So, it’s been probably a year since I stopped weighing myself which happened so naturally, that’s why I don’t exactly remember when the last time I weighed myself. For the first time since then, I stepped on the scale last night just out of curiosity as I’ve been really enjoying working out all over again🥰 It turned out that I weigh pretty much the same, BUT I put on 10lbs more muscle mass and -3% body fat!!!!! Can I get a WOOT WOOT!! HAPPY #HUMPDAY!🥳

‼️ Consistency‼️After being sick and losing approx 8lbs, returning back to the gym means I’m starting at ground zero once again. Definitely lifting less than what I did the previous month but I’m NOT discouraged at all. If anything, more than motivated as I get to start fresh. Not everything in life will go your way. You just have to make the best of it and change your mindset🤓 — ❇️ FOLLOW me, Like, Share, Save and Tag❇️ — Currently weighing in at 142lbs after my first week of proper meal prepping and tracking my macros. I’m quite happy to have made a 1.5-2lb gain. I carry a little book with me whenever I lift to track down all my exercises and weights. I’ve become that guy 🙋🏾‍♂️The book helps me my linear progression (increasing weights on a weekly basis) and continue to get stronger and BIGGER. 212lb I was at my biggest. Lost, depressed, and not leading the life i wanted to. Stuck in an illusion. Looking in that mirror i remember me thinking, “What have i become? This isn’t me.” For me this is more about the mental transformation, and the feelings of acceptance and realization along the way. Pic 1 I was obsessed with putting on mass. I didn’t care what it looked like as long as i saw the number on the scale go up. I trained 6-7 days a week, and ate about 3500-4500 calories/day. My partner at the time decided to move back to BC. I was left feeling lost and incomplete because my life had revolved around her so much, that i forgot how to live on my own. I slowly stopped eating, my appetite gone from stress and depression. I had no urge to cook. I slowly stopped working out as much. Then by the 3rd month i completely stopped lifting. My body and health were withering away before my eyes. I went from 185 lbs to 160 within a month. I was gaunt, sick, and weak. Dark thoughts start swirling in my head. I haven’t been this light or weak for 3 years.The pain i felt emotionally and physically had gone nowhere . But i've been there before....this wasn’t new territory. I had 2 options, sit there and let my darkness consume me once again. Or light my own fucking fire and fight. I did it before. I could do it again. I knew that if i started going to the gym that i would start to feel better, and i would be more motivated to cook. My appetite was destroyed. I remember being so hungry, but not being able to eat much cause as soon as i started eating i would feel sick I stopped beating myself up, i made sure to catch negative self-talk and redirect it. My workouts started to improve and I felt good habits start to form. Now my workouts are consistent, I'm in less pain and I'm liking where my body is going. I am eating and cooking again. I am learning to accept myself, my body and its capabilities, and to create my own light and happiness. I am not perfect… but this is a good start. I made a strategy for my mind and my body, and it is working. If you have ever felt feelings like this or have found yourself in a similar hole... please reach out to me.. Hey guys! So a lot of people have said they like this format of me posting the workouts. I am going to commit to giving you 2 new workouts a week from now on. Here’s a full body workout that’s focused on arms and abs! Circuit: 2 sets: 15 seconds rest btw exercises 1. Single arm row-30 seconds a side 2. Reverse flys-30 seconds 3. Band chest presses-1 min 4. C.A.R.s - THORACIC MOBILITY. 🚘 💥. . CAR = Controlled Articular Rotation - An active method of improving joint mobility. . How to: squeeze into the medicine ball and work through the largest range of motion possible starting with flexion forward, rotating to the side, coming up into extension and back around. Try this for several reps slowly amping up the tension you’re putting into the medicine ball as well as bracing into the band. . A fairly common area that people struggle with is thoracic extension and rotation. Apart from daily tasks, many exercises in the gym demand a certain level of ability in these departments if we plan on making strength and technique gains. An example would be a conventional deadlift with a barbell- without enough extension in the thoracic spine we simply won’t have the leverage or tension to move any significant weight without employing a less than ideal compensatory reactions such as excessive lumbar flexion/extension, high hips, cranked neck, etc. To avoid such a domino effect and future injuries we need to improve our ability to actively extend because stretching and rolling simply won’t be enough to bridge the gap between warming up and loading externally. Prerequisite flexibility is not sufficient, so if you can lay on the ground and make your spine as straight as an arrow, it does not mean you are mobile enough throughout these joints. . It is less a matter of if you can extend or rotate here, and more a matter of if you can do it independently of another spinal section losing its integrity. This is why in these videos there is an orange band around the lumbar segment. It provides feedback and controllable resistance so that you can feel if and when your thoracic movements are in fact a real reflection of your capabilities. .
