We made it, y'all. I wrote some stuff for the blog. The BIG year-end finale will be up on the blog tomorrow. Thanks for coming along guys.
This was the cover image I shot with @bio.bele for my book, Second Generation Plates. Can't honestly say that putting out a whole book was a childhood dream of mine but I'm real proud of this one either way. (It's still available for purchase, btw)
Heavenly light on a rainy day.
One of my favorite frames from Pound 2019. Esports is so much more than people staring at screens. I want more.
"Hey can you guys sit down on the floor over there? Under that cute strip of light"
Ok......I'm in love with these two and how down they were to just do whatever. Dream couple
Day 27 of #ZHOU31
The best way to my heart is through some good food. Here's day 26!
It's day 25.
Portrait of a friend, taken in a pitch black darkroom.
This is day 24.
I feel like eating raw tomatoes isn't as popular as it should be. Nice little slices or cubes, some salt, some fun vinegar? So good.
Here's day 23.
AAAAH! December is almost over! I got invited to my first engagement party last night and it was literally so insanely cold....I was considering just driving back home because leaving the car felt so bad HAHA. Anyways it was really fun and I didn't drink too much wine for once.
This beautiful frame of Christina and John has the cutest light. This is day 22 of #ZHOU31
Also the week three review is up on the blog! Link is in my bio.
It's saturday! Nothing I love more than cute little hand details
A return to portraiture. This set felt good. Entering the home stretch!
Something that took me a while to really hone in on was how I wanted to shoot weddings. In the sense that there are photographers that can create narratives and images that make mundane seem like magic. On the flip side, there are photographers that instead focus on watching stories unfold and capture moments as they happen.
Some make, some watch. It took me a little while to figure out which camp I'm in, and to figure out what works best for me AND my clients....but I think we're on the right track now. Anyways this was day 18.
For the record, I think ring pops are perfectly acceptable and fun alternatives to traditional rings.
Woke up to a little snow this morning. Went back to bed.
Check out my previous weekly roundups on the blog. Link in bio.
Starting off week three with this parting shot from A + K surprise DC proposal!
I went to Safeway to buy some ice cream sandwiches and they were buy one get one free so guess who's gonna be eating ice cream sandwiches for lunch
me, pouring myself a drink at 3pm for day 13.
Next next next!
After graduating, I road tripped up to Madison, Wisconsin with some of my best friends. It was the first time I went on a trip with friends like that so it was a bit extra special :)
I think the mark of a good photographer is the ability to make moments happen any time, any place. It feels good to see growth in my own work.
I don't think I've ever posted this many days in a row LMAO. Back here for day 10.
Shot on assignment for @waterfrontpartnership
Rainy days call for photos of sunshine and happiness (or sumn like that, yeah?). Shot on assignment for @waterfrontpartnership
Ever since I graduated I feel like my diet has strangely gotten worse? But the other day I made some braised shortribs and roasted brussel sprouts for my dads birthday and it was really fun to cook Real Things instead of throw random scraps onto rice and call it dinner.
Anyways we're back for week 2 of my top 31 series!
This one was fairly recent! A surprise proposal+engagement session in Historic Ellicott City.
Yes, she cried. Yes, they were adorable.
You can have your cake, and eat it too!
Wedding photos should be truthful, first and foremost. Telling the story of how the day unfolded is more important than implanting some beautiful narrative. In this case... that story involved post-reception sweets.
Hope y'all find some cake this weekend.
You can drastically improve any lunch you're making by taking just a lil olive oil, a knob or two of thinly sliced garlic and adding that crispy goodness to the top of your food.
Anyways this is a little documentary flavor for your timeline. Taken on my lunch break while on assignment with UMBC.
Getting to see my friend @nimsmusic write, record, and perform his first songs at @sofarbaltimore has been so incredible. It's a fun photo, but this one is here for sentimental value.
Tuesday again? No problem.
For day 3 we have my absolute favorite photo from K and Z's intimate herb farm wedding.
Anyways this photo is really cute! I'm gonna go eat breakfast
Back at it for day 2!
This is one of the few photos I've taken for a class that I've truly enjoyed. Thank you @pentaxjane for modeling. There's a fun story to this one.
For the next 31 days, I'll be sharing my favorite 31 photos I've taken this year (in no particular order)! This will include my work in weddings, esports, portraiture, and everything else! Some have good stories to them, some are just pretty. I'll be doing a blog post on the photos with stories and details each week, so be sure to check that out.
We're starting off with some astro work.
