A few days ago Tess and I got to spend a day volunteering with mother elephants and their toddlers at an Elephant Sanctuary in Thailand. It was really an amazing experience getting to feed and care for these elephants. ⚠️ Remember, DO NOT ride the elephants EVER. There is a huge issue all over the world with elephant riding and we had to do a lot of research to make sure the place we picked did not offer elephant rides and did not force their elephants to do anything. Many people don’t realize this, but elephants don’t naturally allow humans to ride them. Taming the elephants to allow tourists to ride them starts when the elephants are babies with a process called Phajaan or “The Crush”, which completely crushes a baby elephant’s spirits through separation from its mother and abuse. The elephants then grow up allowing humans to ride them out of fear of being stabbed. Elephants do not deserve to be treated like this. Please don’t ride elephants and be careful of which sanctuaries you choose to help out at. Not all of them are the same. #elephant #thailand #savetheelephants at Chiang Mai

I couldn’t think of a caption so here’s a few weird laws in Bangkok 🇹🇭: 1. It is illegal to leave your house without underwear 2. It is illegal to ride motor vehichles bare chested 3. It is illegal to use durian as a weapon. The fine given will depend on how many thorns hit the victim 4. It is illegal to step on the currency because it contains the image of the king at Wat Arun

Thank you @ka8na6e1d for being my Tokyo guide for these past few days and teaching me so much about Japanese culture!! I’ll miss you very much💕 Here are some fun facts she taught me: 1. Japanese people LOVE to stand in line 2. When referring to traffic lights, Japanese people say “blue light” instead of “green light” and even call “green apples”, “blue apples” 3. Japanese people are super honest, if you lose something like a wallet or purse, you are almost sure to get it back - a fact that I tested by accidentally leaving my phone at a subway station and not realizing it until 3 stops and 1 transit later :-) When I made it back to the station it had been turned into the lost & found 4. There are way too many train lines (in my opinion) ~ 84 lines owned by 18 companies 5. It is considered rude to honk so almost no one honks in Japan 6. There are vending machines on EVERY. SINGLE. CORNER. We looked it up and turns out Japan has the most vending machines in the world, including a ramen vending machine & and umbrella vending machine 7. Japanese kids are taught to clean as part of their school education so the people are very clean. There are very few trash cans around the city, but people do not liter in the streets. Instead they keep their trash on them until they get home, where they can throw it away 8. In a typical Japanese meal, rice always goes on the left and soup always goes on the right 9. Japanese people are VERY punctual 10. Its considered formal and polite to slurp when eating noodles #tokyo #womantravel #japan at Tokyo, Japan
