I join the Albany Police Department in mourning the loss of Assistant Chief and Chaplain Father James Lefebvre.
Father Lefebvre was a devoted servant of this community for decades. As Mayor, I relied on his advice and counsel often, and am grateful for the strength and support he provided our community - especially during times of tragedy.
I’m proud to have called Fr. Lefebvre a friend and I will miss him.
I have directed flags at all City buildings be flown at half-staff in honor of Fr. Lefebvre’s life and service.
Huge turnout for The Rumble at the #Albany Boxing Gym. Teams from all over NYS here to compete!

This past September, I joined the Albany delegation for a trip to Nijmegen to help commemorate the 73rd anniversary of the launch of Operation Market Garden and the 70th anniversary of the shipment of goods from the residents of Albany to the City of Nijmegen after the devastating bombing that occurred during World War II.
Thank you to the Ancient Order of Hibernians and Conners History Luncheon Committee for inviting me to share the details of the trip and our plans for this year’s Tulip Festival hosted by @albanynyevents. at Ancient Order of Hibernians

The Executive Budget proposal cuts state aid to the City of Albany by $12.5 million, an amount necessary to run basic essential City services as determined by the State’s own consultant. This cut would have a devastating impact on public safety, youth programming, and the services Albany residents rely on. We are asking @nygovcuomo to do what is right, stand with us, and correct this in his 30 day budget amendments.
I hope you all enjoy a fun and safe New Year's Eve. If you are going to be out and about, please remember to dress for the weather, use ride sharing or cabs if you are drinking, and have fun! I wish you all a happy and healthy 2018.

May the spirit of this wonderful season be with you and your loved ones throughout the coming days. Christmas is a wonderful time to reflect on all we have accomplished in 2017, and to look forward to the coming year with optimism and enthusiasm.
At this time last year, President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama reminded us that this is also a time to reflect on the story of that Holy Night in Bethlehem and its eternal message “of boundless love, compassion and hope. The idea that we are our brother’s keeper and our sister’s keeper. That we should treat others as we would want to be treated. And that we care for the sick… feed the hungry… and welcome the stranger… no matter where they come from, or how they practice their faith.” I am so grateful to serve as the Mayor of a community that embraces these values, and for your faith in me to continue to serve you for the next four years. Bob, Jay and I thank you with all our hearts and wish you a very Merry Christmas
Affordable housing is an integral component of vibrant communities. The completion of Ida Yarbrough Phase I ensures state-of-the-art housing will be available to low- and moderate-income individuals and families for years to come. Thank you to the Albany Housing Authority, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and Governor Andrew Cuomo for their commitment to ensuring the viability of affordable housing in the City of Albany.
