I started Athena Personal Training with the intention of creating change. With so many people starting a training programme or journey for the wrong reasons with the wrong guidance, I knew I had a way of thinking that many others don’t. - - When I think about creating change, I think about the beginning instead of the end; the work instead of the result. I realised that you can only meet people where they are at, but when they are ready - truly ready - to take control back over their lives, I’d be there to guide them. Physical change is so much more about the underlying habits and demons that people need to overcome before they can accept the reality - β€˜They are in complete control over their own actions; always were, and always will be’ - and when that clicks? N E U T R A L S P I N E - - When you hear the term β€˜neutral’ what exactly does that mean? Well, in this video we have β€˜neutralised’ @jodiemannphotography her back in the conventional deadlift. We looked at her set-up first (always first point of call) , then her bracing technique. In Jodie’s case, having slight natural lordosis (inward curve of the lumbar spine) and slight hyper mobility, she feels β€˜straight’ when she’s in a slight hyper extension (see pic 1 πŸ‘‰πŸ») then we used the cues β€˜ribs down’ and β€˜hips locked in’ to make her more β€˜neutral’ in pic 2 πŸ‘‰πŸ». We then aided a heavier set with a standard @strengthshopuk lifting belt, to aid her bracing ability - low and behold, we have β€˜neutral’ ! - - Everyone has a neutral β€˜range’ and some slight diversion from that when lifting heavy is acceptable, so long it does not compromise safety or lifting efficiency πŸ‘πŸ». - - @kim_elysium #AthenaArmy ❀️ at Elysium Edinburgh
