Here’s 4 tips to build the delts like I did. save and tag a friend to fry your delts this week 💪🏽 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Lateral raises and face pulls aren’t going to give you progress - intention, recruitment, and frequency will. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ -For one period of time I worked delts 3 times week, you gotta work it to grow it.. however, overtraining will hinder you. There is a difference. -I focus on hitting ALL 3 parts of the delt with intention, not just focusing on swinging stupid weight around. -Find the range of motion that works for you, tuck your pinkys in, rotate your elbows out, etc. Everyones body mechanics are different. -Add in some drop sets, make those last sets of laterals with 5 pounds look like 500s. Hamstring walkouts are a great way to focus on strengthening these muscles & preventing injury. . . . . 1. Begin by lying on your back flat on the ground. Bend both knees close to your bum & lift your hip up into a bridge position. 2. While maintaining that bridge position (keep your abdominals tight!), walk on your heels slowly away from your bum as far as you can until your knees are almost fully extended on the ground. Tag a friend who needs motivation 😍😋 All those recesses spent on the monkey bars paid off. 🐒 . But for real, these moves don’t just come overnight. However, anyone can learn and should challenge themselves to try! One of the most commonly asked questions I get is how to get good at pull-ups. If you’re someone who is skeptical to try bar work because you’re afraid to fail, listen up! . Pull-ups used to feel impossible for me! I wouldn’t practice them because I didn’t like being bad at them and I hate feeling weak! 👎 . Then I discovered the assisted pull up machine and started practicing them. I’d do 50 assisted pull-ups before every workout. Pretty soon I could get 10 unassisted and 40 assisted. Then 20 unassisted and 30 assisted. Within a few months I was doing 50 unassisted and 50 assisted immediately after! My point is that I worked and worked for those pull ups every single workout until they became easy! If you don’t have an assisted pull up machine at your gym, use a long band around the bar or grab a buddy and have him/her hold your knees! . Same goes for toes to bar! Start with lying leg lifts on a bench. Then work your way to hanging knee raises. Then try toes to bar. It’s a process and it takes consistent practice! 🙌 . Our bodies are incredible things and can be trained to do just about anything if we really work for it! Are you willing to put in the work? 💪 . I challenge you to start your next workout with 50 pull-ups (assisted or unassisted) and 50 leg raises of some kind! 👊 . . . 5 STEPS TOWARD BETTER KETTLEBELL SWINGS! - What’s up, Achievers?! @laurenpak22 here and today I’m breaking down the steps we use to progress to the kettlebell swing with proper technique! Here are some details about each step: - 1️⃣Hip hinge with PVC pipe: Hold the dowel along your back so it touches three points of contact (your head, upper back, and tailbone.) From there, practice hinging at the hips and sitting your butt back without losing any of those points of contact. This will help you learn how to hip hinge while maintaining a neutral spine! - 2️⃣Deadlift: After you’ve mastered the hip hinge, started strengthening that pattern with a kettlebell deadlift. - 3️⃣Hike pass: It’s important to learn the very first step of the swing because it is what will set you up for the entire set! To perform the hike pass, stand behind the kettlebell, hinge your hips with a neutral spine, grip the handle and tilt the bell back toward you. This is your starting position. From there, use your lats to hike the bell back between your legs, keeping it up high above your knees, then return it to the start position. - 4️⃣Dead stop swing: Now you’re ready to practice individual reps! The dead stop swing starts just like the hike pass, but instead of returning the bell to the start, you push your feet into the floor, extend your hips, lock out your knees, and allow the bell to float out in front of you. You should see how much calories you are consuming. Most people are surprised by how little or how much they are eating! Remember, if you want to lose weight the biggest thing is to be in a caloric deficit. - Next, start by including cardio and strength training into your workouts. Both are crucial! You don’t need to do cardio for hours. I only do 15 minutes a day!
