My Mom called to ask how she could find out her animal guide. I didn’t know the answer and I don’t think there is only one way. I usually just start to see (in pictures, in dreams, repetitive in nature) particular animals, look up their meaning and violà it’s a match.➰
They come and go, but I must believe my forever guide is a turtle 🐢 Why? Well, for starters it is tattooed on my arm and the symbolic resonance is so me.
The latest messenger is a Lion🦁-the B bit my hand off last night in a dream and was hovering over me as I hid under a pile of snow. She told me with her eyes she wouldn’t eat all of me, she needed me to follow her!
This animal in the picture may be a panther disguised as a lion or a hybrid. Panthers are real rad too though!
I’m open to dream interpretations☁️👇🏻
Who is guiding you these days? 🕊

Peacock is one of my favorite animal totems, and I was lucky enough to encounter this handsome fella at the @chateaustemichelle winery recently. Use imperfections to your advantage.
Peacock says to be mindful and not step into pride and arrogance, instead to step into your wisdom with grace and dignity. #animaltotemfriday The giraffe! Gentle giraffe, with its long neck reaching into the heavens symbolizes the ability to see the future and obtain things that would normally be out of reach. When life is chaotic, Giraffe reminds you to keep your head up and avoid getting entangled in needless arguments.
Towering up to 18 feet tall, the Giraffe's only vulnerability is the need to put their head down to drink water. Thankfully this creature can withstand the lack of water for upwards of a month. In this aspect Giraffe's message is one of using our resources wisely and also keeping our feet on the ground without losing our Higher perspective and guidance.
While a Giraffe may not look threatening, one swift kick can kill a predator. This is the way in which it protects its calves. This aptitude gives Giraffe the meanings of safety and strength in times of need. (From Whatismyspiritanimal.com) #WhatsYourAnimalTotem?

#animaltotemfriday The Octopus, representing: Mystery, intelligence and strategy. Octopus is always on the move! Mystery surrounds its home and habitat. But though in constant motion, it remains at the bottom of the sea. This means that it is always grounded. If Octopus is your totem animal, it indicates you live in an environment that is in constant motion, just like the waters of the ocean, and have the ability to not get caught up or carried away. Octopus helps you to keep your cool and remain fully aware of the circumstances around you.
As the Octopus does not have a spine, it has flexibility to extricate itself from very tight spots. Octopus teaches us how to be flexible enough to get out of tricky situations! Octopus changes its colors to merge into different environments, giving it the ability to avoid conflict and adjust easily to new settings.
The spiraling motion created by the Octopus's tentacles has been interpreted in ancient cultures as a sign of evolution. The most noticeable characteristic of Porcupine is their quills--around 30,000! When under attack, the quills stand up, guarding the Porcupine. Once lodged in its prey, they are extremely difficult to remove. The quills are also filled with air making the Porcupine buoyant in water. This reflects the ability of the Porcupine to swim and move through emotional waters.
Porcupines are happiest hanging out in a hollow long, and won't attack unless provoked...or if you call them a hedgehog (which they are not!) #WhatsYourAnimalTotem?

#animaltotemfriday Snake. 🐍 offers healing and transformation. It's ability to glide into the darkness through crevices in the rocks connects it to the Under World, and the realm of death. It is the totem animal of the Earth Goddess, and also the Sky Father/Sun God, and represents our ability to die and be reborn. The energy that enables us to be born on earth is sexual energy, but this also necessitates our death.
Befriending 🐍power will enable you to journey through life gracefully and magically, shedding your old life easily when the time comes - whether that old life be of the physical body or a stage in this present incarnation.

#animaltotemfriday The Dog, representing: Loyalty, friendship, protection and unconditional love. Those who have Dog as a power animal are usually involved in helping others or serving humanity in some way, and have a deep understanding and compassion of human shortcomings. Dog serves selflessly, never asking for praise or anything in return. Dog is sensitive and intelligent. A dogs behavior often mirrors the personality of the owner, providing a mirror to our true selves. From Dog we can learn the meaning of forgiveness and unconditional love.
Psychic gifts have been associated with Dog, because of their talent for picking up on subtle energy frequencies generally unknown to man. For example, it is not unusual for dogs to feel an earthquake before it happens, and lead us to safety. They truly are our best friends! 🐶🐶🐶(Drawing by @lornascobie). #WhatsYourAnimalTotem?
#animaltotemfriday The Walrus. This sexy beast is at home in three oceans. Gregarious and social, they are slow moving and clumsy on land, but move effortlessly in water. Walrus can teach us to ride the emotional waves inevitable in life, and to pick our battles wisely when in defensive mode. Walrus is said to be the keeper of knowledge, and reminds us to take time to mediate and go within, to find the answers we are seeking.
Walrus teaches us that every person has his purpose in life, and to not underestimate their ability, no matter how big or small. Finally, and most importantly, Walrus tells us that as long as we are close to the people we love, we will always be safe and warm. #WhatsYourAnimalTotem?
#animaltotemfriday The Seagull. I encountered more than a few of these characters while on Orcas Island, so I was intrigued to see what their message is... "If seagull has flown across your path, its time to take a different perspective on things. Step back from everything that you are currently dealing with and look at it from a different angle. Your solution lies in changing your attitude towards the problem at hand. Soar above the drama and look through your own emotional boundaries so that you can find creative new ways to move forward. There is a clue to using the long hidden resources you already have.
If Seagull is your animal totem, you know an opportunity when you see one and stick with it until it has been fulfilled. You also have a knack for turning the most unlikely things to your advantage. You are also very productive and creative in using limited resources to their full advantage.
With Seagull as your totem, you love to congregate in large crowds and have no trouble defying your space. You are fearless and will often look people in the eye and challenge them to find a better way to resolve issues. Your ingenuity is constantly apparent to others and you are always willing to challenge your comfort zones. You have a healthy respect for others but they must earn your respect. #WhatsYourAnimalTotem? at Orcas, Washington
#animaltotemfriday Yetis and Abominable Snowmen are earth-water creatures, sacred to the northwest. Able to withstand extremely low temperatures, these cave-dwelling creatures prefer to be alone, and tend to be rather cross when they are not. ☃️☃️☃️Those with yetis as totems, while possessing deep feelings, may appear snippy and hostile towards others. Great in bed on those chilly winter nights though. (Discordant Totems/Spiral Nature). #WhatsYourAnimalTotem? ❄️❄️❄️ at Oysterdome Lookout
#animaltotemfriday The fox! One of my favorite spirit animals. Fox is amongst the most uniquely skilled and ingenious animals of nature. Being a night creature, fox is often imbued with supernatural powers. Foxes are usually seen at dusk and dawn--this is the time, when the world of magic and our every day realities cross paths.
Foxes live on the edges of forests and open lands, the border areas. As fox is an animal of between times and places, it can be a guide into the faerie realm. Fox has a long past of magic and cunning associated with it. It can move in and out of circumstances restoring order, or causing confusion, depending on the occasion.
Fox's wisdom includes: Shape shifting, cleverness, cunning, stealth, camouflage, courage, invisibility, persistence, reliable friend. Fox can also teach us to control our auras so we are more able to live in harmony with the world and others. 🦊🦊🦊 #WhatsYourAnimalTotem?
#animaltotemfriday The Raven, representing: Magic, secrets, healing and self-knowledge. Ravens are master magicians and represent transformational energy, revealing to us how to rid ourselves of our inner fears. Raven will show you how to go within, into the dark areas and then illuminate them, making you "sparkle" and bringing out your true self. Inner conflicts should then be resolved, however long buried--this is the deepest of healing.
If Raven has flown into your life, then magic and healing abound. Raven awakens the energy of magic, linking it to our will and intention. With Raven, you have the ability to make great changes in your life--now is the time when you can take the thought and make it reality.
Raven usually stays as long as needed to help transmute karma, returning you to the light. They will lead you into the discovery of your multidimensional self and reunite you with the secrets of a multidimensional universe. #animaltotemfriday The Swan, representing: Love, beauty and the soul. This animal totem has a special place in my heart, as it seems to appear when I'm having a moment of doubt, not trusting life and the ways of the Divine.
Recently my older sister came back from a trip to Scotland and brought me a gift--the silver Swan pendant pictured here. My sister is not into "spiritual stuff" or animal totems, she picked out the Swan for me because she "just" had a feeling it was mine to have. Of course--I took it as a sign! I now wear it constantly, as a reminder that the Divine is always with me.
Here's what the Druid Animal Oracle Deck says: "Swan brings us the qualities of soul--of love and depth, grace and beauty. Swan is also the bird of the threshold, and represents that part of us which can travel into the Otherworld. Drawing this card may indicate that you will receive inspiration from the Otherworld, or that Love is entering your life." #WhatsYourAnimalTotem?
#animaltotemfriday The Bear, representing: Strength, introspection and knowledge. Some anthropologists say that bear was one of the first animals to be revered by humans. Celtic traditions holds that Primal Mother is the Bear Goddess Artio, a fierce protector. Native American beliefs state that the power of the Great Spirit lives through bear, therefore making them highly sought after guides due to their fearless medicine.
If you have Bear as power animal, you will most probably be quieter during the winter months, which is similar to the bear hibernating during the winter. But in spring you must awaken to seek whatever opportunities arise. Be fearless in standing up for what you believe in. You are also encouraged to use your abilities as a natural healer.
Bear is linked to trees, considered to be natural antennas joining heaven and earth. Bear also has ties to the seven color rays of Universal Light, as well as Lunar associations, linking the conscious with the subconscious. #WhatsYourAnimalTotem? Pic from the always amazing @heyheyitsmaggiemay 🐻🐻🐻
#animaltotemfriday The Peacock, representing: beauty, wholeness and transformation. In shamanic rituals, peacock feathers are used as an aid in healing, as they are believed to have protective powers. If Peacock is your power animal, you are generally highly sensitive, and proper maintenance of your energy field is a must. Peacock is often a totem for healers, but no matter the profession, this spirit animal portends that you will be a leader in your chosen field.
Peacock is closely associated with the mythological Phoenix, which rises, reborn, from the ashes of its funeral pyre. The eyes of the peacocks feathers represent their ability to see into the past, present and future. Peacock teaches us to value all aspects of the circle of life, to have faith, and know that when one cycle has passed, another will soon be reborn. #WhatsYourAnimalTotem? 🐝🐵🐷🐸🐙🦁🐰🐯🐢🐍🐠🐘🐳
#animaltotemfriday The Rabbit! Rabbit is interpreted in different ways in different cultures. In China, it is one of the astrological signs linked to good fortune and the moon. People born under Rabbits sign are believed to be artistic and sensitive. 🐇🐇🐇 In some Native American traditions Rabbit is known as the Fear Caller, because it projects its fear of those wishing to eat it, and thereby attracting the very predators it fears! On the other hand/paw, Rabbit can also attract love, abundance and good health into our lives.
Rabbit indicates a time to examine your fears and what you are calling to you. This is a time to rid yourself of negative energies and feelings, and focus on prosperity and good fortune. Rabbit is a quick thinker, and highly intuitive, offering tools to overcome most challenges. Gentle Rabbit's sensitive and loving heart, will show us the way! #WhatsYourAnimalTotem?
#animaltotemfriday The Spider, representing: mystery, power and growth. The spider is a symbol of feminine energy and creativity. In many traditions, she is Grandmother, Goddess, the spirit of creation itself. 🕷🕷🕷 Spiders are characterized by the skilled weaving of intricate webs and patience in awaiting their prey. By affinity with the spider, you may have qualities of high receptivity and creativity. Spider helps us to tune into life's ebbs and flows, and ingeniously weave every step of our destiny.
If spider has caught you in her web, then look with-in and with-out to see the web you are weaving. Having the power to weave your own web, means you have the power to create a positive and happy destiny. 🕷🕷🕷
Most people will clear away a spider Webb, thinking it is dirty. A child witnessing a spider spin her web, may be mesmerized by the fragile, magical home it is weaving. It all depends on the eye of the beholder. #WhatsYourAnimalTotem?

#animaltotemfriday Sophie Marie...ah, Dog, representing: Guidance, protection and loyalty. Dog is a loyal companion on the journey of life. A symbol of undying compassion and love, people with a Dog Totem are usually helping others or serving humanity in some way. Dog medicine embodies the loving gentleness of best friend and the fierce energy of protector.
A Dog totem is a great spirit booster and a reminder to always stay true to yourself. Study the quality of dog that has entered your life: is it a hunter, a protector, a companion, playful? Each of these qualities will give you insight into the qualities most needed for your own life.
I would describe Sophie Marie as both a fierce protector, and total love bug...❤️🐶❤️ #WhatsYourAnimalTotem?
#animaltotemfriday Pig 🐷. Don't laugh...this little piggy is a powerful animal totem! The Pig is a strong symbol for luck, especially of a financial nature. In feng shui Pig amulets are often placed in the home to attract money and success. Perhaps the very origins of the Piggy Bank? #animaltotemfriday The Horse, representing: travel, power and overcoming obstacles. The horse is a symbol of the wind, a totem of freedom and new journeys. If horse has shown up in your life it may be time to consider if you're feeling too constricted, and whether you need to move on, or allow others to move on.
Horse can teach you how to ride in new directions and awaken your desire for freedom and power. Discovery is a part of horse's path and it does not shy away from obstacles, instead learning and growing from them. Horse brings new awareness to respecting the environment, and others. It is a symbol of unified family and humanity, knowing that every human being must follow their own unique pathway to empowerment. Horse is a most powerful companion on the road to fulfilling your destiny. 🐴🐴🐴 #WhatsYourAnimalTotem?
#animaltotemfriday Squirrel. This animal shows us the importance of being prepared. Few animals are as busy as a squirrel during the autumn season! They gather enough nuts and seeds to get through the winter and bury them. As Squirrel prepares for the change in seasons, it only gathers what it requires, teaching us the importance of letting go/getting rid of unnecessary objects that clutter our space, as well as negative emotions and beliefs.
As busy as squirrel is, it always has time for play! Between gathering, they often leap at each other and roll around in the leaves. Squirrel also seems to enjoy simply resting on a tree branch. A reminder that there is a time for everything in life and to find a balance between work and play, busyness and contemplation. Squirrel energy encourages us to be flexible when dealing with change, and not waste our energy on worry or over-thinking. #WhatsYourAnimalTotem? 🍁🍂🐿
#animaltotemfriday The Shark! Shark is a powerful, extremely driven animal totem. Shark shows us that there are abundant opportunities in life, but that we must be willing to go after and create them. By exploring the world around us, and the emotions within ourselves, we will be shown new ways to achieve our goals. Shark reminds us that the Universe can be much larger--if we stop waiting and begin to stir up the energies. Shark is creative motion.
If Shark is your animal totem, you love challenges, and even seek them out! You like careers that are fast moving and you bring a natural exuberance to all that you do. You have a unique vision of the world, and are fearless in your choices. If Shark has swum into your life, it is an indication there is a opportunity before you that you need to take advantage of. Don't hesitate! Shark says: Go for it! #WhatsYourAnimalTotem?
#animaltotemfriday Opossum. This guy has been showing up everywhere in my life--in my backyard, in my sister's attic...so here's what the Medicine Cards say: "Opossum medicine uses a great deal of strategy. If all else fails, it plays dead. It has the ability to fight with its claws and teeth, but rarely uses this form of protection. Instead it uses the supreme strategy of diversion.
If Opossum has turned up, you are being asked to use strategy in some present situation. Rely on your instincts for the best way out of a tight corner. If you have to pretend to be apathetic or unafraid, do it! Often, if you refuse to struggle, your taunter will see no further fun in the game. Warriors have used Opossum medicine for centuries to outsmart their enemies!" #WhatsYourAnimalTotem?
#animaltotemfriday I'm often asked: How do I find my animal totem? It is usually an intuitive process--you just know it. You feel an affinity, a connection, a sense of wonder. Or you may find that your animal totem or spirit shows up in your life at defining moments--offering a message, sign, recognition or lesson.
Your spirit animal may also change with time, as you grow and evolve. For example, since I was young, I've felt a connection to the Owl. Recently, Fox energy has come into my life. I also feel a connection to Swan and Moth.
Each animal totem symbolizes something different, like the owl represents intuition, wisdom and sacred knowledge. The swan symbolizes grace and transformation. If you don't know your animal totem, just be open and ask that they be revealed to you. Then watch and listen.
What is your animal totem? I'd love to hear! 🐢🐍🐙🐸🐰🐼🦄?
#animaltotemfriday The Toad! The appearance of Toad heralds a successful time in your life. Toads are associated with money and luck, especially changing your luck from bad to good.
If Toad is your animal totem, you have the ability to see things and people clearly. Toad often represents the need for self-examination. Ask yourself these questions: Am I hesitating to act and missing opportunities? Am I allowing fear to stop my progress? Have I forgotten my inner strength?
Toad is also a symbol of transformation. Like the fairytale where the Princess kisses the toad and he transforms into a prince, Toad is a reminder of the transformative powers of faith and the belief in something greater. 👸🏼💋🐸 #WhatsYourAnimalTotem?
#animaltotemfriday The Owl! The owl sees in the dark: As a spirit animal, the owl guides you to see beyond the veil of deception and illusion; it helps to see what's hidden. Owl also symbolizes the ability to cut through illusions and see the real meanings of someone's actions or state of mind. 👀
When the owl is one of your power animals, you have a strong intuition and can access information that is hidden to most. Owl encourages you to see beyond deceiving appearances into the true reality of a situation. 🔮
The owl is a strong guide for discernment and making decisions. Call on owl when you have to assess a situation or are going through confusing times. #WhatsYourAnimalTotem?
#animaltotemfriday The Crow. Crow is a sign of change, and that what you've been working towards is coming to fruition. Crow offers clear messages and guidance as to what your next steps are. Pay attention to your thoughts and to the omens around you. The messages are clearer now than ever before!
Crow could also be telling you that you're spreading yourself a little bit thin. It's time to step back, reassess where you are and take stock of your own dreams and aspirations. Being clear about your desires is key in manifesting your intentions.
If crow is your animal totem, you have a great deal of personal integrity. You work hard at being mindful of your opinions and actions. #animaltotemfriday The Moth. I spied this guy on my curtain the other day. At first I thought...ohhhh a butterfly! Then on closer inspection, realized it was a wee moth. So here you go... Zebras black and white stripes offer protective camouflage to the herd, but it's patterns are individual to each--as unique as our fingerprints! #animaltotemfriday Sophie Marie surprised me yesterday, bringing a dead mole in from the yard, and promptly depositing it in my bed! So I had to check out the meaning of mole energy... The mole is a guide to the Underworld, to hidden treasures and mysterious places. It is a digger, and has adapted to life underground.
Mole as an animal totem represents heightened senses, especially touch. On one hand this may stimulate a heightened sense of pleasure, but also making one extra sensitive to the world around them. Mole's sensitivity can make one standoffish and want to retreat from others.
If mole has appeared to you, this is a time to trust your senses, even if what your feeling doesn't make sense to your intellectual mind. Ultimately, the truth will reveal itself. Moles are great at creating their own ventilation systems, and those with mole energy need to get plenty of fresh air. #WhatsYourAnimalTotem? Illustration by the talented @lornascobie.
Happy Friday the thirteenth! Did you know in ancient times, this day was considered a sacred day? A day of spirit and power? #animaltotemfriday Pegasus, the Flying Horse. Pegasus comes to us from Greek mythology, and was the guard of sacred places. He is the inspirer of rising above difficulties and teaches us the importance of having quick and agile wisdom, as well as humility and knowing ones boundaries. In modern times, Pegasus is seen as a symbol for immortality of the soul, and as the protector that guards the spirit into the astral plane.

Happy New Moon in Taurus! #animaltotemfriday The Bull, representing: Wealth, potency and beneficence. The bull is a symbol of wealth, and it is auspicious to draw this card when considering financial matters. But, remember that the ancient ones understood that true wealth is found in the heart and soul first, and only then in the material world.
The bull represents fertility, potency, abundance and prosperity, things that can sometimes take awhile to achieve. If your goals require you to work steadfastly in trying circumstances for a considerable period of time, the bull will help you to succeed without becoming drained or depressed. #animaltotemfriday The Heron. Happy Earth Day! My friend Heather @warrior_pigeon and I were walking around Green Lake (Seattle) yesterday and spied this beautiful blue heron. As a animal totem, the heron represents: Grace, patience, dignity and emotional balance. Heron comes into our lives to teach us the power of precision, helping us to make quick decisions and conquer effective time management. The heron is a graceful bird and those with this animal totem make excellent dancers, actors, and martial and performance artists. Heron people often have strong personalities, which helps to make up for their shyness around large crowds.
If you feel a connection with the heron, it could mean a time where you are seeking more balance in your life. Heron medicine can help you regulate your feelings and emotions in a healthy way. Heron teaches us the value of watching and waiting, in order to get what we need. Patience is this bird's strong suit, active patience (vs passive) allowing us to grab opportunity when the time is right. Heron is also a powerful guide in shamanic journeying or exploring the realm of water magic. Thanks Heather for the great pic! #WhatsYourAnimalTotem? at Green Lake, Seattle, WA
#animaltotemfriday The Hedgehog! Don't let the Hedgehog's small size and adorable face fool you--it is a powerful and purposeful creature and spirit totem, worthy of respect. This animal knows how to take care of itself and does so with unmatched style and finesse. No matter what danger it finds itself exposed to, the Hedgehog is a spirit guide that knows how to act quickly and prevail, curling into a ball while exposing its lethal quills to its attacker.
Hedgehogs are calm, cool and collected in the face of adversity and teach us that we are capable of doing the same, no matter how small, powerless and insignificant we may feel. If the Hedgehog is your animal totem, you love to follow your own natural curiosities and explore. Although you are gentle, you are also confident in your ability to protect yourself from harm. #WhatsYourAnimalTotem? (Pic from @ruey_soho)

Coyote is sacred. In the folly of his acts we see our own foolishness. Coyote reminds us to not take life too seriously, to find humor in the Divine Mystery and to be willing to laugh at ourselves. He may also prove to be a warning: Is someone trying to trick you? Suffice to say, Coyote is not a recommended business partner or lover!! Happy April Fool's Day--make friends with this wily trickster and let the foolish magic begin. 🃏🃏🃏 #WhatsYourAnimalTotem
