Traffic control for the mind. What is it? Traffic control is a great tool to keep your mind focused throughout the day whilst doing everything that we are doing. To do this every hour, on the hour, just for one minute. The morning is one of the best times one can meditate. Your mind is the most clearest after waking up, so what ever thoughts you feed the mind are more likely to stick with you throughout the day. But of course when we get on with our daily tasks, what we watch, read, listen to and talk about all have an impact on the mind and so we can easily get influenced and sucked into all of this information around us and we get pulled away from the meditation we practiced in the morning. Traffic control helps you keep this going throughout the whole day so when it comes to the evening, we feel energised and not only that but we are more focused with our evening meditation. Today I was back at the studio & I was sad to feel it so empty as we have been closed nearly 3 weeks now. I cleaned, watered the plants and made this crystal grid with the intention for the full moon to shine healing all around the world, for our collective consciousness & for Mother Earth. This triggers a cascade of responses that really can change your internal and external experience, and brighten your perspective on life - something we all need at the moment. I read this today and really needed to remind myself of this 💕. . I can imagine that like me, most of us are currently living with lots of anxiety about the current situation. . . As we can’t change what’s going on around us we can have a refuge from the fear of the future and instead living in the now whilst meditating🧘‍♀️. . If you haven’t got a current meditation practice there’s lots of apps out there (some free) that you can use. A simple practice you can do is to lay down in a comfortable position. Close your eyes and breath in and out through your nose with one hand on your belly and one on your chest. Feel the abdomen and chest rise and fall with your breath allowing your breath to slow down. You can also count your breath here and create pauses after each inhale and exhale. Try this, even for a few minutes, and notice how you feel. You can practice this seated and standing as well and anytime during the day. . Teaching yoga online in real time has been a great opportunity to fine tune some teaching skills and build my confidence back up. Yes...that’s right. It’s actually making me feel more confident in my ability as a yoga teacher. I’m a glass half empty kind of person who is self critical yet also accepting of my capabilities. I’ll always reflect on each class I teach and take a mental note of parts of the practice that were bumpy or just didn’t translate out of my head or body. • When teaching in the virtual realm each class needs to be well planned and thought out. There is a greater need to move through the practice with students as they have less visual cues than being in a studio. Words need to be clear, precise and efficient. Not too much but not too little either. Just right. • There’s nothing to hide behind when teaching in this way. It’s just you and your offering. Raw and unedited. It doesn’t have to be perfect or flawless, but it needs to have substance and a purpose. • Yoga has always been a movement therapy for me. The degree to how much I move is always changing - sometimes it might just be my organs and blood.
