. . Bergerac is a wine region located in southwest France. To the immediate west of Bergerac is the legendary wine region of Bordeaux. The most prominent wineries of Bergerac can be found in the Perigord region, which is revered for its culinary traditions such as black truffles and foie gras. . . Unlike wines from other regions of France, wines from Bergerac are rarely exported abroad. Only 15% of the region’s wines are exported, and those are primarily sent to just a handful of countries: Great Britain, Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands. . . #valpolicella is basically the same wine as #amarone in that it’s generally made from some combination of dried #corvina #rondinella #molinara #corvinagrossa and a few other blending grapes. This wine from the #Veneto region of #Italy is concentrated, rich and leathery. Ripe plums, dark cherries and chocolate round out this bold wine with just a bit less power than its older cousin. @DalFornoRomano is something close to the king of this genre and the wines sell for big money. Why? This particular wine comes from hand-picked grapes that spend about 6 weeks drying out and shrinking to produce less wine than if vinified immediately. Then two months in stainless steel vats followed by two years in new expensive oak barrels then 36 months in bottle before being released for sale. That takes money. The result is a luxurious bottle of wine that I personally can only drink on special occasions. Define that how you will. Expect to pay about $100 for a current release of this label at a store that carries wines distributed by @wilsondaniels. Like Italian Wine Merchants just east of Union Square on 16th St.

🔎The name Valpolicella is a mix of Latin & Greek, meaning “The valley of many cellars”☝️ Corvina, (Corvina Veronese) the dominant grape🍇 of Valpolicella & Bardolino, creating red fruity wines with sour cherry🍒 note on the finish🥰 #valpolicella #masi #valpolicellavineyards #vineyards #venetowine #corvina #corvinavineyards

Of course when I found out about @natwinecentre I had to make a stop and I got there just in time for the 11 am tour which wound up being a private tour. Andrew, my guide, not too bad to look at and I could listen to that voice all day lol. Too bad he's married. Anyway lol. Did my first #winetasting here, interesting tour, I had no idea #australia has 65 #wineregions and luckily I stopped at a few on my #trip #tripofalifetime #wine #aussiesofinstagram #livingmybestlife

What's so special about cabernet franc? 🍷Here are 5 facts you probably didn't know about this red wine variety known for its sweeter notes and aromas of tobacco and spice. ✦ It's considered a “parent” wine of cabernet sauvignon and not the other way around ✦ It's often blended with merlot and cabernet sauvignon but can also be found as a single varietal- most commonly in France ✦ Decanting cab franc is often recommended and will help tone down the wine's natural spiciness ✦ It's one of the twenty most commonly planted grape varieties in the world ✦ It's believed that cab franc was developed in the southwest of France in the 17th century, when Cardinal Richelieu transported cuttings of the vine to the Loire Valley. Cardinal Richelieu’s death occurred on December 4th, which is why people choose today to celebrate the beloved wine variety that is Cab Franc! #CabernetFrancDay #CabFrancDay #InternationalCabFrancDay . . . . . #WineBlogger #WineMoments #WinesDay #WineStyle #Wineo #JustWine #Wine #WineLover #WineLovers #WineTime #WineOclock #Winestagram #WineTips #InstaWine #WineRegions #WineGeek #WineBottle #WineBlog #WinesOfInstagram #WineLove #WineBlogger #WineTasting #Wines #WineLife #Wine🍷 #cabfranc #cabernetfranc

When is the best time to visit the wine region of northern Spain? Any time is suitable, but one of the best is in Autumn for the grape harvest from October to November. #spaingastronomy #wineregions #spainwines #spainwinery #rioja #navarra #riojawine #navarrawine #northernspaingastronomy #northernspaintravel

Advent countdown: Kata Zsirai is one of the young generation of winemakers in Hungary, and each time we visit the Zsirai winery, we are more and more impressed by her wines. We especially loved her single vineyard wine from the Betsek vineyard and the last time we opened a bottle, we enjoyed it so much, that we simply had to open another! Who is a workhorse🐎 of Italy, producing world-class wines of any style?🤔🏋🏻‍♂️ ⠀ ⚠️Veneto with its diverse microclimates & wine styles is increasingly important wine region in northeastern part of Italy 🇮🇹 ⠀ ❌A hilly area in the west known as Valpolicella with its unique climate is a spot for distinct wines, which have found favor across the globe 🌎 From soft Valpolicella DOC to the rich & complex Amarone🍷, made predominantly from Corvina 🍇, there is style for everyone 🤩 ⠀ ❌Lugana wine made in the south of Garda lake is my personal favorite🤩 (even to start morning with☺️), versatile, easy drinking white, made of Trebbiano di Lugana 🍇, with delicate floral🌸 & almond notes 🥰 ⠀ ❌Soave, one of Italy’s most famous whites🏆, comes from a hilly area with cooler conditions between Verona & Vicenza. A classy wine with notes of lemon peel🍋 & almond & it’s hero - Garganega grape 🍇 ⠀ ❌Conegliano-Valdobbiadene wine area, northeast of Treviso in the Alpine foothills, is the origin of Italy’s favorite sparkling wine Prosecco🥂, made of Glera grape 🍇 ⠀ #venetowine #venetoregion #venetoguide #winesofveneto #italianwine #wineregions #wineroutes #venicewine #proseccoregion #proseccodocg #valpolicella #amaronedellavalpolicella #luganawine #soavewine

Thankful to be recovering from this cold. 🤒 I feel normal but the congestion just lingers...WHY ME!? At least I can smell this steal of a wine. ⁣ ⁣ It's #localwine and from right here in #montgomerycountymd! The @smvwinery #chardonnay is bomb. ⁣ ⁣ Made in an unoaked style, it still has that chardonnay richness without the 🥞 butter. I'm having that pancake emoji because it has butter on top and there is no butter emoji. Enough about that! ⁣ ⁣ The nose is youthful with tons of primary fruit like 🍈 honeydew, 🍐 pear, yellow apple, honeysuckle, 🍑 peach, and apricot. The palate has the same flavors with a nice medium intensity and medium, round body. ⁣ ⁣ Try this wine for $15! You won't find anything like it at this price! Follow me @thecorkqueer and tell me this: What is your favorite style of chardonnay?
