YIN YOGA TIPS: what's stopping you? It's not just physical. It can also be emotional and psychological but today we talking physical! 🌟 Tension: this occurs when our tissues cannot stretch any further. This tension is mainly found in our muscles but also to dome degree our fascia, ligaments and joint capsules. 🌟 compression: this occurs when one part of the body comes into contact with another and further movement in that direction is no longer possible. For the former, tensile restrictions may change with practice (practicing intelligently, using props and respecting the edges we meet). However, we cannot do too much about compression. There has been an explosion of yoga teachers teaching yin recently , which is wonderful , it's a very popular practice , however with popularity comes potential for dilution of the tradition of the practice. There are some fundamental basics that make the practice YIN YOGA.πŸ™ŒπŸΌ Postures are being held for 30 seconds. This is not YIN YOGA, if your in a class and you hear postures called pigeon, paschimottanasana This is not YIN YOGA we all have more learning to do and a committed teacher will continue to learn and develop for their whole career, yoga is a vast and fascinating subject as teachers we should dedicate our lives to learning about, none of us know it all! Even teachers that have been teaching yoga for 10 years are always learning, that's when you can recognize a good teacher. Before starting to teaching yin, just a few of my personal suggestions..... You should have at least 2 years of self practice , you CANNOT teach what you have not experienced Yin is a very different practice to yang you cannot apply the same insights, you have to have had a regular yin practice. You should have at least read books by Paul Grilley, Sarah Powers, Bernie Clarke, there are many more but these are a good place to start Paul Grilley has some amazing DVDs get all of them and watch them again and again I would highly recommend getting along to any Paul Wooding workshops a lovely guy and a great teacher! Train with or get on a workshop with Norman Blair (he is probably the most senior yin teacher in the UK - one of) Get along to a workshop or training with Sarah Powers one of Paul Grilleys first dedicated students. Jackie Quayle at Yoga Bank also hosts a great Yin immersion , get booked onto her next one, she's fab! A great investment If you have never heard of Paul Grilley or Paulie Zink πŸ™ˆEkK you should probably NOT! be teaching yin (in my personal opinion) This is not a post to shame anyone!
