Ice climbing is uncomfortable but damn is it worth it. Diving into multi-pitch ice in the Adirondacks with @chris_vultaggio and learning how to dance my ass off in crampons to keep warm 💃🏻⛏ #positivementalattitude #chickswithpicks at Whiteface Mountain

On December 4th, 2017 President Trump signed an executive order reducing Bears Ears National Monument by 85%. Now, a year later, court battles are being waged, legislation is stalling out and the BLM and the U.S. Forest Service are making new plans for the management of the reduced monument lands. Under the leadership of the current administration these federal agencies prefer monument management plans that fail to protect the thousands of sacred cultural sites throughout the original monument and are the least restrictive to energy development and resource extraction. 500,000 public comments were just submitted challenging these management plans but their impact remains to be seen. For now the future of Bears Ears is in flux. Despite the ambiguity I remain hopeful. The most recent elections reflect the public's strong commitment to protecting public lands and respecting the terms agree upon by a historic Inter-Tribal Coalition and President Obama. Trump may have expected carte blanche but the reality is anything but. The fight for Bears Ears and our public lands isn't over. Stay informed. Stay involved. Stay committed. here are some awkward photos of me holding a vegan sweet potato pie that took approximately 6hrs to make 🤦🏻♀️ happy thanksgiving!
Focus. Determination. Strength.
In the photo @sj_mccauley captures this year’s participants in the Young Women Who Crush program as they are captivated by their peers’ demonstration of climbing and belaying. On this Thanksgiving week I’m feeling especially grateful to be a part of this tremendous program launched last year by the @thecliffslic and @discover.outdoors. Thank you to @eekamonkey @ervarisco and to all of our mentors who have selflessly dedicated their time to share their love of rock climbing with this exceptional group of NYC public school students. Special thanks to @dank_brooklyn for keeping us well fed 😘

It’s easy to feel like your vote doesn’t count. We all get disillusioned. We all feel like just one insignificant voice in a sea of too many. Today in San Juan County, Utah, Willie Grayeyes won a historic election by less than 100 votes. He will become the first Democrat and first Native American to serve his district. I am proud to have been a small part of this victory and encourage you all to remember that sometimes 100 votes make the difference between progress and stagnation. Swipe to see @chris_vultaggio and I standing proud with Willie while filming the #OurLand Project 📸 @madelyn.blair
We interviewed Congressional candidates, knocked on doors, cuddled all the cats, played with all the pups, called countless voters, gave rides to the polls, and now we wait as ballots are counted...
Whatever happens I’m proud to have worked with such a dedicated and diverse team of engaged citizens. This is what democracy looks like 🙌🏼
Thank you @ajplus for spreading the word about the voter disenfranchisement happening right here in the United States. It was an honor to conduct these interviews and film this piece with @chris_vultaggio @cass_salsa and @livili. Back to work getting voters to the polls!! #govote
In San Juan County, Utah, these Diné Native Americans are galvanized to vote, despite the odds.

I made a ridiculous face in hopes that you will take a moment to read this post, so here it goes. I’m headed back to Bluff, Utah with @chris_vultaggio in a few days to volunteer with the Rural Utah Project. Our friends at RUP have been working tirelessly to register voters and ensure that the Native community in San Juan County finally has the resources they need to get to the polls and cast their ballots free from systemic discrimination and voter intimidation. While the situation in Utah is historic (click the link in my profile to read more) every election matters and there are local elections all across the nation in need of election monitors and volunteers for all sorts of #getoutthevote efforts. If you can’t take the time to volunteer then please take the time to vote. Today I walked into my local Board of Elections office and completed my absentee ballot. It was an easy and enjoyable process. If only all Americans could be so lucky to have access to a polling place where they are treated with dignity and respect. I’ll continue to post updates on our work but in the meanwhile take this time before November 6th to educate yourself about who’s on your ballot. Be informed. Vote for equality, education, conservation and human rights. Vote against discrimination, ignorance, exploitation and oppression.

Standing on a rock in Italy. Standing with Christine Blasey Ford. Seriously how can you watch that testimony and not believe her? How can you watch Brett Kavanaugh’s testimony and believe he has the temperament to serve on the Supreme Court? Unacceptable. #ibelieveher at Nago Torbole, Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy
