⁣This morning as I was reading Paul Tripp’s advent devotional this morning and these next few lines really got me thinking about how much I try to just enforce rules on my kids, find myself irritable at their constant need for reminders to stop doing something, and recognizing how I suck at laying laying down my life, sacrificing my time for them. “He would not come to set up an earthly kingdom and enforce his rule on the unwilling. He would not come to judge and condemn. He would not come demanding the service that was his rightful due. No, he came to serve, to suffer, and to die so that his kingdom would reign in the hearts of people. He came to call, draw, and love those who without his grace will continue to live for themselves.” What a beautiful example Christ is to us, and how we should live our lives for our children, and those around us who need it the most because we are those people ourselves.⠀ .⠀ .⠀ Shop my home by clicking the link in my profile.⠀ at Loomis, California

⁣Overwhelmed with all of the shares happening! This community is amazing and love seeing so many people cheer me on and support my goals. It’s not like once I reach 10k life will change, or I will have finally arrived it’s just a personal goal and without all of your support I wouldn’t be as close as I am to reaching it. Pushing myself, being bold to ask for support is out of my comfort zone because my fear of failing keeps me from doing things I view as unsafe or uncomfortable (I like to play it safe so I don’t have to face failure...and stay stagnant). So even if I don’t reach my goal by the end of the year I know I have learned and grown through it. Easy ways to support your friends on here is by liking/saving/sharing and when you feel like you have something encouraging to say, take the time to comment. I remember when I first started out asking questions in my brief caption it felt like I was talking to crickets, but being consistent and seeing so many of you respond makes my heart happy and I love hearing from you and getting to know you a little more too! ⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ Shop my home by clicking the link in my profile!⠀ http://liketk.it/2HYst #liketkit @liketoknow.it at Loomis, California

The halls are decked and this month is packed with so many fun holiday traditions. It’s a time we get to do so many fun things as a family. Growing up my parents went all out for Christmas and it was always magical but I also grew up with a very entitled mentality not understanding what a gift was. I thought it was putting a list together and then the person buying the gift must only pick from that list and for sure they better not skip out on that number one gift you’ve been wanting for so long...and it followed me into marriage and we had many years of struggle in the holidays when it’s supposed to be about Jesus and giving...yet I made it about me, and what I thought I deserved. Thankfully in the more recent years God has changed me and we approach it differently, and He’s always working on my heart. For my kids I don’t want this to be their struggle, and trying to not make this season about what we get but rather what we can give. I’ve also loved giving them lots of Christmas presents but this year we are keeping it simple and just doing the 4 gift thing...something they want, something they need, something to read and something to wear. I also want to take each of our kids to the store to pick out their siblings stocking stuffers to show them how giving is so much better than receiving. I know this isn’t the ticket to making kids grateful but it’s one action we are taking to try and make it less about the stuff and more about giving. . . ⁣Here is another transformational Tuesday for you! It finally stopped raining so I could get a quick shot of this space. This space is so open and the wall where the fireplace is on needed a focal piece so Troy built this fireplace off of a few ideas I saw to fill the space. I love how it centers the room and provides a cozy factor as well. Monday means back to reality. Kids are back at school and I’m back to my regular schedule. I love having my family at home but I also feel less productive when it happens. I always feel like I’ll be able to get more done but that doesn’t always pan out. I’m grateful that we had a great week together but I also don’t mind getting back into the regular flow. This evening I’ll be sharing on my stories along with a few other ladies a Christmas tour of our homes...luckily you aren’t walking through my house to notice my floors aren’t clean and many other chores aren’t done, that’s the beauty of stories 😅 at Loomis, California

⁣Christmas time here we come! I’m looking forward to slowing down and embracing all the holiday festivities for the next three and half weeks. Some of my favorite traditions are decorating the house, the nutcracker ballet, driving around looking at Christmas lights, and the holiday craft fairs. ⁣I got heart eyes for this man. For everyone who took a guess at his age, he’s not a day over 33 😉 I’ll spare you all the mushy stuff that usually gets said on birthdays and anniversaries and just say how thankful I am to have Troy as my best friend, the one I can’t spend enough time with, and one incredible father to our kids. I’m slowly staring to put Christmas decorations up around here 🎄If you watched my stories I put together a magnolia garland which I’m hoping will last up until Christmas cause if not we will have to boost another tree. Every year we go to the forest and pick a Christmas tree as a tradition but this year I wanted to do something in addition to that. My kids always want to help decorate the Christmas tree, and since I have very specific ways of doing things I always feel conflicted on how to let them put the ornaments on all willy nilly and wanting the tree to have some order...so here is my compromise, I teamed up with @kingofchristmas to get a tree for my bedroom that we can collectively decorate in whatever fashion the kids choose. This will be a fun tradition for us and hopefully the kids will be enthralled enough that they won’t want to help with the tree we pick from the forest 🤣🤞🏼 I’ll let you know how that goes 😉

Troy thought of the idea of waking up in the 5 o clock hour a month ago, and it’s still something I’m trying to get use to. The reason behind it was so we could have some quiet time before our kids wake up, and to avoid being woken up to bears needing breakfast or cat fights. I don’t know about you but when the alarm goes off I head straight for the coffee, especially at the wee hours of the morning. I’m so glad to have subscription to @valiant. It’s a great cup of coffee to make the wee hours enjoyable. Click the link in my bio, grab your beans and enjoy 20% off with my coupon allthingsnewhome! at Loomis, California

It’s unreal how quickly this month has flown! As the holidays approach and family and friends gather in our homes I always remember my mom saying when having company over, always make sure the bathroom is clean...the house can be a disaster but make sure your guests have pleasant escape cause we all need relief in one way or another 😉...like when people start talking politics, it’s nice to know the bathroom is a safe place to hide away. I was gifted some cute Turkish towels from @oliveandlinen and proudly get to display them this holiday season. Make sure your bathroom is clean, stocked with tp, and pretty towels. Just use my code ALLTHINGSNEWHOME30 and grab some pretty towels and give your guests a pleasant escape. at Loomis, California

⁣I had a lot of anxiety leading up to this trip, I hate flying and I don’t like being alone...but as I sit alone in our Airbnb I’m reminded I’m never alone really and also I don’t always need someone to entertain me (now I know where my kids get it from 🤦🏻‍♀️🙄). This year I am learning more about identity and it’s a beautiful thing, God has given each one of us our very own identity and I believe it’s our job to figure out who he has called us to be. IG can have a bad rep for fake identities but for me, I’ve seen the fruit of becoming more of who I am through learning to just be me.⠀ ⠀ 📷: @itserikachristine at Centennial, Colorado

Leaving for a quick trip to Denver. I’ll be spending most of the trip by myself while Troy does work shenanigans. Spending time by myself is not my favorite thing, but I am going to try and make the most of it. I’m hoping to do most of my Christmas shopping, edit and organize pictures, and learn what it means to be still. On our last trip Troy thought of the idea to put together little gifts each day we were gone for our kids, and this time we did the same thing. I love traditions like this, ones I hope the kids will look back with sweet memories of. at Sacramento International Airport

⁣I’m not sure if I bought my pumpkins too early this year or if they also think it’s time to start decorating for Christmas. In that case move on over pumpkins it’s time to deck the halls and put up my Christmas tree from @kingofchristmas .
