Repost from @badassmotherbirther using @RepostRegramApp - . 𝐒𝐈𝐌𝐏𝐋𝐈𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐘 𝐈𝐒 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐔𝐋𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐄 𝐒𝐎𝐏𝐇𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 . In birth, often then not we have the tendency to complicate rather then simplify. We assume that sophistication equals results, brilliance, performance, and intelligence but it simply does not. . We tend to set the tone of expecting chaos and we add so many things that in the end can make birthing more difficult than it needs to be. Don’t set the mood for fear. . Sarah Schmid gave birth using nothing but her imbedded instincts, a towel underneath her and a book shelf for support. . Nothing complex, difficult, orchestrated, technological, forced, timed, chaotic or mapped out. . Maybe we need to rewind and go back to the basics, the simplicity of birth. . 💫LESS MEANS MORE💫 . Oh these dear little souls who made me Mama, something I had always yearned to be ❤️ How you exhaust and excite me. You push and pull me to my absolute limits and yet I still love you! . To the two little souls of mine who were morn too soon, you add so much to my mothering as well. You brought me to the very brink and introduced me to deep wisdom and trust. . To all the people out there celebrating Mother’s Day; to the mums of fur & feather babies, to souls babies & angel babies, to step moms, shared mums, bereaved mums, foster & adoptive mothers, to mothers who mother other people’s children. Absolutely perfect! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼@empoweredbirthproject ・・・ THE PETITION WON!!!!! That’s right… #IGallowuncensoredbirth, with over 23,000 signatures, has been successful: Instagram AND Facebook have officially changed their censorship policies to ALLOW UNCENSORED CHILDBIRTH!!! We did it!!!! __ When I launched the petition in December 2017, Facebook was not a thought in my mind. When I got a phone call a month later in January from a representative of Facebook’s public policy team, I was informed that since Facebook owns Instagram and both are governed by the same policies, this change will affect both platforms. This is truly groundbreaking, world changing news! Due to the extensive process required to implement this change within FB/IG, there may still be some glitches (i.e. random/accidental censorship) as they train their global team of employees and modify their software to recognize ALL birth related media as acceptable content. I waited until now to announce this exciting news because FB/IG has been working hard to update their technology and decrease censorship before giving me the green light to share this with you. Dear @instagram @facebook… thank you!!!!! __ Thank you all SO much for your endless support of this cause. There is strength in numbers, and together we have achieved this much needed policy change. This is so much more than a single petition-- it’s the cumulative result of many people over many years advocating to end birth censorship. Together, we have birthed a major shift in the collective consciousness, and now we are free to share uncensored birth in its full expression of glory on two of the biggest online platforms in the world. __ All of this just in time to kick off Mother’s Day weekend. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate!!! Share this news everywhere! Thank you, thank you, thank you. We did it! __ Love, @katievigos __ #IGallowuncensoredbirth #empoweredbirthproject #thankyoufacebook #thankyouinstagram #birthcensorshipendsnow

#BirthTip . Ice chips in labour? NO THANKS! . Why? . The body is already working so hard to move your baby down and out that by adding an extra job for it to do you are slowly down the process! Ice chips needs to be warmed up to body temperature which is a whole 'nother job for your body to do when it should just be focusing on birthing your baby! . By adding another job you are slowly the labour process! Traditional Chinese Medicine also says that a woman needs to be on FIRE for the baby to come earthside! We don't want to cool your fire down! . So Ice chips? No Thanks! Room water temperature and a cool cloth on your head? YES PLEASE! . Got any pregnancy, birth or postpartum questions you want answered? Throw 'em at me! Love Sandy xxxx at Ballarat, Victoria

Repost from @badassmotherbirther using @RepostRegramApp - . # . That’s an umbilical cord around babes neck FIVE TIMES! So that myth is is BUSTED!!!!!!! . _____________________________________________ 💪🏻SQAUT BAR AND NUCHAL CORD X’S 5💪🏻 . It’s your right to birth in the position that is most comfortable for you✅ . Listen to your body👂🏻 It will guide you to the position that is best for you and your baby🧘🏻‍♀️ . Nuchal cords(cord around the neck) are common and normal. This baby had a extra long cord and managed to get wrapped a few times. Mommy calmly unwrapped her baby and guided him up to her chest🤱 . VideoCred: @amorddoula at Ballarat, Victoria

Repost from @tampabirthphotographer using @RepostRegramApp - This gorgeous mama pushed my heart and feelings over the edge and caused me to really make moves to advocate publicly for representation of WOC giving birth in “non-traditional” settings. I dive head on into this on @birthunited. My ultimate hope, and hers, is to show the world that we (WOC) do this, too. We give birth in places outside of hospitals. We breastfeed. We baby-wear. My goal in sharing these types of photos is to ultimately SAVE LIVES. BWOC are dying at 3x the rate during pregnancy and childbirth than white women. This is happening right here in the United States! I strongly believe that lack of knowledge and acceptance of alternative options (birth outside of community hospitals where the standard of care is often diminished because they are in neighborhoods disadvantaged by segregation) is what is highly contributing to the death of women who look like me. If sharing photos like this one, of a woman having a SAFE VBAC AT HOME, lets other women know that there are more options out there for them to explore and ultimately save someone’s life because of it, then we are making waves. Birth imagery is important. Birth imagery of WOC is important. The “modern” world needs to see that these things are possible. . . . . . . #representationmatters #blackbirthmatters #homebirth #waterbirth #hbac #blacklivesmatter #waterbirth #birthwithoutfear #empoweredbirthproject #birth

A blissful unassisted birth for your Sunday evening. . My favourite part of an uninterrupted vaginal birth is speaking Mama through the “wait”. . You can see in this image that after the head emerges there is a pause.. a wait for the next contraction to turn the baby and bring the baby further down... and then to move one shoulder through and then the second quickly follows... . This wait is so important... and yet in the moment it feels bizarre... . There is a head outside of you and a baby inside of you?!?! Whaaaaaa?!? . The wait is beautiful and important. . Trust your body. Trust your baby. Trust birth. . Love Sandy Tai xxx . Magical capture by @maricardosofotografiadeparto at Ballarat, Victoria

Today I was lucky enough to spend the entire day sitting in circle with birthworkers. It was blissful. We discussed birth, life, families, culture... I’m in a cloud of birthy love! Today I also discovered this French book- “The Baby Is A Person”. Did you know that until the 1980’s most people and birth professionals believed that babies were sub-humans (for want if a better word), that they didn’t feel pain or have emotions?! Right up into the 80’s doctors were performing operations on babies without any anaesthetic at all?! This book was part of changing those practices to what we have today (which can still be improved on!)! Sitting in circle with these women today has stoked my fire again to make sure that the birth world keeps on improving. That’s why I am here ❤️ Sandy Tai xxxxx at Ballarat, Victoria
