Okay so tip #1 of my advice to staying on track series is to GET ORGANISED โ€ผ๏ธ Getting organised can help with many aspects of life but in this instance I find getting organised can help me to stay on track with my goals regarding fat loss, weight gain or even maintenance of body mass. Some techniques I use (pictured in the photo set - each picture to each point) to stay more organised and steered towards these goals are: ๐ŸŒธ filling in a diary daily - I havenโ€™t done this in a long while but Iโ€™m going to be restarting. Iโ€™ve found that having the accountability of filling in a diary every day to log the activity I did, how much water I drank or how Iโ€™m feeling physically as a result of training/nutrition helps a lot to stay focused and centred around my goals! Life can get busy and your mind can easily wander from what you really want, but creating a habit of logging your daily actions that have helped to steer you towards your goals can be a huge help! ๐ŸŒธ keeping up to date with regular weigh ins - again, have only recently restarted this habit. This can help to record progress and/or fluctuations day to day and give you a better understanding and acceptance of how quickly and randomly your bodyโ€™s readings can change. Iโ€™ll be doing another post explaining this further for anyone who wants to know more about this so keep an eye outโ˜บ๏ธ at the end of each week (provided I get valued for each day) I can work out the average values and take this as my final weigh in for the week. Week-to-week I can then compare these averages and see the overall loss or gain achieved in the time period. ๐ŸŒธ lastly, I ensure to plan my workouts before getting to the gym. This avoids getting to the gym, realising I donโ€™t know what on earth to do and as a result having a poor workout. I simply create a table on notes listing the exercises Iโ€™d like to complete in the session and for how many sets and repetitions I will perform this exercise. How low can you go, how low can you go. ๐Ÿ‘ True story, sometimes I sing songs in my head to distract me from how badly my body hurts. ๐Ÿ˜‚ And by sometimes I mean ALL THE TIME. You can totally see the pain on my face during todays 20 minute bonus leg workout. Like who decides to do a bonus leg workout? THIS GIRL. ๐Ÿ™Œ Truthfully I've never really been super motivated to workout and have always hated physical activities but I'm hella motivated by how my body looks and feels. ๐Ÿ™ With holiday season approaching I'm committed to doing all the scheduled bonus workouts in my program and following my meal plan so that I can feel good come January! The same exact drink, plus or minus whipped cream. Got it? โ€ขโ€ขโ€ข โ˜๏ธ Hereโ€™s the thingโ€ฆ whipped cream is a fluffy, delicious addition to any Frappuccinoยฎ (along with other things like pumpkin pie, ice cream, etc). However, itโ€™s also loaded with sneaky calories (and fat!)โ€ฆ frustrating! โ€ขโ€ขโ€ข โŒ The reason youโ€™d say โ€œno whip pleaseโ€ is because you want to save the 120 calories it adds to your drink. Now, you might be thinkingโ€ฆ โ€œBut Max, 120 calories is no big deal. So what gives?โ€ And yeah, youโ€™re right. In the big picture, 120 calories is no biggieโ€ฆ or is it? โ€ขโ€ขโ€ข ๐Ÿฆ„ If you have whipped cream with your Frapp just once in an entire year or during your fat loss journey, no big deal whatsoever. However, if you have an additional (and preventable) 120 calories every day for a yearโ€ฆ or every day of your fitness journeyโ€ฆ it adds up! BIG TIME. Let me quickly explainโ€ฆ โ€ขโ€ขโ€ข ๐Ÿ“† If you take 120 calories and add it to your consumption for 365 days (one year) thatโ€™s an additional 43,800 calories per year. Translation? Nutrient-dense pre-workout shake made with vanilla bone broth protein, 1 cup unsweetened almond/coconut milk, 1 tsp unsweetened cacao, 1/2 tsp Astralagus powder, 1/2 cup blueberries, 1/2 banana. Comes in at 350 calories even and 46 grams of protein. _ Been reading a lot about Bone Broth protein and gave these single-packets a try. Overall, tasted pretty good. Bone broth has collagen which is great for healthy skin, nails, and joints. Also helps with immune support, memory, and energy levels. I mostly wanted to take advantage of its benefits on my joints since Iโ€™m heavier and have been pretty active recently. _ The other thing that probably sounds weird is Astragalus. It comes from a root which has been used for thousands of years in Chinese traditional medicine. Its in the family of โ€œadaptogensโ€, and another great way to boost the immune system, its anti-inflammatory, and some studies show it helps prevent diabetes. Combine that with everything I've listed & the joy of a good dessert was well & truly gone.๐Ÿ™…๐Ÿผ - For my online clients dependent on lifestyle we may use one of the calorie splits I outlined yesterday but I encourage the 80/20 so they know that they can be flexible have a dessert they like as long as it's been factored in with their intake โญ๏ธgenerally it means that that they don't ever really feel "deprived " of anything so the urge to binge or have a "cheat meal "isn't really there. As with everything I'm not saying that I wouldn't ever use them for a client, but as general rule for most I wouldn't be a fan. - ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ‘ธ๐ŸผI've also been getting a few messages from people struggling with using "cheat meals" in a healthy way. Iโ€™ve been a ghost ๐Ÿ‘ป on IG lately. Life has just been crazy! But crazy in a good way! My goal is to continue to be active on here and share my journey with others. . Some BIG things have happened over the last week. I have officially marked my first 2 competitions on my 2018 calendar. @officialocb_page in September and @wnbfofficial in October. . With that I have decided to work with @scottstevensonjr and be apart of the @fitnessliberty family. With his experience and knowledge, I know we are going to bring a quality package to the stage next year. . I started a building phase this week. TUESDAY TOAST with all my favorites right here. Didn't have time to sit down with this beauty so I wrapped it TO go ๐Ÿš—today to eat it in the office at my desk! This GF bread ๐Ÿž by @scharglutenfree is amazing, my first slice today and I couldn't even tell it was GF! It was thick, filled with seeds, so tasty and toasted ๐Ÿ‘Œ. . . Have you noticed all the ๐Ÿ‘ปHalloween candy ๐Ÿญ everywhere at work, the temptations are everywhere. I know when I don't start my day with a heathy breakfast with protein, healthy fat, and carbs I am eyeing those candy jars and dipping in more often. I also pack more healthy snacks for the 3 pm slump hour because afternoons are really a difficult time, when hormones and sugar levels dip. Its so easy just to go for a sugar pick me up and grab those candy corns to get an instant energy burst of energy but only to crash a 1/2 hour later and feel crappy ๐Ÿ’ฉ and wanting more! ๐Ÿ˜ฉ. . . Quick, v difficult (trus me) ABS workout ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ™‚ I swear this bench is just death in bench form lol I think it's defo the BEST way to train yo abs tho but also the worst cos death ๐Ÿ’€ But we got this ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป 1๏ธโƒฃreverse crunch (these are the hardest abs exercise ever plz be warned ๐Ÿ˜ญ) 2๏ธโƒฃsit up and plate lift 3๏ธโƒฃhanging knee oblique tucks 4๏ธโƒฃrussian twist whilst moving bod up and down 30 secs per exercise, 4 sets and thas abs done for a week cos ur tummy gonna be on fire ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ but a good kind of fire hehe ๐Ÿค— . Super hyper palatable foods vs nutrient dense. Hyper palatable foods are generally very high in fat, sugar and salt. These ingredients make food irresistible and can often lead to mindless overeating. This comparison shows how you only get 25 chips vs. 300g of baked potato. Have you ever tried to eat 300g of baked potatoe? It wouldnโ€™t be easy!! But 25 chips? Thatโ€™s nothing. Why? Chips are processed and offer nothing in terms of volume. Youโ€™d have to eat a whole bunch and by then you could easily consume 1000 cals. This is why moderation is the key! Itโ€™s ok to have some but choosing nutrient dense foods first, leaving some room for less nutrient dense is the way to approach your nutritional intake. Deprivation is not the answer. Deprive and it will likely lead to overconsumption. However, if hyper palatable foods like chips are triggers and lay the foundation for addictive behaviors, then it is ideal to keep them out of sight. Be smart and be aware. Portion control- track.
