I showed the left photo to my husband the other day and he said, “you were never that big. You were pooching our your stomach!” But, to be honest, that was probably the only one of my “before” photos that i didn’t try to suck anything in. I WAS that overweight. Looking back, I could ask myself how I ever let myself get that unhealthy, but I know exactly how. I spent the entire first year of my daughters life being as sedentary as possible. I literally stayed in bed all day other than to go to the kitchen and get food. Most days I asked my husband to bring fast food home for me so I wouldn’t have to cook. I ate candy constantly. Blizzards from Dairy Queen were my go-to treat. I would eat a large with butterfinger and Reese’s in one sitting, 4-5 times a week. I was unhappy. It took me a long time to see how bad it had gotten. I finally stepped on the scale when my daughter was a few months shy of her second birthday only to realize I weighed MORE than when I was 9 months pregnant with her. So I made a change. A BIG CHANGE. I started tracking all my food through @weightwatchers online and started working out 5 days a week. I had to modify a lot of the moves, but I kept working and kept pushing myself. I’m down almost 70 lbs now in the last 6 1/2 months and I’m so much happier & healthier. Thanks for coming along with me on my journey. This was my workout a few days ago. I think it was a #db365, which I always love doing because of how often they switch it up & use different trainers. I challenged myself to do double butt kickers instead of singles. I’m constantly amazed at what my body is capable of what I push myself to try different things. If I had to live my life in such a way that I could never eat cake or pizza, I’d go crazy and end up binging constantly. It’s all about balance and finding healthy habits in your every day life so that you can still have these things - just in moderation. Honestly I think the healthiest habit I’ve created is tracking what I eat. All of it - even the bad stuff. Working out is great, but the biggest part of this journey for me has been creating a better relationship with food. Carbs are not my enemy. I’m not going to gain 50 lbs if I eat a Reese’s. I have created the habit of eating well 90% of the time so I know that I’m able to get back on track after I have a cheat meal. You guys can do it too! Keep your eye on the prize. A few snippets of today’s push workout. My upper body is by far the weakest area for me, so it’s always really hard to work it, but I can only get stronger, right? I’m sure my triceps are going to be killing me tomorrow! #weighinwednesday UPDATE: well I was aiming for a loss of about 2 lbs this week but the scale only went down .2 😏 Get it together, scale! But realistically, I ate pizza on Saturday. And buttered popcorn. My weight went up a full 2.5 lbs overnight (can someone say “water weight?”). So the fact that I was able to reign it in the rest of the week and still drop all that plus another .2 is pretty awesome. So I’ll take it with a smile, knowing that my body is now capable of things I couldn’t ever do before and that I’ve come so far in the last six months. Some days, weeks, months are going to be hard. The weight will get harder to drop. Just remember - the weight wasn’t put on in a month so it will take longer to lose it too.
