Had SUCH a great experience in the weight room. A personal trainer came up to me and said, “Hey, are you a trainer or something?” to which I answered, “No, not at all! I just started weight training in November.” He replied, “So that’s been what, 6 months? You have completely transformed.” I of course thanked him for the kind comment and he then said, “I watch everyone here and your rest periods are perfect, your order of exercises are perfect, and your training is really intelligent. Where did you learn your information?” And I told him the truth, just hours and hours (and HOURS!!) of studying exercise science and nutrition on YouTube and Google. It was such a validating comment to hear because I’ve started doing a new split in the last few weeks that I created & programmed myself. I’ve been feeling awesome but I still have my days of self-doubt, so hearing from a certified trainer who formally studied exercise science that my training is intelligent made me SO happy. I’ve put endless hours into this lifestyle and I can’t say enough how much I LOVE lifting weights. I push myself to failure constantly, confront my limits physically and mentally, and grow into a stronger human being daily. It takes so much persistence, but god do I love it and look forward to training more than anything else. Today I attempted 220 lbs squats (freemotion machine squats but STILL) and had no problem doing 6-8 reps. Consider that in November I had difficulty squatting the empty bar (45 lbs)... Yeah, I’ve come far. I’ve gotten so strong and this is ONLY the beginning for me. Anyway I just feel so fucking good and had to share this today. Consistent, difficult, high intensity training has been paying off, and I’ve never been so happy with my body or with my mental health as I am now. at Newport, Rhode Island

💜 LEGS 💜 Today I had to leave my ego at door when I went to squat about 95% of my 1RM and I asked someone to watch my squat and tell me if I broke parallel. I didn’t. If it wasn’t for him telling me, I would’ve believed that I did and I would’ve continued squatting that weight with poor form. I’m glad that he told me because now I know my weakness and I can work on fixing it. In powerlifting competitions, you simply need to break parallel in order for your squat to count. Today, I realized that with squatting with the mentality that all I need to do is break parallel that I was giving less than what was required. Looking back at old videos, it could be argued that my squats were not deep enough. I don’t want my squat depth to be debatable; I want my squats to be unquestionably deep enough so that there is no doubt as to whether my squat should count. After my failed squat, I took down the weight significantly and focused on reaching depth. • Today’s workout was primarily glute and hamstring focused. Not every exercise was recorded.
