Today Albany Fire Department Chief Abriel and I presented certificates of recognition to the employees at Bimbo Bakeries for their heroic actions on the morning of June 23, 2017. Early that morning, Ralph Soler, Jeff Popiel, Al Leigh, Paul Pompey, and John Darkins noticed houses on N. Manning Blvd. that were on fire and knocked on the doors until the residents woke up and got out of their homes. Thanks to each of you for your selfless actions, and to Bimbo Bakeries for their generosity towards the victims of this fire.
I am excited to welcome the Albany Patroons back to our Capital City. For decades, the Patroons electrified fans and provided a foundation for legendary NBA coaches such as Phil Jackson and George Karl. Thanks to Dave Magley and the North American Premier Basketball League for their commitment to bringing the Patroons home.
