2 years ago you'd catch me swimming with my nuggets in the most ugliest ruffled swimsuit and shorts to hide the bulges and excess rolls. That face you make when you hear yet another person tell you running ruins your gains and “eats” your muscle 😉 # I trained hard for this one for about 3 months; running, cycling, kettlebells and callisthenics. 2:05, not too shabby for a 94kg guy. A week after the run I tested my deadlift, 5kg loss in my PB which I regained in 4 weeks. When quarantine started everybody was complaining that the gyms were shut and that could no longer work out, however where most see negativity I always find a different perspective. With all this extra time on my hands I made the commitment to doing home workouts every single day with nothing but one 10kg dumbbell I purchased a while ago and my body weight. Instead of accepting that I couldn’t stay in shape because of the closure of gyms I made a promise to myself that I will get in better shape, I will train hard, eat well and make the most out of what I have available to me and I have done just that. My focus has been to improve all aspects of fitness from cardio vascular to muscular strength. I have been making my own workouts, exercising legs, upper body and abs. I have been bulking too putting on 1.7kg in the last week alone! I have used this quarantine period to start my fitness journey, and I can already see such a difference since I started these daily workouts. Just because it’s daily doesn’t mean it’s always 100% the thing about doing something even if it’s little everyday is discipline, to do something even if you don’t want to and to turn it into a habit. There is no excuses, type one diabetes is not an excuse, being tired or unmotivated isn’t an excuse and being stuck at home isn’t an excuse, everyone has time it’s just a matter of priorities. I really enjoy working out and will definitely take it very seriously going forward, the change in one month alone is crazy! Should I share more of my fitness journey on this page? Your circumstances are not meant to defeat you but to reveal you. The world around us quickly became "less than ideal." One day I'm training legs at Powerhouse Gym in CT; and the next, my roommate was scrambling to find me resistance bands while I was stuck at work. Moving across the country twice, 12 hour shifts in one of the busiest ERs during a pandemic, unemployment....blah blah. Insert your own circumstances. Life happens. To every single human. It is not going to be easy. You will get knocked down. Unexpected things will get thrown your way. What will reveal you is how you respond to those circumstances. These circumstances have been ROUGH for anyone, let alone any athlete in prep. There have been tears this week, I'll admit. One of my absolute favourite Swedish athletes, table tennis genius Jan-Ove Waldner. Probably the Swede with the best ball-sense of all-time. Unreal. Olympic Champion in Barcelona 1992 and member of the Swedish team that won 5-0 against China in the World Championships in Dortmund 1989. One of the greatest achivements in Swedish sports ever.
