Workout 27 of 30 completed for #ptsdawareness. ⁣ ⁣ Today is National PTSD Awareness Day so it was extra important I got up and got it done. I was even awake before my alarm went off. ⁣ ⁣ I did arms (they feel like jello, I added additional sets) and 30 minutes of cardio. I was more on my game this morning and it felt good to crush it early. ⁣ ⁣ Today will be busy. Work and then heading off to the car show for the weekend. I'm always looking for ways to help my weight loss journey and I’m so excited to share this with you. Teami (pronounced tea me) reached out to me recently and asked me to try one of their tea blends. I was asked in the gym the other week whether I was ‘in to all that band shit’⁣ ⁣ As most of my clients will know, I love a good band 😅 but there is method to the madness. I don’t just radomnly lash bands into certain exercises for the sake of it.⁣ ⁣ Basically, for all exercises, there will be points during the range of motion where the weight that you are using feels either heavier or lighter.⁣ ⁣ For example, during a bench press, the weight will feel heavier at the bottom of the range vs the top.⁣ ⁣ A lot of machines these days are designed to take this into account. Adjusting the loading of the exercise where you are weakest/strongest to allow for a more constant resistance⁣ ⁣ It’s a different story with free weight exercises however, which is where bands come in. ⁣ ⁣ As you can see in the above image, I have attached bands to the top of the rack and around the bar, this is called reverse banding. Essentially, it acts to deload at the bottom of the movement where I am weakest. So basically taking off a little bit of the weight.⁣ ⁣ Now, a lot of people will scoff that this makes the exercise easier. But, does it? ⁣ Really, this provides more consistent loading throughout the movement. Instead of it feeling super light at the top and heavier at the bottom, I’m actually able to use more weight and receive an equally heavy load throughout the entire range of motion, equalling an all in all more efficient challenge to the quads 🤷🏻‍♂️⁣ ⁣ Give it a try!

Chemo made me fat. Yep! I thought bright side to it all would be I'd lose weight but of course it had the opposite effect on me. I trained a lot prior (4-5 days of crossfit) and ate healthy but flexible. My doctor told me to tone it down & stop crossfit, so I joined anytime. No where near as intense but still better than nothing. I'd go when I could & was going well till I got septic, same week i started losing my hair. I was paranoid then about bacteria & the looks so went less. Chemo got harder & I got a picc line so was going even less. I tried with wigs but it was too hot so I finally decided to just rest till im better. I also didn't eat or drink much for 3 days during chemo weeks - so my body decided to retain. Chemo effects your hormones, digestion, circulation, heart.. everything. I went from getting gym PBs, 100kg deadlift & 50kg cleans to being puffed walking up my stairs after my very first chemo! Chemo ended and i was 4kg heavier. My body is still adjusting, I have 1kg to lose to be as I was but I've started @equalution to help me get there.
