This Ruffed Grouse arrived in front of the Ontario FeederWatch cam with an appetite this week! Watch it fill up on seeds and depart in high-flying fashion (for a grouse). 🚀 ⠀ ---⠀ Catch them LIVE by clicking the link in our profile.⠀ ---⠀ #birdcams #nature #wildlife #birds #birdsofinstagram #ontario #grouse #ruffedgrouse #birdfeeder #fly #rocket at Manitouwadge, Ontario

This mixed-species flock enjoys breakfast together at the Ontario feeders. With their enormous bills, Pine and Evening Grosbeaks can crush seeds that are too large for redpolls to open. These smaller birds often seek out the grosbeaks and glean the food scraps they leave behind. ⠀ ---⠀ See it all LIVE by clicking the link in our profile⠀ ---⠀ #birdcams #nature #wildlife #birds #birdsofinstagram #ontario #grosbeak #redpoll #birdfeeder #breakfast #cleanupcrew at Manitouwadge, Ontario

Although White Terns aren't as social as many other terns, these shimmery, all-white birds (sometimes called "fairy terns") have high degrees of interaction with their mates. In addition to the @cornellbirds Instagram, these birds can be found on beaches and tree-lined shores of many tropical islands. ⠀ ~~⠀ 📸: © Tony Palliser / Macaulay Library, ML63353901⠀ ~~⠀ #WhiteTern #tern #PapuaNewGuinea #ValentinesDay #love #cornelllabofornithology #bird #birdstagram #birding #birdID #ornithology at Papua New Guinea

Since tomorrow is #ValentinesDay, we're taking a close look at these #LoveBirds from the @cornellbirds Instagram. 🔎The Monk Parakeet is a native of South America, but introduced populations occur in the wild in major cities across the United States! The long-established pet trade of these birds led to wild colonies first recorded in the 1960s. The secret to their survival? These birds are the only parakeets to nest communally; dozens live together year-round in large, multifamily stick nests built in trees and on power poles. 💖⠀ ~~⠀ 📸: © Gabriel Tellez / Macaulay Library, ML80470131⠀ ~~⠀ #MonkParakeet #Parakeet #Mexico #love #cornelllabofornithology #bird #birdstagram #birding #birdID #ornithology at Mexico

The Red-tailed Hawks were at it again this morning. Amidst feverish nest building, Big Red struggles to bring in a big stick, and Arthur sweetly nibbles at his partner's bill. ⠀ ---⠀ Don’t miss a thing. Stick by stick, Big Red and Arthur build up their nest on the Red-tailed Hawk cam. After plenty of rearrangements, new additions, and bowl-forming, the Fernow nest site is really taking shape! ⠀ ---⠀ Watch the renovations LIVE by clicking the link in our profile.⠀ ---⠀ #birdcams #live #nature #wildlife #birds #birdsofinstagram #Cornell #redtailedhawk #hawk #raptor #breedingseason #newyork #nest at Cornell University

Listen to Big Red vocalize during her stop by the Red-tailed Hawk cam last week! It's never a given that the hawks will nest in the same location each spring, but it's a hopeful sign that they are returning to this nest site located in a light tower high above Cornell University's main campus.⠀ ---⠀ Watch for them LIVE by clicking the link in our profile.⠀ ---⠀ #birdcams #live #nature #wildlife #birds #birdsofinstagram #Cornell #redtailedhawk #hawk #raptor #breedingseason #newyork at Cornell University

This Chestnut-headed Oropendola grabs some banana (and our attention) while in front of the Panama Fruit Feeder cam. Take special note of the striking contrast between the bird’s pale, casqued bill and dark plumage—not to mention those bright blue eyes. 😳⠀ ---⠀ See them LIVE by clicking the link in our profile.⠀ ---⠀ #birdcams #nature #wildlife #birds #birdsofinstagram #panama #fruit #birdfeeder #chestnut #oropendola #beak #eye #canopylodge at Panama

Let’s have a look at the Rufous Motmot's lovely tail feathers! Note how these elongated feathers have a bare section and then terminate in a spatulate shape. Research suggests that this eye-catching tail shape is created during routine preening and results from a lack of structural-enhancing melanin and reduced structural attachment in the feathers near these bare sections.⠀ ---⠀ Sneak a peek LIVE by clicking the link in our profile.⠀ ---⠀ #birdcams #nature #wildlife #birds #birdsofinstagram #panama #fruit #rufousmotmot #motmot #tailfeathers #feather at El Valle de Antón

Who do we have here? An immature Bald Eagle visited the Savannah Osprey cam yesterday for about 30 minutes while surveying the surrounding area. Immature Bald Eagles have mostly dark heads and tails, and their brown wings and bodies are mottled with white in varying amounts. Young birds attain adult plumage, complete with the distinctive white head, in about five years. 🦅⠀ ---⠀ Watch LIVE by clicking the link in our profile.⠀ ---⠀ #birdcams #nature #wildlife #birds #birdsofinstagram #savannah #baldeagle #eagle #raptor #birdofprey #nest at Skidaway Island, Georgia

While nestled over his egg, the male Bermuda Petrel releases two big yawns, providing a great opportunity to check out his notched, black bill and impressive gullet. Cahows are thought to forage similarly to other gadfly petrels, who use their bills to seize shrimp, squid, and other pelagic fare at or just beneath the ocean's surface. ⠀ ---⠀ Tune in LIVE by clicking the link in our profile. ⠀ ---⠀ #birdcams #live #nature #wildlife #bird #seabird #endangered #bermuda #petrel #conservation #cahow #yawn #beak #bill at Nonsuch Island, Bermuda

After a two-month hiatus, the Bermuda Petrels finally reunited in their nesting burrow on Nonsuch Island this week. The male’s arrival marked a brief but exciting sojourn for the pair. The 8-hour reunion included plenty of loud vocalizations, excited nibbling, and cuddling before the the female headed out to sea to forage and recharge after laying the pair’s single egg on January 10. Watch the petrels take one final trip down the burrow’s tunnel together before the male returns and settles over the egg. ⠀ ---⠀ Tune in LIVE by clicking the link in our profile. ⠀ ---⠀ #birdcams #live #nature #wildlife #bird #seabird #endangered #bermuda #petrel #conservation #cahow #reunion #incubation at Nonsuch Island, Bermuda
