Three months have gone by since we packed up our house in Gisborne VIC and moved across the country to a small, isolated town in the heart of the Pilbara WA. 🏜 This move has taught me just like any kind of change in life, you have to adapt. Slowly and steadily. I've learned so much in just three months that I don't believe I could have learned in my hometown. One main thing is; I can lean on myself and I feel stronger as a person. That going out of your comfort zone will always be the better choice.  By that I mean taking the road that you’ve never taken before and trying something new with open arms. For me, moving away from my normal and loved ones, challenging myself, building and extending on our family circle, investing more in my health and well-being, introducing my own #selfcare routine, learning meditation and breathing and loving my oils and publicly sharing this new passion and all the information and support that comes with EO. ☕️Have you ever been told to come of coffee?☕️ I know I have. Yet, I still enjoy my morning cup almost every single day. And it’s not because I don’t have enough self-discipline. I know I could manage life without coffee, I’ve cut it out a few times and I was totally fine. But I realized that I don’t want to. I’m a coffee lover at my core. Starting my day with a cup of ☕️ with my favorite plant-based milk brings me so much joy that I can’t explain to those who are not coffee lovers at their cores. What I love about integrative nutrition is that it takes into account the whole person, with all aspects of lifestyle. And instead of “forcing” a generic rule onto you (like cutting out coffee because you have endo), it teaches you how to listen to yourself and decide what works FOR YOU (like decreasing it to one cup / day, but keep enjoying that morning cup). Funny story👋🏻⁣ ⁣ My husband’s friend was over last week to help us move our new furniture. Turns out, he loves oils and uses them often for allergies and sometimes anxiety. I miss consistency & I want it back. It’s safe to say I’ve lost consistency in so many parts of my life the last few months. If you know me, you know I’m a planner, I thrive off of planning & consistency. Not being able to plan, have consistency, or somewhat of a routine has been incredibly difficult for me. I’ve also been totally stress eating, drinking wayyy too much coffee ☕️ and have been enjoying 🍷 a bit more than usual 🙈 ( thank you pandemic). Safe to say I’m extremely excited to try these 🌱plant based products everyone’s raving about out! I really miss being able to travel and discover new places 😫! Every time I visit LA I must stop at my favorite, Favorite, FAVORITE grocery store of all time EREWHON! Every time I go, I must get one of their fresh pressed juices that they put in these bottles and I’ll take an empty bottle with me on my flight back. This recipe is inspired by the beautiful @sophia_roe She is an amazing woman who approaches cooking as a way to trust your intuition by learning how to taste, feel, smell, and think about food. I love many chefs but Sophia is one of a kind, I’ve learned so much from her incredible wisdom about wellness and life, how it’s more than just surface level, we have to go much deeper within ourselves to pursue true happiness. She thought me how to love myself and confront inner issues that we all tend to hideaway. Loving yourself unconditionally is wellness. On her IGTV, she does these amazing series breaking down different ways to utilize everyday ingredients and dishes. One of them was about pesto, pesto is incredible, a simple sauce that is so delicious with pretty much anything. It’s perfectly Italian, basil, garlic, pine nuts, olive oil, and parmesan cheese. Sophia talks about how pesto isn’t just limited to those ingredients, pesto can be ANYTHING. Why not make it Asian style, this is an amazing topping, sauce, or just have it on top of rice and noodles by itself is heaven. Motivational Monday. Who inspires you today? They are so many people that I find inspirational but someone that comes very easily to my mind is Joanne O’ Riordan. Joanne wrote a piece for the Irish Independent Weekend magazine on Saturday. Ever since I saw her on the” Late Late show” a few years ago and also her documentary that was featured on RTE “No Limbs no Limits” Joanne has stood out for me as inspiring young woman @joanneor. Joanne reminds us all to see ability not disability, to embrace who we uniquely are, to dream big and set no limits on what you can achieve. Last week I noticed I had a dip in energy (we are all human and have good & bad days) but having read Joanne’s piece I feel motivated and pumped up to do better in all aspects of my life this week. Hello. ;) I don't know about you, but this lockdown has forced me to heal my relationship with food. We have always had a love/ hate thing going on; and by taking time off , my body is starting to understand itself better. This was about a month ago. I decided to spend the lockdown destressing without the thought of food. Although this is not something everyone would recommend; my body knew that if I allow myself to fast- take a break from working my body while not working out-it would balance itself out. Something I have always wished for. Body / mind synchronicity. I'm totally detatched from an emotional relationship with food. Moving five hours away from my small hometown to play soccer at Kutztown University, not knowing a single person; moving four and half hours away from my small hometown four years later to live with my future husband, only knowing him. Being diagnosed with cancer in 2016, not having any idea that the next year would be spent getting surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, or that the next 4 years would be spent wondering if each quarterly blood draw would result in a “you’re good!” or a “I think we should run some more tests”. Tearing my ACL in 2018, not knowing that 2 years later I would still be dealing with post-injury and post-surgery complications, and now, in 2020, a challenge that none of us could have predicted, but one that has affected each and every one of us in some way. During each of those events, adapting to change is key in not giving up. Each period of change has meant losing something; but more importantly, it’s meant gaining so much more. It’s meant focusing energy on building the “new me” rather than fighting for the “old me”. As we remember all of those who faced the ultimate challenge and sacrifice of fighting for our freedom this Memorial Day, remember that life is constantly throwing obstacles in our path.
