That’s right 7.5 # for light and 10 # for medium. Say what?!?! We are all stronger than we think - we just often need a little push to help us realize it. I'm a firm believer in good workout clothes! In my normal every day clothes, I never wear animal print. I like it, but I just don't think I can pull it off! In my workout clothes, I feel bad. What workout and I doing and what am I going to wear to work. Those are the two most prominent questions in my life. If I'm sitting there, gazing off into space... No. I'm not pondering life's secrets or entertaining deep thoughts of any kind. I'm trying to decide on my next workout and outfit. Today I didn't know!!!!!!!!! I hate that because 4:30 a.m. is too early for thinking. And Slim decided to start puking at 2:45, so I've basically been awake since then. Little fucker. I am, however, impressed with how quickly I can fly out of bed in order to prevent him from barfing on the carpet. I'm talking Muhammad Ali speed. I needed a workout that I do with less frequency because I am getting burned out on Dirty 30 Extreme and Build Shoulders. So hard labor shoulders and arms is what I settled on. The hardest part of my day is done before I even leave my house... It makes a huge difference in my mindset. Also... Fuckkkkkkkkkk meeeeeeeeeeeeee No sleep dudes. I got no fucking sleep. Omg I invested in so many new herbal remedies last weekend and fucking nada. At first I was like, ok, only use one thing at a time so you'll be able to identify what works. After another sleepless night I was like fuck that. Monday night I ingested everything in my herbal inventory while breathing two different diffused essential oils. Yesterday some shit happened that pissed me off. Bam. I woke up at 2 and my mind was racing. No more sleep for me. Reallllllly proud of myself for getting it done. My upper body is still sore, and now my lower body hurts too. Blech. Not that I'm trying to dwell on the negative, but sometimes small things continually build until they kind of become a larger thing. That's how my week is so far. I need to be better about holding myself in. My overt enthusiasm for working is not always embraced and I often forget that fact. I lifted some heavy shit today, so that always helps. Week of Hard Labor Chest and Back is done. And, the great news is that even though yesterday sucked ass, I didn't eat ten tons of peanut butter and sugar free chocolate chips when I got home. Yay!! As of yesterday, my plan was to be bad and do leg day even though I wasn't supposed to, but I'm feeling yesterday's water pt so I behaved! I've decided to focus on my core on my scheduled leg or cardio days! I did a week of hard labor core. I did some moves I probably wasn't supposed to do, but I really focused on keeping my hips straight! I may or may not use this one again because of the leg lifts and hip dips, but it definitely pushed this morning. I also added in weighted calf raises and deadlifts because I got permission to do those! Doooooooood I am feeling the deadline stresssssss!!! I have to have my magazine done by tomorrow and I have to drive up to Index first to do one final fact check on one of my features!!!!! Talk about waiting until the last minute!!!! I am a deadline girl all the way. 🤣🤣😂😂😭😭🥵🥵 It's good though. Sometime winging it is the best way. I am connecting with a busy family and trying to schedule things the way normal people do hasn't worked for us. My frantic "I'm coming up" message was far more effective!! And actually, I'm feeling pretty great about where I'm at because the real hard stuff is done. My longest feature this issue is the @the.amarillo and that one is good to go!!!! Owner approved and everything!!! I worked really hard on it and am accompanying it with like six million photos. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Today I started working as soon as I got up, and put in about four hours before taking a break to work out. Knocked out Week of Hard Labor Shoulders and Arms, and then immediately dove back into the writing. So grateful to be almost done with this project. This magazine really challenges me, and I always kind of hate it until I'm done. I'm stoked that I'll be finishing ahead of when I'd planned because I'm excited about getting back to my real job. @sagithebeast is the best when it comes to weight training. I did shoulders and arms from his Week Of Hard Labor program. If you want results, @sagithebeast is the man to follow. Ladies, don’t be intimidated just because he is a body builder. You’re not going to ever bulk up like him unless you’re having extra help. You will however, get stronger and completely re shape your body. Cardio alone is never going to get you that lean muscle mass, you gotta lift weights. My friends comment on how my hips look more narrow and how I look leaner overall. I know that it’s not due to cardio because I used to be a cardio junkie and never saw the changes I’m seeing now. Yay for RAIN!!! I am exhausted but sooooooooooooo grateful and happy for the clear roads. Traffic was a breeze, I imagine because so many people are still stuck. I slept like crap but forced myself to get up at 5:30. I knew I'd be pushing it for time and had planned on doing a 30-minute workout, but at the last minute hit play on Week of Hard Labor Shoulders and Arms. It was super hard but I got it done. It's longer, at 44 minutes, but I figured if I got in by 8:30 that would be cool. And the timing ended up working out because the freeway as green all the way!! Wow crazy day!!!! I worked from home today and completely blew off my alarm, which meant I crawled out of bed at 7:40. That is sleeping in for me!! I barely had time to guzzle all my water and get coffee before I was at my desk drafting my first post of the day. Then I got to tackle a bunch of my new responsibilities until it was time for a break. I ate some food and knocked out Week of Hard Labor Chest and Back, which I haven't done in months and months. It was a great way to do some more chest stuff as kind of a gauge to see how it felt!! It was difficult to get motivated to work out. It's easier when I do it first thing in the morning... It seems like the longer I wait, the harder it is. Then I found out my parents needed help because they couldn't get out of their driveway with all this bullshit show. I had to work from 5 to 8, so I raced over there around 3 to help. What a mistake!!! The roads were fucked and I almost got stuck like 96 times. It was insane!!! Horrible!!!! I was sooooooooooooo worried I wouldn't make it home and I promised my boss I would be working at my desk at 5!!! Thankfully, I made it. Fuck the show!!!! I am pretty stoked about today's workout!!!!! I finally felt like I could handle all the decline push-ups, so I tackled Week of Hard Labor (WOHL) Total Body!!! 💪💪 WOHL Total Body and Bulk Legs are the hardest workouts that I do. Total body is long and super challenging... It's one of those ladder workouts so there aren't any breaks. You go up the ladder and back down and you don't stop until you're done. The whole thing is super relentless. I haven't done it since waaaaaaay before my surgery. It's a huge time commitment and a huge commitment to almost an hour of PAIN. It's meant to be more endurance-oriented with lighter weights, but of course I use heavy weights because that's what I like to do. I am excited that I got it done. I did have to pause and catch my breath a couple times but for the most part, I nailed it. And then... I walked over 15,000 steps with one of my favorite humans!! We went all around Kirkland taking photos!!!! It was the perfect day!!! You know... I was so freaked out about my surgery and not being able to work out for so long (three long weeks) and have been working SO hard to get back to where I was. I'm not quite there yet, but I'm getting really close. Getting my 30s up for presses on Friday and now finishing WOHL Total Body are great milestones in terms of my recovery. Now it's time to set some new goals and figure out how to enhance my overall fitness level. I've got some ideas circulating on that... Hard work pays off. Always. Took ibuprofen last night and slept so much better! I only woke up twice because I somehow trying to lay on my hip. After talking things over with my friend, I decided to take a break from cardio this week. I'll be switching to a week of hard labor and re-evaluate what to do next week. Today was chest and back.
