@irrational_geographic captured this thought-provoking moment of a fox cub playing with some plastic litter in Finland. Litter is not only bad for the landscape, but can affect wildlife in many different ways. ‘Fox cubs don’t know how to recycle, so please don’t leave it up to them!’ #earthcapture at Finland

They are faster, more lithe and more stealthy than male lions. Giant barrel jellyfish spotted in Cornwall! 😮 This jellyfish clocks in at 1.5m in length and was spotted during Wild Ocean Week. @dalylizzie, alongside underwater cinematographer @sharkman_dan who captured this image, spent seven days travelling around Britain to showcase its wildlife, encountering seals, minke whales and huge seabird colonies along the way. While barrel jellyfish are known for being large in size and are common around UK coasts in the warmer summer months, Lizzie and Dan both said they have never seen one quite this big! . . . . . #jellyfish #ukwildlife #marinewildlife #britishwildlife #ocean #oceanphotography #underwaterphotography #animals #wildlife #wildlifephotography #nature #naturelovers #planetearth #earthlovers #earth

It's bath time for these little cubs! It rains for around 157 days of the year in the Serengeti, and the animals living here usually feel its full force, with few places for such large mammals to hide. A leopard may not be able to change its spots, but some zebra change their stripes. There are five main hypotheses for why zebras have the stripes: to repel insects, to provide camouflage through some optical illusion, to confuse predators, to reduce body temperature, or to help the animals recognise each other. Zebras in warmer places have more stripes and the answer probably comes down to keeping zebras cool and fending off disease-causing insects that are more common in hotter climates. Follow their story in Serengeti, continues tonight 8pm on @bbcone . . . . . #serengeti #zebra #savanna #babyanimals #animals #wildlife #wildlifephotography #animalphotography #nature #naturephotography #planetearth #earthlovers #safari #africa
