OVERHEAD MOBILITY | Here's a quick drill I did as part of my warm up today before some overhead squats I probably could have done with a smaller ball, but this was the best option available! Restrictions in thoracic, shoulder or ankle mobility lead to difficulty getting into the overhead squat position For me personally, ankle mobility has never been a problem - good ol' hypermobility; but thoracic mobility has been a work in progress I'm using a 5kg plate here. Maybe you want to use something less or more, depending on what it feels like The secret to most things is to listen to your body and feel things out Most people can't get into an overhead squat position from the get-go; and depending on what your goals are, maybe you won't even have to But if you ever want to be any good at Olympic lifting, mobility is key Have you tried this stretch before? #CoachPennie

This can put additional pressure on muscles that stabilise the spine and pelvis, such as your iliopsoas (inner hip muscle), and vertebra disks. There are a few causes of the Butt Wink. Poor Ankle Mobility, Poor Technique, Poor Core Stability Control Poor Hip Range of Movement . If youโ€™re currently experiencing Lower Back Pain due to posterior tilt of the pelvis I would suggest the following: Assessing your ankle/calf mobility, Seek out a great trainer to fix your technique. Check your Core Stability by performing a BodyWeight Squat and a Squat holding a weight in front of you. If your squat with the weight are considerably better, you have an issue with engaging your core to stabilise the body in the squat. Work to increase both External and Internal Hip Range. . The purpose in teaching people about the true nature of #functionalfitness is so that we can create better and faster solutions. A great example is this #DVRT series that helps in building better shoulders. So many people think building better shoulders is accomplished best by isolating the movement of the shoulder. Sadly, that isnโ€™t how the shoulder works and neglects the role the #core and #glutes have in their relationship with the shoulder. โ€ฆ. Raise your hand if youโ€™ve seen the meme everywhere about Santa and essential oils both being make believe? ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ™„ . No one likes being the butt of jokes. But hey, in this case, Iโ€™m cool with it. . . Cause while I could have spent the afternoon at urgent care yesterday for an ear infection Iโ€™ve been ignoring several days โ€” instead I rolled my handy dandy ear roller on about once an hour and today Iโ€™m pain free. And $60 saved on that exam fee to tell me what my otoscope at home already had. That brings our number of ear infections helped without antibiotics up to..... maybe thirteen in 5 years? Iโ€™m loosing count. Same with the strep my kids had. The antidepressants I no longer take. The cold sores dried up. The sore throats soothed. The fever viruses contained to 24 hrs. The lack of flu in my house. But go ahead, laugh if you want. Iโ€™m cool with my โ€˜placebosโ€™ that arenโ€™t harming me or my kids. . . Long term studies have shown the dangers of many medications, but essential oils have been used by magic believing mamaโ€™s since before Bible times without side effects. But thatโ€™s neither here nor there I guess... carry on. ๐Ÿธโ˜•๏ธ

Happy Thursday! Arms and #abs day yesterday. Decided to keep my abs routine the same as last cycle. Need to keep working on core stabilization which is why Iโ€™m keeping the #pallofpress in this circuit. I might try different variations of the pallof press to change things up ๐Ÿ‘. I also love #cableabscrunch In looking at this clip, I see I have some form corrections to make. I need to pull my shoulders more into my chest and not use so much momentum on the pull. Will try lighter weights next time. My last move in this circuit is the captains chair knee raises (not shown). Each move is done with 15 reps for 3 sets. I only do this #abcircuit 1x per week because I work my core in so many of the other lifts I do on the other days. I didn't realize how absent I've been on my updates!! When you have so much going on at home..i.e. painting, remodeling, updating your home, you tend to forget about everything else EVEN THE GYM! EEK! I forgot how exciting being a homeowner is! Don't get me wrong I've had many headaches with my house too ๐Ÿ˜‚ Training had been coming along, not as exciting as any meet prep but still trying to get my lifts in and reminding myself that missing some of my lifts is only temporary! I'm tooting my own horn today as I stand 24lbs down! I'll remind you that this wasn't an overnight process...my weight loss had occurred slowly and was very progressive..at almost 1.5-2lbs per month! 1.5-2lbs per month! That may seem slow in the grand scheme if things but here I am almost 14mths later maintaining most of my strength AND maintaining my weight loss pretty effortlessly! The best thing about this is that I didnt intend on trying to lose anything! I just became more focused on listening to my body, keeping my training consistent and focusing a bit more on my recovery โ˜บ๏ธ Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about anything!! Haha that would be funny if I took my 1 rep max from last year, added 10lbs, and repped it 9 times....haha jk.....unless?!?! โ€ข Yea girl beat up her old weight and added a new one!! 115 for 6ish (prolly 4 without spot) is he most Iโ€™ve ever benched and wow it felt good! โ€ข Started off with 95 and it felt like a warmup so I added 105 and thought โ€œokay Iโ€™ll prolly get 4 and then just bust a nut to get to sixโ€ lo and behold I got 9! โ€ข So I added weight and went to town. Did you know that you can do more than you think you can? That you can hold YOURSELF back? โ€ข Excited to get more plates on one of my weakest lifts and to get work on getting my arch form down. Any tips for keeping the butt clenched but also down on the bench??
